Friends came to visit Texas for the first time and wanted to shop for boots. Sassy Pantz was the first store we walked into and after our visit, we didn't need to look any further! I purchased one pair of boots and my friend purchased a pair for her 12 year old daughter and herself. The sales associate was extremely patient, kind, and most helpful. We tried on several pairs of boots, which we were instructed to walk around the old cobblestone floors to see how they felt. After I got home and tried on my boots with two different outfits, I decided that I didn't love them. If I'm going to pay $350 for a pair of boots, I need to LOVE them. I had received an e-receipt, so I pulled it up and read the return policy. It read that I had 15 days to return my merchandise, and as long as the boots were in the same condition as when I purchased them, I would be issued a full refund. Great! Standard return policy for footwear. I packaged my boots back into the box and put them away for safe keeping until I could get back to the stockyards to return them. I had another friend coming to visit from out of state the following week and wanted to wait to go back so she could do some shopping there too! Sadly, this is where the good experience takes an EPIC turn. My friend and I walk into the store on 8/5/24 to do some more shopping and return my boots. I was informed by the sales associate that for in-store purchases, I could only be issued a store credit. I told her that the receipt says something different. The associate apologized and said they haven't updated the return policy digitally yet, but pointed to a 4x4 inch note, taped flat on the counter. (This was not pointed out to me at the time of purchase.) I advocated for myself and said that because the digital receipt I received says I could return the boots, I believe it should be honored. The associate makes a call to the owner, returns and says they won't accept the return. She said that the owner said that I've worn the boots and she won't be able to sell them again. I asked to speak to the owner, I told her how I took them home and tried them on, but had not worn them outside or anywhere else. After hearing this, the friend I was with pulled some of the other pairs of boots off the shelf in the store and took pictures so that the owner could compare my boots with the others that had not been sold. The associate was kind enough to send the pictures to the owner. I spoke to the owner again who told me I was *lying* and that she would issue a refund but would charge a "restocking" fee because the boots I was returning were in "terrible" condition and could not be resold. I was shocked. The boots were still in excellent condition, because they had not been worn. I told her I have never received such terrible customer service and to be accused of something for which there was clear evidence that my boots look the exact same and even better than the other boots that are on her shelves was quite frankly, unbelievable. The owner then said, "just take your refund and get out of my store." I was so upset, I was shaking. The associate issued a refund, minus the restocking fee... although at first she only refunded $150 back and was insulted when I pointed out that it wasn't correct (restocking fee was 10%). As I said before, I really wanted to love this place but can honestly say I've never ever been treated so poorly by a business. I'm attaching a picture of the boots that were on the shelf vs. mine. My boots are #4. Is it possible that trying them on and walking around their cobblestone floors causes "damage"? There are a lot of fantastic boutiques out there, this one is not worth the atrocious customer service.
