Friendly staff , great location and even better food. This is usually our go to on the first night we drive on the outer cape. Always dependable and delicious. This time We started with 1/2 dozen oysters and 1/2 dozen clams. I liked the littlenecks. They were smaller and tender. The oysters were great although this time missing some of the brine. I had the mussels with a cajun cream sauce and spinach which was just simple great. A nice bit of heat , butter. , cream and spice . My wife had the scallops with Butternut risotto and asparagus. It too was a delight and all sorts were well cooked. It is always a delight to come here. Fish properly cooked and always something new twist to try. read more

Went here with some girlfriends on a Thursday at 4. It was the perfect time to go. We got an outdoor table on the second floor. Great view. We came for the oysters and they did not disappoint. Perfectly brine-y and so fresh. We also got the truffle fries, which were delightfully crispy outside and soft on the inside. The green onions, garlic and aioli put them over the top. We got a lobster arancini that was just ok. I had a Prosecco that was definitely overfilled. Happy times. My friends got a beer and a white wine. Service was fine, nothing spectacular but attentive and polite. Oysters, fries, drinks and the view are the way to go here. read more

No joke this is one of the best Pasta dishes I have ever had! My family and I go to Cape Cod every summer and we have eaten here many times. I have never ordered this dish and now I will get it every time I come to this restaurant! I got the Shrimp Scampi and the portion was big and delicious! I ate the entire bowl in about 15 minutes! Solid spot to relax after a day at the beach and enjoy a variety of seafood dishes. Bookstore & Restaurant is a step up from the typical hole in the wall seafood on the beach places but maintains the casual atmosphere. We enjoyed the food here. The Yellowtail tuna nachos were excellent - large portion for the price and the Asian flavors were spot on as were the thick pita like chips that came with the dish. Large enough to be an entree or shared with several people. The fish sandwich featured fresh fish that was quite tasty but very hard to eat. It didn't contain the usual thick batter breading that holds the fish together so the super flaky fish fell a part when you eat it with your hands so I had to go fork and knife. That said it isn't heavily fried so you don't have a greasy mess. The restaurant is quite large so it can accommodate large groups and families with kids. You can have a nicer more formal dining experience inside or relax by the bar or outdoor deck for the casual beach dining experience. Service was okay and the food came out fast. It's been around a long time, and this is it. With two levels, there are plenty of seats to accommodate many customers. We last dined here long ago, and some things have changed. We sat upstairs for the first time on our recent visit, and the interior looked quite pleasant. I opted for the chicken parm, which was pretty tasty from the inside out. It comes in a pretty significant portion, and thankfully, I was able to finish it all up. I can't imagine how popular this dish is. The Seafood Reuben was slightly less of a hit for me--the cod was crispy but lacked flavor, and the Swiss cheese was slightly melted. The use of coleslaw instead of sauerkraut in my opinion was a mistake, and I found the sandwich overall to be a bit bland. The fries were delicious--very crispy and piping hot. All the oyster dishes are outstanding except for the oyster stew which looks like gray dishwater and tastes terrible. My husband loves the fried scallops & I adore the mussels in garlic & wine. They give you the best crusty French bread with it to soak up the juice. Service is typically efficient and the view is sensational especially from the upstairs porch. Request a seat there. Always a nice breeze even on the warmest days. Gets VERY crowded. read more

We tried the bookstore and glad we did . Usually we go to the nearby beachcomber but it is so hard to get in there The food was excellent the clams were so fresh. There is free parking and a beautiful beach across the street. If you have children there is also a playground and skateboard park next door. Came for lunch after a very successful morning of bird watching. They have outside, inside, upstairs seating e we other a great water view. Staff was very nice and service excellent. the wife started with a Bloody Mary and I had a blood orange Margarita. The margarita was okay, bloody was good. Then the wife ordered the roasted beet salad. Our lovely server brought extra plates without asking. The salad was huge and delicious. Next we had steamers and fried oysters. We've walked passed this place for years and then we decided to have dinner here. We got there early and by 6 pm the line was on the street. We did not have a reservation - just came about 5:30. The menu is unique. It offers so many fresh choices that it was a touch decision - however I got my lobster roll here. It was big pieces of lobster great portions and French fries. Same price as everywhere but this was the real deal. Service was prompt but not rushed. A great place for late afternoon and then a walk to ice cream on the port. This is a keeper. This was our first time here and I was pleasantly surprised that on a Sunday night in the middle of summer they were able to get us seated right away. We sat on the deck with insane winds, but it was the kind of wind where you think you're on a rollercoaster minus the nausea. I decided to get a rum based drink, which was delicious in its tropical goodness. The Oyster Po Boy was also pretty good, it was my first time having fried oysters and the bread helped counteract the fried breading. Later in the night my stomach was quite upset so that is why it was given four stars. Also got a chance to watch the sunset. Everyone in my group had fish tacos -you can get fish or shrimp - they are fried but delicious. My weakness is fried chicken sandwiches- they have a killer one. I got it without the aioli - I'm more of a purist when it comes to this sandwich. Great wine and beer list. Try the Bravium Pinot Noir .... it's off the charts ! Only tasty food was the clam chowder (which was really good). Everything else awful and expensive. Potato skins burned to a black dusty crisp. Fried fisherman's feast was tiny for $40. If I hadn't got an appetizer it would have literally not been enough food. None of it was seasoned, so the fries and cod were just bad. The crab cake appetizer wasn't really tasty, something less than generic. Swordfish sandwich wasn't anything special either, but had a tasty tartar sauce to redeem it. Waitress was ok. At first I thought she was working people to order more food, but she was just correct, all the portion sizes were tiny. Also didn't get great refills. This is one of my favorite restaurants on Cape Cod, I go there every year and I always have the Oysters Rockefeller which is Five Wellfleet oysters baked with a blend of spinach, parmesan cheese, panko breadcrumbs and topped with mozzarella cheese! You will NEVER have fresher oysters as these oysters are caught right across the street in the Famous Wellfleet Bay! They are absolutely delicious! read more

After a few years we decided to try it once more. And again it is still worth the visit. The fish was fresh. Everything was caught that day or the day before. We had a wonderful Pan-Cooked Tuna which was moist, Sweet and Sour as if it was maid in Japan. It was idea. We also had orders of fried Shrimp, Scallops, Cod, and Salmon. All we ideal. We even started with salads and an order of Oyster Rockefeller which had garlic, spinach and a flavor of lemon. This was nice to have. The places was packed. We had to wait 30 minutes to get in. It took us 2 and a half hours to eat. The staff was nice. A bit slow at times and they needed some help. But the chef was good and that did help. The place sits right on the water and it is a good view. Maybe ages ago there was a bookstore in it. That store sits a mile away. Such is the location. Enjoy. read more

I've been here numerous times. They have great outside and upper deck seating with a water view. The food is consistently good. I tend to bring visitors here because they have a good variety on their menu and outdoor seating. Staff is always friendly. The inside atmosphere is nothing special so sitting outside is preferred.
