It seems like a lot of reviews mention drink prices and watered down alcohol but that's outdated now since they started including drinks with the purchase of the ticket. Overall a good experience. Cruised around the monuments. Our group had fun, we went for a friends birthday.

This is a fun thing to do for the kids! My niece had her birthday and I took her as a surprise and we had a lot of fun Sunday. What was even better is that the boat ride was discounted half price on Goldstar.com for $10. The boat left at 12:30 noon, but they give you about 10 min as a grace period before they ship out. Boomerang could be a bit more specific, in regards to where you load, 3100 K St. ?? Nowhere to be found, don't waste your time going to Will Call, all they do is ask for your name once you're on line. The boat actually pulls up in front of Fiola Mare located at 3050 K St. (the Italian restaurant facing the water). They have all types of cool activities on the boat like face painting, line dancing, and a storyline for the kids, where they help open the treasure chest aboard the ship. It's a really cute idea and I was glad that DC had its own Pirate ship, because the first time I had heard of this, the pirate boats were leaving from the Baltimore Harbor. The staff is funny, spirited, and are totally in character using Pirate Speak the entire time. We cruised for an hour. Aboard the ship are bathrooms, with a cash bar, soda, water, and chips. If you can get the $10 deal go for it! Great for kids 10 and under.

Extremely sketchy experience just as so many others reviewers commented but unfortunately did not read. Arrived a full 30 minutes late but the end time was not adjusted. For some reason we were not allowed to go on the top deck of the boat where a group was sitting- like it was a private party but no explanation was given. By far the most unfortunate part was spending over $100 on drinks for the three of us ladies but remained entirely sober. Not even a buzz and we are not drinkers. Was warned not to drink too much by a group of ladies leaving it as we were getting on and didn't understand what they meant until now- this company waters down their alcohol so that you keep buying it. It's too bad we fell for it and hope you don't make the same mistake. And just as many others commented- the staff on the boat are extremely rude.

What a fun group activity. This is the second year I have had a group of friends come together for a Pirate Booze Cruise along the Potomac and as they had last year the staff at Boomerang delivered. Is this the most exciting boat ride? If you make all your friends dress up and commit to the them then yes! The drinks on board are your standard bar drinks with a shotski thrown in for some fun moments. Upstairs on board is gorgeous, this past Saturday we had beautiful weather and a breeze that kept us cool. Honestly this is the best way to see the monuments and the Potomac view of DC without having to deal with all the horrible tourists crowding the mall. The perfect length of time, I truly can not sing the praises of this cruise enough, as both times we've ridden with Boomerang have been a blast! Thanks!

NOTE: This is for a Sunday Band Gig, and perhaps, LOADS different from their regular service. This was a planned band gig that was marketed to the crowd they wanted, not an everyday ole pirate ship adventure on the Potomac. We went specifically for a REALLY fun, REALLY cool chance to see The Last Rewind on a Sunday afternoon cruise, while still being home in time for dinner. Embarkation was super easy, Georgetown waterfront right where the only pirate ship is. The crew were all great! Helpful with the few questions we had, they did a great job of keeping decks cleared, and the barkeeps were awesome! Drink prices were fantastic for what this gig is, 6 beers for $25 bucks, and the bar cocktails were fair at between $6-8 a drink. Realistically, that's cheaper than even the bar areas that back up to the GTown waterfront you board the boat from. This Bermuda born and raised boy enjoyed their version of a Dark & Stormy. A big cooler of water was available, gratis. Seating is slightly limited, so be prepared to stand for a while if need be. Bring sun protection. There are bathrooms, but of the marine variety so don't expect a spa. There Is a little enclosed, out of the sun, bench seating area around the bar that does it's job of providing a little retreat from the sun. The band was awesome!! The captain did a great job of "parking" the boats on the return circuit under the Memorial Bridge where, if I might add, the acoustics were amazeballs! SO AWESOME! All in all, not only do I recommend a trip on the Boomerang, I can't wait to do it again! Your experience may vary, as this was a Sunday Session event, but it was still awesome.

How can you go wrong with a cruise down the Potomac in a giant pirate ship with music and decently priced drinks? This is a good time and some people get really into it and even dress like a pirate. Drinks aren't too expensive at around $5 for a beer and $6-8 for a mixed drink. Go during good weather since the whole ship is outside without much covering. It's kinda expensive at full price so check Groupon or Living Social and save some money for grog.

