I came across Bones as I was wandering downtown during my two week stay in Vancouver. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Even though there were pet stores closer to where we were staying, I always found myself returning to Bones. They carry venison treats products which are difficult to come by in Los Angeles, where I live. I wanted to stock up before I return to LA the day after tomorrow, however I didn't have access to a car. To make a long story short, the staff went above and beyond to deliver products that I ordered online and when I went outside to pick up the delivery, the employee yelled "Have a good trip!" Come on! You just don't get this kind of service anywhere! read more

Add my review to all the otters 5-star reviews. This store is wonderful! The Marc Tetro totes in the window first captured my eye. I love this artist so much and have purchased his doggie art in NYC a few years back. I never thought I'd see his merchandise here in Vancouver; this store carries a lot of his breed-specific items (totes, purses, wallets, key chains, note cards, and many other accessories). The prices are in line with those I saw in NYC. There's a surprisingly large selection of leashes and collars and coats and doggie booties, etc. I say it's surprising because this is not a large store. But they sure pack a punch. Whoever does the buying for this store does an amazing job. I didn't check the dog food selection but, from the other reviewers' accounts, there's a decent selection of high end dog food and the prices are good. What truly stands out about this store is the staff. Each time I've visited, I've always been greeted warmly and always asked if I needed assistance finding something. Once I came here with my mom who was visiting from Montreal and her dogs have a really hard time walking on salted roads in the winter. The guy was so patient with us, showing the various doggie bootie options, and he was incredibly knowledgable about the products and their carious pros and cons. He also said they had a website and my mom could order products online, to go to Montreal if so desired. (If only my mom knew how to order stuff online, but I digress.... hahahahaha). Anyhow, the staff here are outstanding: friendly and knowledgable and truly want to help out. And the product lines are super, with unique items I've not seen on the west coast, anywhere (I just moved here from Seattle and I've not seen many of these lines in Seattle stores, too). My new favourite pet food store ! The girls were so welcoming, helpful and friendly. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted very warmly. They then asked if we needed any help finding anything. When I brought my kitten food up to the front, they asked me about my ferrets ( the kitten food was for them ) We chit chatted for a few mins, then one girl gave me a few samples of some food to give to them as a treat. This was very unexpected, and most appreciated. The other girl rang me up with a smile. They both wished me a good evening, and I was off. Coming here was just pure luck and whimsy! I am incredibly impressed by the top notch customer service I received. Welcomed upon entry. My needs were addressed and several great recommendations were made for my fur baby. Since she is 10+ years old and has had some health troubles since Xmas, I asked for lots of food samples. I stumbled into this little pet shop while walking around waiting for my boyfriend to get off work. The shop is organized, clean, neat and very well displayed. Bones pet store is luckily close to my apartment, however; if it weren't, I'd make the trip. They have always been very informative and lovely to gather advice from and they are pet friendly! I've purchased a wide verity of items from costumed tags, food, toys and grooming products and I've never been disappointed with a recommendation. You will pay a bit of a premium when shopping here, about 10%-15% more than corporate chains but it's worth it for the service and support of local business. read more

Bones is a wonderful store. Pasha and team are a great bunch and always provide consistent and excellent customer service. We come here when we want to buy high-quality items such as car seat harnesses, airplane-compliant carriers etc. because they carry all high-quality brands. They also carry toys and unique gifts I haven't seen anywhere else. One Christmas everyone in my family received a Marc Tetro Boston Terrier mug ^_^ I also came here before we got our puppy and bought a really nice blanket that he still uses and is in great condition. This is amazing because everything else from that era has been utterly destroyed. Bones also hosts K9 Gentle Dental (also awesome) where you can have your pet's teeth cleaned. Our trip to Vancouver was made by our trip into Bones Pet Stores with our birthday pup, Archie. My boyfriend and I decided to take a quick trip up to Vancouver for Archie's birthday because everyone was telling us how dog-friendly it is there. Welp, color me silly. Vancouver is pretty dog-friendly. However, it is definitely no more pup accepting than Seattle. In fact, it seemed LESS friendly considering we couldn't find one restaurant downtown that would let us bring our dog. But I could tell you at least 3-4 pubs with food around downtown Seattle that will let you in with your pup. Anywho, after an annoying morning of searching for a place we could all eat without leaving Archie behind in the hotel, we opted to grab food while we walked to Bones. This local pet supplies shop is so adorable. You'll find all kinds of natural dog treats, foods, supplements and more. I snagged liver bits to shake over Archie's kibble, two homemade chicken snacks, kangaroo jerky, a squeaky alien toy, and few other things. The staff and owner showed us some cool items that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere but there. Archie LOVED walking through the store. It's so nice to be able to walk into a store with your dog and let them pick out their own prizes. The staff is super attentive. The prices are reasonable, if not comparable to big box stores. They carry foods and treats you can trust. And the store is very clean and organized. If I lived closer, this would definitely be my pet store! read more

