Ordered mixed meat platter. Food was warm. NOT HOT. Wait was bit too long for only 1 other table with guests. I mentioned it to our server. Told kitchen is cold in the winter ???!!!?? My plate was stone cold instead of being warmed up prior to serving food on it. Basic chef knowledge. Pljeskavica was dry and of course border line cold. As far as taste goes, it was good hence why 3 stars. As much as I want to give them another chance, I don't think I'll be going back.

I had never tried a serbian restaurant before. And wow what an experience. I have to say that if you like eastern european food, you will like this place. The food was amazing. I ordered the mixed platter and everything was delicious. The best one was for sure the rolled schnitzel because of the melted cream cheese. The only thing about this place is that I feel like the prices were quite high for the quantity you get. Worth an experience once in a while though.

Very meat-centric menu and filling! The service was pretty good and the decor was nice. However, the restaurant was quite loud since most tables had kids/toddlers. We had the grilled platter which was a good way to sample everything. Also noticed all the other tables had crepes, which I just assumed was popular until I saw other reviews saying it's complimentary. Though this wasn't offered to us, so I guess it just depends on your luck? :P

It was my first experience of Balkan food, so I don't have anything to compare it with. But the food was amazing, decor was fancy and our server (to whom I promised to mention his name here, but I forgot it. It was so hard to remember) was so friendly and professional. He also offered us crepe for dessert which was good too. I had KARADJORDJEVA and my mom had Cevapi, both were so delicious. The Cevapi was well grilled. I will definitely go back.

Finally made it back here for dinner last night. It's our 2nd visit and I still remembered how much we loved it the first time when we came. Discovering Serbian cuisine was the best thing ever! If you are a foodie, you must try Serbian food! It's too bad that we weren't living in the west end or we would be here on a regular basis. Last time we had the mixed grilled platter for two small which is a perfect dish if you are coming for the first time - a little bit of everything. Since this was our 2nd visit, we tried a few new dishes - pljeskavica (minced meat steak), Karadjordjeva(schnitzel rolled up stuffed with cheese) and of course Cevapi (minced meat roll) which is my favorite dish. And you can choose any 2 sides - I recommend the cole slaw, rice and/or potatoes. It was all very delicious! And to finish it off, they gave us free dessert - sweet crepe with your choice of topping. The Nutella one is my favorite! The portions are huge so you will definitely be full and the service is excellent.

Note: Not really as casual as a "cafe", but I'd say Serbian/Modern European is more accurate. Parking: Paid parallel in front of restaurant on Bloor OR Green P on either side of the restaurant. I didn't note any parking specifically for Bonimi around back OR it wasn't marked properly. There are no parking signs in the residential area directly behind the restaurant. Location: Diagonally across the street from Islington Subway stn. My dining companion said the food at Bonimi was very similar to Royal Meats, so if you've ever been there, that would be a close comparison. (I've never been, so I cannot comment.) However, I wouldn't really say it's a "light" meal, unless you just get a salad. Entrees are more meat 'n potatoes type fare. Average entree prices were around $15 for a "small" portion and I'd say that small is quite generous! I shared a small Bonimi Schnitzel (battered, rolled up, with cream cheese, & deep fried) + a small Cevapi with my friend. That was more than enough food, and we were both stuffed, although we didn't have any leftovers to speak of. Both food + sides were good. Home fries were more like hand cut wedges. And I really enjoyed the baked beans! Again, not "light", so if you're looking for more of this kinda meal, it's a great option especially considering the area.

Share platter for four with homemade bread & beans | Complimentary Nutella crêpe

If you're a meatatarian like me then this is the place for you! I came here with my family for a birthday dinner and we ordered the share platter for four which is chock-full-o grilled and deep fried meats. And it can definitely feed more than four people! Everything was delicious and our server was very nice (the girl with the Marilyn Monroe lip piercing). On top of the already awesome food we got complimentary crêpes for dessert! Tip: Choose the homemade bread over "regular" bread...it's only $3 more and it's so worth it!

Never thought I'd be giving 5 stars to a Serbian/Croatian restaurant but this place is dynamite. I enjoyed their grilled squid with potatoes and vegetables and of course my husband went for the ćevape. The kajmak was delicious. The quality of the food is insane and the portions are generous. The service was just lovely. It was almost better than my mom's and dad's home cooked traditional meals. And their bread! I think this is the first time my husband and I polished off a whole bread basket. Our meal ended with complimentary Nutella and hazelnut crepes that just put us in a state of ecstasy. From now on I'm taking all my family and guests here. Just wonderful.