I'm so torn between wanting to give this 0 stars and wanting to give it 5. Hence the 3. This is a review for the adult tour leaving at 6:30pm on a Friday. So this is a pirate ship. It's a super cool and unique concept, which is why I was unbelievably excited to go on it. That, and I love pirates. Pros: Pirate boat Good drink specials Beautiful sunset Good DJ music Cons: Boat arrived at least 15 minutes late (not sure if that's usual) Bathrooms were disgusting They didn't serve snacks like they said on their website No interaction between people I think this would have been better in a group (and if we all dressed up) because ultimately it serves it's purpose: to be a pirate boat, sail around the Potomac, and sell drinks. I think it could be improved a lot more and hope it will be in the future!

A great activity for kids 10 & under, and an "okay" experience for anyone else. The pirate theme is nice, but be advised this is not a soothing type of cruise.People aged less than 21 are not permitted on the evening cruises. We went on the 2:30pm cruise and the ship sails rain or shine, and boy did it rain. The crew members are all dressed up in pirate themed clothes and the boat really feels like a pirate ship. What's more rewarding is the crew members enthusiasm in getting the kids involved, he even taught everyone some pirate words. 45 minutes in, it started raining and that made the trip a lot less enjoyable, don't come when rain is in the forecast. They were still dancing and doing tattooing but we had to take shelter inside. Eventually we had to turn back due to weather and to my surprise they said they will be giving everyone a FREE ticket! Talk about good customer satisfaction. Improvements: -They could have easily mad a tarp over the boat to block out sun and accommodate for rain. -Also they should not charge $10 for the pirate pack for the kids, they should make it lower or give it away for free. Will update when I get the chance to take a full ride.

Had a Certifikids deal. It was cute, but compared to 1 we had been on out of Annapolis, MD, this was just ok. The actors were nice, safe, and enthusiastic, but we (2 adults & 5 kids from ages 5-10) felt like it was just ok.

If the boat hadn't been decorated, I would have easily forgotten I was on a pirate ship. We chose the 6:30 adult cruise. Many guests had a hard time finding it since it wasn't clearly marked but thankfully everyone made it on time. The cruise itself was nice. The sunset was beautiful and we saw all of the monuments. There was top 40 music playing the whole time. We were happy to discover the upper deck which allowed us to hear each other and get a little break from the 21st birthday party. The only "snacks" were individual bags of plain potato chips for $2 which even the bartender looked pained to offer me. The drinks were reasonably priced for DC. We mostly stuck with rail drinks since the mixed drinks were too sweet and the 12 ounce beers were actually cans for $5. Most guests said they were disappointed there were no games or entertainment apart from the music. There was no interaction between crew and guests. We were glad we did it for half price on groupon. We made the best of it and had a good time, but wouldn't do it again.

I thought this was reasonably fun, but it would've been bad bad bad if I hadn't bought tickets with a bunch of friends. I'm not saying I'd do it again, but I took some nice photos from the river and it was a beautiful day. Don't do this to meet new people or anything. We did the early evening weekday cruise from Georgetown that includes an alcoholic drink. It wasn't at all "piratey" and it played current Top 40 music the whole time, so I guess it depends if you like that kind of thing. It wasn't too crowded, and after the initial rush, there wasn't a line for drinks or anything. This probably would've made more sense if they didn't call it a Pirate Cruise, because now people actually expect some kind of pirate thing beyond a red ship with a pirate flag (and once in the middle of the river, where they have a little skiff circle the boat and you can fire tiny water guns at it briefly).

We had a great experience but this isn't a tour cruise at all, you have the Washington monument and Lincoln memorial as a backdrop for photos but that's about it. You also don't go very far out on the water. However, it is perfect for kids. I took my 9year old daughter and I think it was her most memorable moment in DC. Crew was very engaged, fun, and in full character. It was a hot day they offer free ice water and cocktails for $10. There's a cute storyline to keep the kiddies engaged, which leaves time for the parents to sit back and enjoy the ride. I would definitely recommend this to other parents as an activity but it is not a tour, if you are looking to learn something this wouldn't be the right fit. Nonetheless, it really was a lot of fun and it's affordable.

The 21 & up pirate boat trip was SO much fun! Really great for groups, birthdays, bachelorette parties, or just to have a fun night in general!
