Hampton Roads Veterinary Hospice - Hannibal Craig LeDoyen

Hampton Roads Veterinary Hospice

I cannot describe how grateful my husband and I are that these services are available to us. I…read moreinitially emailed, outlining the issues our lab-pitty mix, Hannibal, was exhibiting. The responses we got were respectful and informative; we made an appointment for a quality-of-life assessment. Dr Mindy Brewster came to our house and spent a long time with us discussing our options; Dr Brewster made her recommendation, making sure we understood there was no pressure. She recommended euthanasia as opposed to hospice or palliative care. It was kind of like we KNEW what we needed to do, we just wanted to make sure. I had already read all of the information on what to expect; as difficult as it is I HIGHLY recommend anyone else do the same. My husband had not read the info, so Dr Brewster explained what Hanny's passing would look like. Hanny passed pain-free and in deep sleep; he was on his Serta bed in front of his fireplace, and he had a peaceful, calm, and beautiful death thanks to Dr Mindy Brewster and Hampton Roads Veterinary Hospice. It was the last gift we could give him.

I can't imagine anywhere giving us better advice, care and love when putting down a beloved pet…read more From the instant I first contacted them, they were very prompt in responding and helping us with our needs. I was overwhelmed by the care every member of the staff provided us. Having an assessment by a hospice vet truly gave us an objective opinion as to what step to take with our precious Josie. I truly appreciated their advice and sensitivity to the matter. Dr. Masterson and Dr. Dean were exceptional. I can't say enough about them. The staff that helped us over the phone were just as great. I would use their service over and over again if I had to. A wonderful, wonderful hospice vet.

They traveled from Virginia…read moreBeach to my home in Chesapeake and groomed my 14-year-old Morkie right at the curb using their mobile grooming trailer, which made everything incredibly convenient. My senior dog was treated with patience and kindness throughout the appointment. Owners of small or older dogs will really appreciate the calm, one-on-one attention that mobile grooming provides. The grooming was perfect -- clean, neatly trimmed, and styled exactly as I hoped. I'm so pleased with the service that I'll definitely be using them again, and they have a great referral program for friends and family. If you're looking for professional mobile dog grooming in the Virginia Beach or Chesapeake area, I highly recommend Diggin Your Style Mobile Grooming. The convenience, care, and quality make them a top choice for pet owners.

I have been bringing my Bichapoo to this location on and off for eight years. It seems there may be…read morenew staff members who are not as experienced. My husband brought our dog in today for grooming, and although it has been about six months since her last appointment, which is normal for us and she did look a mess. The staff called my husband stating they would need to shave her completely because she was "severely matted." This is not accurate. I personally combed her out about two weeks ago when I was considering grooming her myself. It appears they may not have brushed her before bathing and blow-drying, which can actually create mats if not done properly. They then showed my husband a video that did not demonstrate a need to shave her bald and told him that refusing the shave could result in injury, an emergency vet visit, or even animal control involvement if she "bit" someone. In the eight years we've used this groomer, we have never once been told that she bit anyone. My dog may fuss or growl when uncomfortable, but she has never bitten a person or another animal. It felt as though they were trying to pressure my husband into approving a full shave rather than taking the time to groom her correctly. This used to be a great place, and I'm extremely disappointed in how the situation was handled and how responsibility was shifted instead of acknowledging their own mistakes. I guarantee you when I get home I will be able to comb my dog out and properly shave her. It just takes time. We already pay $75 dollars even an extra charge to the $75 for extra time is understandable but to try and just shave the poor dog bald and then threaten us with the ER and animal control is just wild. The owner responded to this review elsewhere and it's extremely disappointing. There is a complete lack of accountability with this business and the owner straight up lies. My husband is not a liar and would never claim they threatened to call animal services if that were not true. Just because they did not want to take the extra time to properly groom my dog does not mean I expect them to treat an animal inhumanely. Suggesting otherwise is unreasonable. As paying customers, we have every right to bring up concerns when services we paid for are not completed properly. If nail trimming, sanitary trimming, and ear plucking are included in the service--and they were not done--then yes, I am absolutely allowed to say something. Each time we brought up minor issues in the past, we did so respectfully, they corrected them, and we moved on. We have never been rude. To now portray us as the problem for pointing out services that were missed or them just being LAZY is unacceptable. You are the business, the professional, and the expert. Grooming a dog properly and without causing harm should be the standard. We had no intention of returning regardless, but the unprofessional, defensive, and hostile response from the owner only further confirms that!! Do not go here because if they mess up they will not take accountability and they will lie!

So we used to drive 30 plus mins awat to take our 2 dogs (Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Westie /Jack…read moreRussell mix) to another kennel. They were just ok. Our dogs are our little furkids, so them being taken care of the same way we care for them is what we want from every kennel. So when I drove past this kennel and then proceeded to look them up I became very interested at switching kennels. I stopped by a week before to get the walk around. I was blown away by what I saw and Krista's professionalism. I switched kennels immediately and had our dogs stay there for a week. The following items listed below are why we will never go anywhere else and I will recommend this place to everyone I know. 1. The kennels the dogs sleep in are extremely clean, have AC/heat, a wooden couch, a doggie door, and more room than I have ever seen over the last 8 years. 2. The ranch has over 20 acres of playing area. The ranch is very clean, well maintained, and gives your dogs a lot of space to play or relax in the sun. 3. Our dogs got hours of supervised playtime a couple times a day. Our dogs came home and passed out immediately once we picked them up. 4. They are exceptionally priced (She could charge a lot more and we would pay it) 5. Krista- Last but not least, she is the number one reason we will LOVE this kennel and will go back. She is professional and very informative about how she cares for the dogs. She sent pictures and updates about how our dogs were doing every day! It made us feel very taken care of as customers and dog owners. She even watches to see were the dogs like to lie down in their large kennels and moves the beds to the spots they prefer to be in the room. She also played music and countless other little small things to make sure that our dogs did not stress about us dropping them off and leaving. Its small things like this that set this place apart from every place we've kenneled our dogs over the years of moving around the country for the military. The dogs appeared to always be clean in the pictures we got and when we picked them up they both smelled and looked great! Krista treated our dogs as if they were her own. There are very few people in this world we feel 100% comfortable with taking care of our dogs and she is one of them. This place will be our home away from home for ours dogs. In a way it's a mini vacation paradise for our furkids. We LOVE this place!!

I received updates and pictures everyday. I could tell the staff cared for my dogs, as if they were their own fur babies! Their communication and flexibility made the boarding process so easy.
