Super Clean with Great Food and Service. Exploring the Yadkin Valley yesterday and stopped in for a late lunch at the Boonville Family Restaurant. Glad I did because it was one of most relaxing lunches I have had in a long time. Walked and walked up to the front counter. Only one other customer but again it was 3 pm in the afternoon. Lady at the counter proceeded to seat me and from that point on, it reminded me of coming home from college and the fuss my mother would throw. That continued even after I was married and when my kid were born, extended to them as well. New York City will know it as the Jewish Mother Syndrome but it is the ultimate comfort experiece. Promptly seated with menu in hand, I had ample time to review the menu. Been awhile since I have had good Chopped BBQ so I ordered the BBQ Plate with Fries and 1/2 and 1/2 tea which was still too sweet. While I waited for my lunch, I looked over the restaurant and it is super clean. All the Stainless Steel is polished to a shine, tables are wiped down with sanitizing solutions even if not in use. I run a plant that is FDA Registered for Food with multiple Certifications and this place is phenomenal, Lunch came out and it was quite good. I had looked before so I could tell that the BBQ was not prepared on site because of the lack of smokers but were ever they get it, it's pretty good. Not the best I have had but still very good. Fries were great. Put everything together and a nice hidden gem if you are exploring the Yadkin Valley. I I normally give a recommendation to those traveling the I-77 corridor as to try on not. Great food but 9 miles from I-77 so it's your choice.

I was on the way home from the mountain house, wanted to try a new spot, so thought I would look to yelp for suggestions. Based on great reviews, many great reviews, we decided to try. First, we were told the biscuits are not made from scratch. are not made from scratch. We immediately knew this was not goi g to be our go to spot in the future. Now, the reason I am leaving a review is, not everyone has to have a scratch made biscuits; and the canned biscuit they did serve tasted fine. We were there for breakfast so we decided to stay. My wife got a chicken biscuit and the chicken was a pre-patty out of a bag chicken piece. Again, tasted fine, but we thought, Dern, we can do this ourselves at home. I want to make sure this review is read correctly, the food tasted fine, the people were great, and the place was busy, so if you just want to satisfy a hunger, please stop. However, if you are looking for a great diner with scratch made food, don't let the yelp rating fool you like it did me, this is not your spot.

The staff was very friendly and helpful with answering some questions about the menu. They know the menu well and was knowledgeable of the preparation. I ordered the country fried chicken with gravy that is served over mashed potatoes with a hot roll and a side fried okra. It was a plate special for just under $10. Food came out hot and the chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender. I don't think the gravy was made from scratch but it was good white, peppered gravy. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes, not boxed. The okra may have been the frozen kind but it was fried and seasoned perfectly. I also ordered some ranch dressing on the side to dip the okra and chicken in and it was made from scratch ranch dressing and some of the best ranch I've ever had. The roll was like a breadstick and it was freshly baked, served hot and may have been made from scratch. It was a really good hot roll. Overall appearance was that it looked like it has been around for a while but had a cute, country diner vibe going on. I would eat there again if I'm passing through and would recommend to anyone wanting country style food with good service. The price was very reasonable with big, generous portions.

We were traveling through Elkin and while The Yellow Door Cafe had almost no presence on Yelp we did see many positive reviews in Google and decided this was a great opportunity to add to the Yelp community. We arrived close to noon and were greeted immediately upon walking in. The building appears to be a converted home and is cozy and well kept. We noticed almost immediately there was a connection to Angry Troll Brewing which is another local business in Elkin that we are fans of. The signage for Yellow Door also states they are affiliated with Liberty Catering. We were placed at a small table and provided menus along with a short menu with featured their daily specials. Our server was friendly and helpful in telling us more about their business and making recommendations. My wife decided on the chef salad while I chose the chicken cordon bleu sandwich with fries. Our food arrived a short time later and looked delicious. In addition, the place started to really fill up. There were several tables seated while we enjoyed our meal. My wife really enjoyed her salad but it could have been bigger, she would have loved the option of ordering a larger size for more money. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. I thought the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich was also delicious. The fried chicken was very crunchy. I got the garlic aioli on the side but thought it was yummy and kept dipping my sandwich in it. My wife noted the restroom was clean and well appointed as well. The prices were reasonable and we really enjoyed our meals. This is an excellent stop while in Elkin and near the historic downtown area.

TYD serves brunch and a great selection of sandwiches at reasonable prices. Our party of four for lunch today started with their Pimento Cheese appetizer (available hot or cold). It comes with an amply supply of crispy, house made pita chips. We ordered ours hot. It was creamy with just a little kick. NOT oily like a lot of heated pimento cheese. The Reuben had a healthy serving of corned beef, just the right amount of kraut, and a creamy, Swiss cheese, and sweet Thousand Islands. Rue Bread was grilled just right. The BLT on toasted Sourdough bread was piled high with bacon, fresh tomatoes, and crispy lettuce. With mayo. Bacon was a thick slice, cooked perfectly. The French Dip on Ciabatta bread. Thinly sliced roast beef, with caramelized onions.and Swiss cheese was very good. The dip was ok. Could have a little more kick. Muffuletta sandwich (turkey, ham, olive tapenade, Swiss cheese, and a goat cheese spread) was delicious. They offer fries, sweet potato fries, potato salad, and a pasta salad as sides. Fries were crispy and tasty. Sandwiches are offered on breads appropriate for each sandwich, but you are free to choose other breads. TYD also offers a burger, chicken, chicken salad, and egg salad sandwich. There is a small bar menu and local craft beer available. We highly recommend the Yellow Door Cafe.