We went to their new location on thurlow tonight which is just two blocks from our unit. The store is spacious and carries awesome brands that are normally a bit harder to come across. Love that they carry so much ruffwear gear! We asked for some advice in regards to kibble for our dog that is hypoallergenic and has a very sensitive GI! It's no wonder that many people had given this pet store great reviews. The gentleman who owns the store has never failed to give great customer service (this review is mostly about it). He is knowledgable of his products. He offers good advice on dog apparel when I had a little struggle in the size dept., for example. Bones is quite flexible with their return and exchange policies (within good reason, of course). The owner encouraged (or wasn't hesitant to suggest) to have our dog try a coat at home (after paying for it, of course) and he would be glad to accept the return or an exchange if I wasn't satisfied. I didn't have to bring it back. There was also a younger man who was helpful, gave me some tips and dog treat suggestions. The staff there is always approachable. Last but not least, they offer high quality and healthy foods like Ziwi, and some Canadian-made clothes. Bones Pet Store is legit! Too bad I live in Seattle because I would come here all the time to get my dog food! Located right on the corner of Smithe & Cambie, Street parking was plentiful when I came in on Saturday morning. Bones carries high end, natural dog and cat foods (dry, wet and raw diet foods), along with natural treats and other pet needs as well. I came in solely looking for Acana dog food, which is made in Canada. Being Asian, I wanted to see if buying the food here would be cheaper when I incorporated the exchange rate, and I was in luck! Prices at Bones are extremely reasonable and are very competitive to buying online. I bought a 25 lb bag of Acana Duck & Bartlett Pear dog food for $81 CAD (before tax) which equates to about $57 USD, roughly $20 cheaper than the states! Regardless of the exchange rate or not, the prices here are awesome. What really stands out here is the customer service! Pasha, who was helping me with the dog foods was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I was informing him that I wanted to give more of a variety of foods to my Doberman and he was nice enough to throw in some samples of Acana & Orijen for my pup to try! Talk about good customer service, something that is hard to find these days! Good thing that my best friend lives in Vancouver, because now it'll give me an excuse to stock up on dog food and give my business to Bones! read more

The owner apparently don't care the customer, I could give zero star if there is an option. because when I purchased a 50 dollar leash in this store last October, the sales told me it's expensive because it has a lifetime warranty. So I asked for any reason the leash broken, will it cover? And the staff said yes. But today, only after 3 months, I was walking my dog Bonjour crossing the street, Bonjour saw another dog and ran to him, I dragged him hardly and the leash was broken and I was so scared! Fortunately nothing happened to Bonjour when a few cars stopped immediately. So I went back to the store and the owner said it's not covered by the warranty because the dog chewed it. So I said the sales was saying for any reason, the owner told me he need to verify with the sales, then after he checked the record, he said the sales left the company and he couldn't help. So I told him the sales represented his company by then, and asked him "so he left the company, is this my problem?" but the owner insisted because he trained the sales, he trusted the sales wouldn't say for "any reason" and he prefer trust his staff over the clients, and then he even confirmed "yes, it's your problem"! I remembered it very clearly the sales told me "because it's warranty can cover any damage, that's why it's very expensive as a small leash". And I asked this owner If "chew" is one of any reason, he just insisted he trusted his staff over the clients. Fine, you don't care the clients, and I am fine, I learned the lesson to be away from the business like yours, at least I wouldn't put my dog in risk like this anymore because of their over promise and not reliability.
