The store is not very big but there is an infinite number of choices. Tailored clothes are usually more expensive than their off the rack equivalents. However, Claymore's prices are on par or better than competitors. Once you buy tailored clothes you never want to go back to off the rack. It may be the only choice for people who can't buy off the rack without looking like they are wearing their father or little brother's clothes on. Every man should have at least one tailored piece of clothing, it really makes a difference. Atmosphere can be a little intimidating if you don't know some of the terminology so make sure you Wikipedia some.. The staff will do the rest will make you feel at ease. If you are not sure what you are looking for, let the staff know your style, where you intend to wear them, and how often. The staff knows what they are talking about and will lead you to the right choices. Tips: 1) Wait for store or seasonal sales which they have all the time. 2) Register with them and you will get coupons in the mail. 3) If you can afford it, ask for the "bespoke" collection. They cost more but the quality is commensurate with the price. 4) Take advice from Charlie, Mike, and the rest of the staff. These guys are up on the latest trends, styles, and fabrics. 5) If something does not fit right, speak up. Claymore wants you to come back. 6) Colors, patterns, and details can all be tailored. Don't be afraid to ask. For example: Most of my sport coats have some kind of unique lining and people always notice. It does not always cost more.

I mean, We definitely have our fair share of great shops in Detroit, but having a Gucci, or Saks doesn't make a city "cool," It just states that there is a big enough population of people that will spend the money for the brand names. Little boutiques like the Annex among other places in Detroit gives people in the city something unique and will have people asking you "Where did you get that?" The decor is a mix of old and new. There's an antique piano at the entrance with a bunch of merchandise resting on top of it. as well as a pummel horse by the ladies shoes. However the fashion trends are up to date and cutting edge. Gents, this is more of a ladies boutique (what store isn't?), however, There are a lot of hats for the guys as well as some accessories. The Annex also has a few knickknacks scattered about ie: Candles, unique books, scarfs, calenders, picture frames and original art which makes The Annex a great place for holiday shopping or a place to reward yourself with something new and fresh. Update11/22/11: The Annex is moving to another space in Birmingham off of Maple right next to Caruso Caruso. The bed frames are all grouped together, as are the rectangular tables and round tables. The sectional and living room sets are all over. There are light fixtures left out on the floor in the box. Nothing is setup to see how it might look with pieces together, except maybe the living room seating and coffee tables. There are random kid's clothes on a table and some diaper bags on the dining room tables. I suppose it's not set up for appearances since it's an outlet. Nothing appealed to me since it all appears so haphazardly placed and strewn about here.

Had to park around back and it looks like a dirt lot that a car restoration place next door uses, but if you keep going, you see Tony's door. I wanted a pair of boots resoled, wasn't sure if it was possible. Tony's work was perfect! He was able to do exactly what I wanted and I'm very pleased. It cost 50$ , not sure if this is the going rate but I loved these boots so much that it was worth it.

And B. one of the staff ladies was a little too in-your-face while we were browsing. I know she was trying to be helpful, but it was a bit much. I'd probably skip heading back and either go downtown to the Carhartt store in Detroit, or go to the Carhartt shop in Howell, if were out that way.

It is difficult to find clothing work appropriate, especially when I go to court a lot. I walked into Marshall's thinking I would have no luck. Much to my surprise, I find a lot of clothing items that were my style. I tend to like plain shirts that are basic. I do not like overly floral items or designs. These shirts were classy and work appropriate, and were not revealing. They were also quite plain with some minimal design, and super affordable. I found a brand that suited my taste, and managed to locate many different colors and style variations. The only hard part is not being able to locate shirts in your size sometimes. Sometimes things are thrown in random spots. The clothing racks were pretty organized for this visit. I did find a lot. I wanted another one but could not find the size. Unfortunately, there was no way for them to see if they had one in my size. Even if they did, I would have to search everywhere for it. They had a huge sale selection as well with really nice shirts. We even find nice dress pants for men that were bame brand, yet affordable. I now love coming here to shop for work clothes.
