I have been shopping at the Moonlight Dog Cafe for five and a half years, almost since they opened. Eb and Jo (the owners) and the staff here were lifesavers when I first got my young rescue dog. They had so much good advice and referred me to a great dog trainer. I was able to bring Molly to the store and hang out in their seating area while she played with other dogs that came in. They have created a really warm and welcoming store, and a friendly community. Their sell high quality products (food and otherwise), and I feel happy knowing that anything I buy there is supporting my dog's health. If i could give this place a million stars, I truly would. My cat was near death from Kidney Failure and the prescription food given by his vet was literally killing him. My sister in law introduced me this place and Eb called me on the phone and asked me to read the prescription diet food (K/d) to him. Animal bi-products? Saw dust? are you kidding me? Why would I give my family member food that is not fit for humans? Used to enjoy supporting this store until recently. Purchased a new dog food for my dog. Did research on the food, the brand, and from other dog owners who are also clients of Moonlight Dog Cafe. My dog had an awful allergic reaction to this raw food and became ill, bad hives, massive lumps! We only used 3 patties from the box, before our dog became very ill. We of course ordered this via their online option. We contacted the store to see if we could exchange the food for a different brand and their said no. They said we should have tried a small amount first. Well when your store offers the online purchase maybe then that's something your staff should offer when you pick up the food, especially if you regularly buy your food from that store and they can see your trying something new. When we picked up the food they handed the box and said your good to go. Disappointed the fact that they don't stand by the products they sell and they don't want to keep customers happy by offering an exchange. We didn't want a refund. We wanted to get the old food we have purchased in the past for our dog instead of losing 80$. Will be giving a different store our monthly purchases. With a our second puppy now coming up to the age of raw food. We will definitely be spending 200$ plus a month on food elsewhere! read more

(minimum order/location dependent - I live in DT) I feel obligated to write a glowing review after they gracious refused a tip I wanted to give them after last night's delivery. They were so kind and accommodating; having a miserable day at work, I scattered by brain and completely forgot about the delivery I'd order for yesterday and after missing them TWICE (once at 6:30 and then again at 7:30), they so kindly offered to deliver my order after their dinner! I need a bonus star for Moonlight Dog Cafe! It is not as good as it gets, it is THE best when it comes to pet nutrition in addition to their awesome pet accessories as well. The store is open, spacious, well laid out, clean and welcoming. We were looking for raw food for our two dogs and after I mentioned that the brand Nature's Variety is quickly making me house/dog poor, the owner guided me to the multiple freezers of raw feed that they carry, with FOUR Canadian brands!!! How awesome is that?!?! Ok, so now that we have choices...what do we choose? Where to start? Fear not, for the two owners have done all the the research for you. From the break down of meat vs produce ratio, where it's made, how it's made, per pound cost breakdown, why it costs more or less, it goes on...I can easily spend half a day there basking in their knowledge. Walking out with my bag of doggie goodness I felt good. I no longer have to compromise between cost and the health of my dog. There are a lot of dogs living in Downtown Vancouver, even more so in Yaletown. Moonlight Dog Cafe has one of the biggest selections to raw feeding (or raw treating!) for your pets in the downtown core. More importantly, the two owners have extensive experience with a dog with allergies and after speaking with them, you can tell that they have your pet's best interest at heart. I especially have a soft spot for stores that are adamant against offering force-based "training tools" like choke, prong, or e-collars. They have monthly full moon promotions that have been great to have our dog try out certain foods, and usually have samples for your dog at the counter to test out. Of course, having a super food motivated means he wants to eat -everything-. :) They've been integral in the socialization of my silly reactive rescue dog, having us hang out in their lovely lounge while chatting and slowly introducing my dog to their ever patient Shinji. Moonlight dog cafe is the place I realized my dreams of grabbing a coffee at a nearby cafe, a book from their small library of pet care literature and cozying up with my dog for an ideal afternoon. This is by far my favourite store in town. Like most stores they have a great variety of food, toys & supplies, at fair pricing. But 2 things set them apart from the rest. 1. The store is well organized and it's cleanliness is remarkable (a rare quality in the local pet store network). 2. Wow. Was so impressed by the people here and the service we received. I called to double check the location of this store because I've been in the area a few times and have not noticed it. At the end of the call, the person who was helping me asked if we were coming over for anything in particular and needed anything set aside. When we arrived, our case of raw dog food was ready for us. The staff were friendly and asked if we would need any help getting the 25lb box to our car and when I said we would be carrying it back to our home over the bridge they said "we deliver!" For any orders over $50, they will bring your purchases right to your home. So convenient! It is great to see a business rocking it with their customer service. Nice new store that just opened up. They seem to have a great selection of both raw food and dry. Upon speaking with the store owners it's apparent that they care very much about the quality of the ingredients in the foods that they stock, and have curated the most trustworthy brands. Near the front of the store there's a charming rustic table full of locally produced items for your pet. A unique feature of this store is their lounge area. A great new option for healthy dog and cat food! Their raw selection for dogs and cats is huge, much better than I've seen elsewhere. Prices are reasonable, the owners are really friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The owners are also knowledgeable about pet food and have researched every brand of canned and raw food they choose to stock. Moonlight Dog Cafe gets 5 stars because they just have such a good vibe. Eb and Joanna intended it as a combo coffee shop and pet store, and while you cannot (yet) get a cup of coffee there -- they're working on it -- it's become the community hub they envisioned. I go there sometimes just to visit and listen to tunes, with or without my dog. The seating area up front is great for reading, writing, or working while basking in the AC. And yes, you can also buy stuff, which I do often because a) I have a dog, and b) I so appreciate the space they've created and want to make sure it's successful. Unlike some of the other shops I've frequented, they don't go for the hard sell -- they just educate and are generally chill, friendly, knowledgeable, values-based people. read more

My husband and I are in the city for the holiday and we stopped by to check out the cafe and grab a gift for family members who love dogs. My husband browsed while I grabbed my computer with my coffee and surfed the net. I think Bones Pets is the best pet store in Vancouver. I always avoided Monlight as they opened after Bones and made no sense why they would open so close to another independent pet store. Anyway thought I would check it out. Store is ok ... cute in some ways. Lady I talked to seemed to be quite opinionated and not really interested in what I had to stay. I purchased a bag of treats for my baby ... only to see at home that the package was expired. Not a great experience ... but for a regular pet food store ... it fits the bill. read more
