We're so lucky in PG to have this wonderful music store! They recommended my kid's violin teacher and we buy all our music books there. Very reasonable prices, great selection, and incredibly kind and knowledgeable staff. My child plays the flute and the violin and we've been very fortunate to have this place so close by; they also generously support local music studios putting on recitals and give the kids gift certificates for participating. Outstanding place to get print music of all kinds; most complete collection of classical music anywhere around. Plus they specialize in guitars and ukuleles. I wanted to give my wife a ukulele for her birthday. All three staff members spent a good deal of time on two occasions showing her instruments, explaining what the differences were, and answering questions. We've been very pleased with the instrument she finally settled on. It's also possible to arrange lessons through them. Don't be put off if the manager is a little brusque sometimes. She's very knowledgeable and helpful and will make sure you get what you need. read more

I stopped in looking for a piece of sheet music for the piano. One of the nice ladies helped me even though she thought from memory she didn't think they had it. Then she went the extra mile asking me to wait a minute or two - went around one of the tables looking through another section and not only found the song I was wanting, but it was in a used book with every other song of the musical - and - she sold it to me for much less than the sheet music for a single song would have cost. I love people who help customers and don't worry about the profit to them. I walked away very happy and will always go back and/or refer Bookmark Music when needing anything musical. read more

I called ahead to make sure that this store would be able to get my son's trumpet cleaned. They said yes just drop it off during business hours. Today I went into the store with my 12-year-old son and my seven-year-old daughter. We were immediately chastised for not putting sanitizer on our hands when walking in the front door. We walked immediately to the right and we're distracted by the great selection of beautiful socks. I apologized for not putting on sanitizer for myself and my children and there was no response from the woman working. She was pacing around the store for a while and I could tell she was in a bad space. My kids and I decided to give her some time to do whatever it was she was doing and we browsed around. My seven-year-old daughter picked up a magnet and was looking at it. The woman who was working stood about 10 feet away from her and screamed at her "you will have to buy that if you put it in your mouth! We can't sanitize that now! And pull your mask back up!" This item was not in my daughters mouth. In that moment I chose kindness and said "I'm sorry about that and goodbye" and we walked out of the store. My daughter is now upset and distraught over this stranger yelling at her. We are now at a time when masks are not mandated. My kids have been traumatized by the Covid pandemic and have had issues with masks/no masks rules, and a fear of and germs, so this interaction just worsens their experience. It was a great opportunity for me to open up a conversation with my children about not being reactive to other peoples negative energy. I'm very disappointed because I had heard great things about the store. I will never return and will spend my resources elsewhere. read more

This a great place for ukulele enthusiasts. They sell some quality made ukuleles off the shelf, however I am not familiar with the brands they seem for. I do not discriminate a finely made ukulele even though they are not a popular brand. The shop is well stocked with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you're looking for a good ukulele, they have some decently priced and high priced ukuleles to suit anyone's needs. They also have a bunch of accessories for your instruments as well. read more

She also gave me a follow-up call a couple days later just like she said she would with some information about when they'd have something in stock. I don't expect that sort of service these days. They Saved my choir-singing bacon ! I am a part time professional singer living in Marin and lost my beloved high end choir music folder of many years. Since an important musical performance event was coming up VERY soon, I called numerous stores in the Bay Area and could not find a Small World "The Black Folder Deluxe" , which is kind of the gold standard for sturdy work-horse professional singers folders. On what I thought was a very long shot, I gave a call to Bookmark in lovely Pacific Grove and talked to charming and witty Pamela who said, "Yup, Have it. They have a huge selection of sheet music here. I was looking for a self-teach book on piano and after browsing awhile, the woman behind the counter asked if I needed help. She found me a really great book as soon as I told her what I was looking for. My complaint, however, was she made a pretty condescending comment after misunderstanding me. I had just told her I had somewhere to be so I might need to come back, but as I was flipping through the book, I said " well, now I'm not going anywhere!", to which she responded "well that's because you didn't read anything. It's not a picture book." What I had meant was that I was excited to find the right book for me and didn't want to leave, but after she'd said that, I was really ready to go. She wasn't particularly kind to me. I enjoyed the music selection, but I'm not in a rush to be talked to like that again. read more

I went with my three young children and the older lady there was just grumpy and rude. She is not good with kids at all. I found what I am looking for and will purchase online for my piano students. Wonderful local business with very helpful staff. They have a great selection of Ukuleles at all different price points. They also have all the accessories that you would need to get your career as a Ukulele master off to a good start. There are general books on the how to play and individual song and theory books by your favorite Uke stars. I know this because I have bought many of them!!! They also have what looks to be a great guitar section (I don't know too much about these)....They have a great in house ukulele/guitar teacher (Steve).
