Best bookstore in the area. Don't know what everyone's problem is. Guy sells books, guy is nice. Get over it.

I'm always a little nervous with new stores, especially if there aren't women working there, but really needed some titles I'd missed and haven't regretted going to Temptation's Comics & Guitars. Jerome treats me with the utmost respect, and it's something I cherish dearly in comic book stores. He's always incredibly helpful, too, to the point that I was able to send him a wishlist of a favorite character. Also, since my family was compromised and before we were all vaccinated, he brought my comics to the font of the store, as well, and I deeply appreciate his efforts; I've been coming back because he is such a lovely person and takes such good care of his customers. His FB says to call in first due to fluid times they're open and I would suggest it, too; calling has insured he has what I've been looking for or wasted trips if the store was closed. I would also suggest keeping an eye out: the intersection where the store is closed can be a little confusing and the store has a big yellow sign. That's what I always look for because it feels tucked away with a small parking lot. I normally steer women away from smaller stores if I don't know them well, because this is a concern almost all other women comic fans I know struggle with. It's a shame, because small stores like this get caught in the crossfire. I personally would recommend this store to women fans, especially if they're looking for older issues that they can't find elsewhere. (I haven't been looking for big books, but I know from talking to Jerome he has them and they sell quickly.) I'll suggest calling first again, because he may not have what you're looking for if it's a specific issue or two, but I feel very comfortable reaching out and asking, which is new for me and smaller/independent comic book stores. Thanks!

It's always been super-easy to update my subscription and I love discovering all the pop culture gems when I visit: used records, CDs, DVDs, Disneyana, games, toys, and of course comic books! All at reasonable prices. I love the bins of action figures; you never know who you'll find! Free handicapped parking can be found in the metered lot behind the shop on Chestnut Street. There are also several handicapped spots on Moody Street. Shop is handicapped accessible, though it is a pinch cramped in the back. I've been able to maneuver with a rollator and cane. If you need help navigating or reaching anything, the owner is happy to help.

As a Disney nerd I was very excited to scan their vast amount of Disney collectibles. Statues, pins, books, comics, stuffed animals, die cast cars, you name it they have it. As soon as you walk in you can smell the paper, books and comics from wall to wall. The gentleman that works there was extremely nice and helpful with trying to find certain comics my oldest was looking for. It definitely let me walk down memory lane with some of the old comics they have available. The pricing is reasonable too, if I didn't budge well I'd leave that store with empty pockets but with a treasure trove of goodies.

It's the kind of place where you want to take your time & stare at every display. If you love comics, collectibles, or just stuff that makes your inner nerd scream w/ joy, this store is an absolutely must see! Pricing went up from the last time I was here but honestly what hasn't. Prepare to spend a good amount of bucks b/c once you see everything it's hard to leave empty-handed. Visiting here has officially become a tradition for me every year when I'm in Salem & I def can't wait to go back!

The walls are crammed with figurines, masks, and memorabilia--some genuinely cool, some you could find online for half the price if you can spell "Amazon." But hey, Salem tax is real, and apparently nostalgia comes with a surcharge. The store itself is brightly lit, which sort of kills the "spooky collectible" vibe and makes it feel more like you're shopping in a dentist's waiting room with masks on the wall. Window displays draw you in, but once inside it's a quick lap and you're done. Definitely not a place you'll get lost digging through hidden treasures--unless you consider Funko Pops a rare find. The staff? Friendly, technically. If they talk to you at all. Some days you'll get a warm hello, other days you'll wonder if you accidentally broke into the store after hours. Overall: it's fine. Quick in, quick out, nothing offensive but nothing remarkable. Three stars for existing, charging too much, and reminding me that in Salem, even plastic monsters cost a premium.

This is an odd place…read more I read the other yelp reviews and thought that sometimes you find good deals and hidden gems at messy shops. So I thought I'd give this a try. I don't mind digging through old boxes. When I walked in I noticed what all the other reviews mentioned. There was trash throughout the store. Just straight littering inside the store. Looks like a place someone started building but never finished. There's a wall of NCBD and some boxes sprinkled throughout the store. I looked through them and it was all .50 cent type of books but with no prices on them. All filler books. Most boxes were just empty. I asked the guy working there if they had any bigger key issues and he said not usually, if anything big comes in they put it on eBay, not the store. Then why have a store? I didn't find anything worth buying even though I looked for a while. To be fair, the gentleman behind the counter was very nice. I just don't understand why he'd have a half empty store and the only part that is full has nothing but filler. He also had some regular books and DVDs. Altogether this felt more like a yard sale than a comic book shop. If you are looking for NCBD this is your spot though!
