This store has a few tables, has beautiful local artwork posted on the walls, offers a 10% discount on your first visit, and uses healthy bases with real fruit. I was also really excited to discover that they had a vegan pea protein powder free of artificial sweeteners, which I could add to my drink. We ordered two drinks and were really happy with what we received. THE DRINKS: Ginger Snap - My fiancé ordered the ginger snap without spinach and he really enjoyed his drink. It featured apples, banana, mango and ginger and it was full of flavour. It was sweet and tart and definitely a must try! Drunken Monkey with spinach: - I ordered the Drunken Monkey with vegan protein powder and spinach. I found my drink lacked a bit of flavour (they scoop the fruit into the cup before blending and a big chunk of fruit created a big air hole, which I think is the reason my drink lacked flavour) but I was really happy with the whole ingredients used and the added protein powder. The service was a little slow but the employee was really nice and I enjoyed looking at the artwork on the walls. Would We Return? Absolutely because I like the clean ingredients used and the ability to add protein to my drink.

My first visit to a Whole Foods Market was years ago, after completing a job interview in Yorkville…read morein Toronto. I definitely remember what I got: a slice of tiramisu. At that time, it was the only Whole Foods in the greater Toronto area. Whole Foods has grown on me, likely because Markham has one and I frequent it often. I don't fit the profile of a typical Whole Foods shopper who tends to carry expensive handbags, must get everything organic, and can afford all things expensive, including tiny bottles of elixirs that extend their years on planet Earth. I like their dairy-free items. I love Carbonaut bread and the entire bakery section, including tiramisu. There are specific items that I get at this store. If I'm looking for romaine lettuce or celery, you'll likely see me at a grocery store that offers these items at normal, cheaper prices. Four years ago, I was in the Glebe and saw this Whole Foods store. I didn't go in. I had already got what I needed at a Metro. On my most recent visit, after spending a few hours exploring the area with a friend, I realized that I needed almond beverage and lemons. I had yet to set foot in any grocery store. They were good reasons to check this store out. I had parked underground. The elevator got me to this store. I exited the elevator on the main floor to hit Winners. This store has a cafe that occupies the entire floor. It was busy just before noon. People must love getting coffee and a baked good here. When I returned just past 5 pm, you could hear crickets on this floor. The cafe was closed. It was different. My local one is still open when I'm there at 7 pm. I have yet to hit the cafe at any Whole Foods location. I took the escalator up to the second floor, which is where the entire supermarket is. I immediately found almond beverage. Organic. Sugar-free. Perfect. I also found the produce area. The Rainier cherries looked good. They were also so expensive that I blocked the price out and moved on. I got a couple of lemons. You could get a bag of six. The price was the same if you calculated how much one lemon was going for, so you might as well pick your own pristine-looking lemons. I looked around. It has the usual salad and hot food bars. You pay by weight, which does add up if you aren't careful. There were lots of snacks and drinks to choose from. A can of flavoured carbonated water was going for $2.69. It makes you wonder how this store determines the prices that it sets. It was enjoyable looking at the plants and flowers. It's a nice grocery store. I had an equally nice woman at the checkout area. I paid for my items with a debit card. I didn't need a bag. My lemons were already in one, so I carried it and my carton of almond beverage to the elevator. It was convenient taking the elevator down to the underground parking lot. I walked to my car, paid for parking, and left. The lemons and almond beverage were great. I'm glad that I got what I needed at this store. I had a fun time shopping here. It's my second Whole Foods that I've been to where it has two floors. We'll see if I return in another four years. Maybe I'll try the cafe... haha! (262)

This Pure Kitchen location on Elgin Street was their second location (they have 5 altogether now)…read more It opened in June 2016 where Maxwell's Bistro and Club used to be. It's fairly big inside, with a mix of tables (some round, some rectangular), booths and bar seating. The front windows open completely, and in the summer months they open it up, so you can sit inside, but still get some fresh air. Admittedly, I've only ever gotten takeout here. They have a fridge where you can grab stuff to go. They also have a freezer where you can grab frozen stuff to cook at home. It's a vegetarian restaurant. They have mostly wraps, sandwiches and salads. They have lots of cold pressed juices as well. All their menu items have inspirational names like Transformed, Energized, Renewed, etc. I've had most of their wraps, sandwiches and juices and everything is good (except for one juice that had parsley in it, which I thought it was gross, but everything else has been good). Some items are sometimes too salty for my tastes, but sometimes not. I guess it depends on who's making it, lol. My favourite salad is the Transformed Kale Caesar salad. My favourite wrap is the Blissful Burrito. My favourite juice is the Electrify (beet, pineapple, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger). I love that after eating their food I feel full, but not bloated and gross, lol. Definitely recommend for vegetarian food. It's a bit pricey though. Expect to pay $15+ for a salad/wrap and a 16 oz juice is $10+. Street parking only.

So for my bowl I got as the base strawberries, peaches and mango. I got granola on the bottom and also on top (this is the default how they make their bowls). I also got strawberries, bananas and peaches as toppings, along with jellies (the type you get in bubble tea), a white chocolate fish tail (coloured orange) and whipped cream. They also put on a pretty butterfly wafer. The hubster got strawberries, pineapple and mango as his base. Granola on the top and bottom, like mine. He got blueberries, chocolate chips, cashews, slivered almonds and sunflower seeds as his toppings. And also whipped cream. They didn't give him a butterfly wafer though, lol. I feel special ;) They also have pre-set bowls, with fun names like Drunken Monkey, if you don't want to create your own. My bowl was delicious! And so filling. Staff were really nice and friendly. The inside is very pretty with areas to take nice pictures. I think Insta Bolz is a reference to Instagram because the inside is very Instagram-friendly. I love that all their packaging is compostable. There are a few bistro tables out front, as well as some picnic tables. The store is along a strip of shops at the base of the University of Ottawa Annex Residence. It's next to an Anytime Fitness, but along the strip there's also a South Street Burger, Thai Express, Sushi Man, Food Frenz and Starbucks. Street parking only. It's not in a part of town that I frequent, but seriously, if I was still a uni student and lived in this area, I would be at Insta Bolz all the time!

We were out and about and remembered that Mandy's had just opened the week we were in the area. We dropped by to grab a bite and there was quite the lineup here! It's nice and bright in here. I can't explain it but it reminds me of all the other Mandy's we've been to in Montreal and Toronto. After some trying to figure out what we wanted, we settled on a cobb salad as we had been talking about a cobb salad for some time. There were about 8 people in front of us and the staff were also working on orders for delivery platforms so we were excepting quite the wait. In a couple of minutes we were front of the line and ordered our salads. It took them no time to get us our salads and we were in and out of there within 10 minutes as we opted to take our order to go since it was beautiful out. The salads were just as good as the other locations we've been. They're pretty consistent. Dressing was good, ingredients were fresh. I was so hungry that I totally forgot to get a picture of the salad. I think the next time I'm in, I'll get a different signature salad as I do like other salads they have here more. It's just cobb salads came up in conversation around that time and it's something that was on the menu so we decided to get. We'll be back!