    Ćevapi and potatoes. Yum

They gave us the table directly in front of the counter where the cashier stays, so I requested a different table which we then had to wait another 10 to 15 minutes for. This is not at all a complaint as it was requested. The service was good but most of the servers didn't really speak English, which I guess is to be expected in Chinatown. I don't have any complaints about that. The food took about 10-15 minutes once ordered. We ordered the Grilled Squid, Grilled Oysters, Beef Ribs, Chicken Thigh Skewers, Bean Curd Rolls w/ Cilantro, Grilled Eggplant and Cauliflower. Pretty much everything was over flavoured and lots of MSG. The beef ribs were quite good. Not the best I've had but good. The chicken skewers were fine. The oysters tasted pretty decent but I only had a couple bites of one because I'm not a huge fan of oysters. The bean curd rolls were fine but they could have been better if they took the time to put just cilantro leaves in there not the whole stems, which made them take forever to chew. The grilled eggplant was good only because I love eggplant, there was waaay too much seasoning for the thin piece of eggplant. The cauliflower was my favourite but again, the seasoning should be toned down. The Grilled Squid we both took one bite of and could immediately tell it was either not fresh or not good quality so we didn't eat it. They removed it from the bill as requested which we appreciated. They had free self serve slushies which was a cute touch. Overall the staff and service was good but the food was below average, which was disappointing given the restaurant's rating.

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

We walked into a lively, casual space that works especially well for groups, celebrations, or any meal where you want to take your time and enjoy the experience. The energy in the room is high, with the sound of grilling and conversation filling the space, and the table setup encourages a longer, more relaxed pace than a typical restaurant meal. The biggest highlight is the meat selection. The quality is consistently strong, with different cuts and marinades that give each plate its own flavor. The miso steak is one of the standout items, with a really good balance of savory, slightly sweet, and rich flavors. The marinated meats are where Gyubee really shines, coming seasoned well and developing a great char from grilling at the table. We worked through a range of options including kalbi, hanger steak, and sausage, mixing and matching as we went. The fun part is being able to control the cooking yourself, whether you prefer a lighter sear or a deeper grilled flavor, and the grill setup makes it easy to cook at your own pace. The sides and extras are also better than what we usually expect from an all you can eat BBQ spot. The sushi was surprisingly enjoyable, with smaller portions that made it easy to try different rolls without filling up too quickly. The bibimbap is another good addition, especially when paired with the grilled meats. Takoyaki and other sides helped break up the meal and added variety beyond just ordering meat after meat. The spread is broad enough that you can build a well rounded meal without feeling like you are stuck in a single category. Service was a strong part of the experience. Even with the restaurant being busy, the staff were attentive and checked in regularly to make sure we had what we needed. They kept the table moving, helped with ordering, and made the process feel smooth despite the constant flow of guests. The wait can be the biggest challenge, especially during dinner hours, but the service once seated helped make up for it. The staff also handled the high turnover of tables well, keeping the pace steady without making us feel rushed. Gyubee is one of those places where the experience is just as important as the food. The combination of grilling at the table, quality meats, good sides, and a fun group atmosphere makes it a great choice for a longer meal with friends or family. It is worth planning ahead for the wait because the meal itself delivers the kind of relaxed, interactive dining experience that makes you want to come back. The format encourages you to slow down, cook at your own pace, and enjoy the meal as a shared activity rather than just a quick dinner.

Really disappointing experience…read more I placed a $200+ Uber Eats order for myself and guests on a Friday night, expecting a reliable dinner from a BBQ restaurant. Instead, I waited over an hour with no update. When I finally called the restaurant to check on the order, I was casually told that it had been cancelled because they ran out of food. The problem is that no one bothered to notify me. No message in the app, no call -- nothing. I was simply left waiting for over an hour for an order they apparently already knew they couldn't fulfill. What made it worse was the attitude on the phone. The person I spoke with was rude and dismissive, with no apology or attempt to make the situation right. Now I'm told the refund could take up to 10 business days to return to my credit card. Running out of food happens. Ignoring a $200+ order for over an hour on a Friday night and then being rude to the customer is unacceptable. Plenty of better BBQ options in the city -- I won't be ordering from here again.
