I stopped at your restaurant this past Friday during a hiking trip for a quick to-go meal. While the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere, the customer service was extremely poor and made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Upon entering, staff behind the counter began whispering about me. When I walked toward the pool table area, a worker followed us and started asking intrusive questions. The woman I believe to be the owner then began commenting that there were no teens in the restaurant because they were likely at graduation, treating my group and me like children. She proceeded to ask our ages and whether we had graduated, despite my clear disinterest in conversation. As an adult who works full-time and volunteers with community organizations and non-profits on my limited days off, this unwanted harassment was disappointing and disrespectful. Additionally, the hostess appeared jittery and forgetful. When handing me my to go order, the owner aggressively shoved the box into my hand. The hostess later remembered my water order only after the food was ready and then asked if I wanted a cup. I initially asked for it to be a to go cup but she gave me a plastic cup so I had to leave my water there. This experience significantly ruined what should have been a relaxing stop during my short weekend break. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and reflected on so other customers don't have a similar encounter with this restaurant/pub. read more

Yes, you really do have a good reason to go to Falls City and Boondocks is IT! Laura and Lori, owners and hard-working operators of Boondocks, and their really caring staff are building a community legacy. The food, the service and the fun are absolutely 5 stars. The food and service were good, ambiance is eclectic and comprises families, couples and individuals at the bar. They offer community classes such as painting, wreath making to name a few. The food was good. The steaks were incredible, the mashed taters were a little dry. The appetizers were generic. But again the steak and burgers are the stars of this bar/restaurant. The Ladies who run this establishment are friendly and very patient when being asked questions. read more

My daughter and I are visiting from California. My girl is 17 and pretty picky about her food. I have eaten here before and the food is absolutely amazing, service had always been great. But for my daughter to want to go back the following day after having the avoc. Bacon half pound burger says a lot. This little place is 100% worth the stop if you're ever driving through falls city. Visited The Boondocks we had Rib eye steak well done. Loaded mashed potatoes and loaded green beans. It was fantastic and well worth the drive. My kids had chicken strips and tater tots. They are the whole lunch which is hard for them to do when they lose interest in a dish. We will definitely be back over the river and through the woods to the boondocks we go! Call local dive bar and restaurant. We ordered a couple ribeyes and enjoyed our dinner on their back patio under the starry sky. Perfectly cooked and very tasty. Although it is a little bit off the beaten path it's someplace will be visiting again soon. read more

Amazing food and great friendly staff. Your down home small town bar. Highly recommend. We had salads, the chief and the crispy chicken. Both were fresh and crisp. Their house made ranch is the BOMB! We ordered the Bar Plate appetizer. It included two chicken strips, 6 zucchini spears, 6 mini tacos, and 3 jalapeño poppers. All of the food items were popping hot and very well seasoned. Brownie and ice cream with chocolate and carnal drizzle topped off this amazing meal. Ooey and gooey hot and sooooo very good. This place allows animals on their back patio as long as the animal doesn't bite or dig. Very good place, we will be back again. read more

To be sure, this place is a bar first and a restaurant second. Though a little shabby looking from the outside, the inside is quite clean, full of lovely wood walls/decor, and extremely friendly. There are the trappings of most watering holes in out of the way places (lottery machines, etc.) but the drinks are cheap and the service is really fantastic. There are mostly domestics on tap; however, you'll also usually find at least one or two beers from craft Oregon brewers - usually Widmer and Deschutes. The Black Butte is almost always on and in the Summer you can reliably find the Widmer Hefe. The food is typical bar fare. There's a wide selection of fried foods as well as some sandwich options and a hearty country meal option of meatloaf/roast/etc. Overall, if you're looking for a friendly place to drink a cold beer, watch a game, and meet some friendly local folks, give it a shot. read more

Rode up with a friend from Salem on our motorcycles today. Nice day and a great ride on the back roads. Streets were clean and the sun came out. The Boondocker is great. I like the atmosphere. I had the lumber Jack burger and steak fries. Excellent! I also had a root beer and my glass was never empty. That is a great plus for me since I drink a lot of root beer. My friend had the special of the day burger and he really enjoyed it was well. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. And also a great cook. We will be back with more riders. read more

First time here! Will definitely be back. The food is amazing. Homemade super flavorful! I had pizza and my husband had the big pig burger. The crust on the pizza was tender, but crispy on the outside, good quality cheese, delicious sauce and the toppings were clearly superior. The burger was like butter, a little kick with the bbq sauce, highly recommend. The wait staff was awesome Johnna was wonderful super friendly and attentive. And the other waitress was great as well! Not a great destination. Not terribly clean. Bathrooms are not ok. Food is hit and miss. Have had great meal one time, followed by not good. The dinner salad is very nice. The service, again hit or miss. I don't like feeling like I'm intruding. Don't complain or send anything back..... poor lighting, with cords running all over the place.
