We were browsing stores on Lighthouse Avenue and were attracted by the wind chimes displayed outside Artisana Gallery, so we went inside. With the help of a friendly staff person, we found just what were seeking, a reasonably priced set of wind chimes in the right pitch range. There is a large selection of great sounding wind chimes. We got the Corinthian Bells 30" (color Plum), which have a delightful tone. read more

I'm ecstatic they're open and surviving during these difficult times for small businesses. Stopped in today from out of town and purchased sustainably made aromatherapy candles, beach themed coasters, and four absolutely gorgeous locally designed and crafted mugs. I'm updating my mugs and supporting local artisans at the same time! Looking forward to coffee and tea with these mugs and coasters and my guests will appreciate as well. I have other items on my wish list- next time. Happy Birthday to me! I give this store 5 stars as it deserves nothing less. I love everything about Artisana Gallery- the atmosphere, it's display of items-so many beautiful things to be seen. including the nicest chimes, one could find. Lovely jewelry and, so many more items, that would make a relative, friend or acquaintance very happy. I think it is the perfect store for resident, or tourist. and is one of the 'Gems' in Pacific Grove's crown. On a girls' trip with my mom, sister and daughter, we decided to do a little shopping while in Pacific Grove. This shop was amazing with a wide assortment of art from local artists as well as beautiful jewelry and souvenirs. I purchased a pretty watercolor of the local lighthouse as well as some souvenirs. My partner and I have lived in PG for about 4 years now and frequently walk downtown on the weekends. I have been in this shop a handful of times but have never experienced the poor customer service (or complete lack of) like I did today. We walked into the store around 1:30 and were the only customers inside. We were not greeted (I don't expect a lot of conversation while I shop and prefer to do so independently but a simple "hello" seems like a common curtesy), but not the end of the world. We spend about 5 minutes in the store and started looking at wind chimes which was the main reason we stopped in. I have been at home a lot spending time healing in our backyard after my heart surgery so we were hoping to purchase a wind chime for some extra healing energy. Once we began looking at the wind chimes she finally acknowledged our presence and asked which wind chime I was looking for. I responded with the items 4 digit store number code on the tag and she rudely responded "I know how to look for them". If she knows how to look for them then why ask me which one I'm looking for? Confused and shocked by her extremely abrupt and rude response I said "the green one". Assuming this could be the "right" answer? At this point I knew I was not going to be spending my money here. Disappointing as we always chose to support locally when possible. Won't be back. read more

I love this shop! I always find something to call my own when I shop here! Tonight, I found a mermaid with wings Christmas ornament. I have a Christmas tree with a "flight" theme and this ornament is a truly unique addition! Adrianne was so sweet and came from behind the counter to show me other "flight" themed ornaments. Great little shop in PG featuring arts/crafts of local artists. First thing I noticed when popping in on my last visit to CA was the store smelled great. The shop was full of unique jewelry, photographs, artwork, gifts, cards, and pieces of jade as well as other gems. Mom and I had a great time browsing this store and I came away with a cute pair of earrings and a calendar featuring watercolors of local area scenes. The woman working that day was so helpful and friendly. I would definitely stop in again when I am back in the area. read more

This is my fave store -- wish they were closer to me! Or maybe not...I can't resist the wonderful things they have. The natural stone jewelry is fab. I was there two years ago and got a couple pair of earrings, back this year for three more! If you enjoy unusual and interesting jewelry, cards, crafts and artwork this is the place to be! I travel a lot and am always interested in supporting local artists... found this place to be just right. The owners are thoughtful and knowledgeable. When I explained a bit about what I liked I was pointed in just the right direction -- and ended up buying several hand crafted necklaces -- each supporting women artists/designers in PG, Africa and Bali. They were able to adjust the length on two necklaces that I loved, but that were too long for me. I appreciated that very much. I appreciated the unique line of pottery that was on display... and next time I'm back will take a closer look. I do intend to return! read more

I wanted a Himalayan Salt Lamp and saw some for $19.99-$24.99 at Tuesday Morning (FYI- the lamps at TM are made in China and have been recalled because plugs have caught on fire). I figured....okay...I can afford that. I left the store to think about it. I ran into a friend who told me that Artisana carried these lamps as well, so I called to get a price range for the ones they carry. Adrianne was a huge help and knows her products. I bought a lamp from Artisana. The one I bought was from a company called Aloha Bay, who is Fair Trade and believes in good wages/benefits for their employees. This is what sold me. I am very satisfied with the customer service I received at Artisana. If you're looking for great one-of-a-kind gifts and art, shop local and go to Adrianne at Artisana. While the store has mostly tourist-type items, they have items from local artists too. The store has a sign asking that the artist's work on display not be photographed. That rule is completely understandable. However, I took a picture of the box of a factory manufactured item because I wanted to know more about the claims regarding the item (i.e, a salt-crystal candle). Again, this is an item was manufactured by Aloha Bay, not created by a local artist. The Artisana store clerk loudly and a bit rudely said, "There is no photography in here, didn't you see the signs?" I said that the sign specifically referred to items created by local artists. At that, she did become rude and argued the sign meant there should be no photography at all. Thus, the clerk was not only rude, but incorrect about what the sign said regarding photography. My wife was about to make a purchase and decided not to buy at this store. There were two other members of my group who also did not buy items. Thus the store lost business attempting to enforce a rule that was not written on the signs in the store. The items my wife was going to purchase are available at other stores and the internet. Ironically, I took the picture before the clerk stopped me. The clerk would have been better off asking if I had questions instead of what she said because that would have stopped my photography of the item and she may have made a sale. read more
