Spoke with the owner yesterday who seemed to be wonderful. Took my Pomeranian in this morning to be groomed by the owners daughter and had concerns with the noose they use around the neck. I was told it was for safety since they have many dogs to groom while grooming her and would have to step away which I tried to explain if she was to step away and my dog moved away the noose would only damage her trachea or worse yet hang and break her neck. I explained she recently got hot spots and my concerns with those also to give her a little background information. She was the Rudest and dismissive, lacking concern. Because of my concerns she refused my Dog which is a good thing to find out sooner than later. They appear to be overbooked and lack Empathy. Very disappointing considering I spoke with the owner the day before on the phone and she seemed so kind unlike her daughter. Beware, they also keep your dog 4 to 5 hours due to having to multitask while grooming other dogs I was told, while you think your dog is getting all of the attention. The positive is I didn't leave my sweet Dog with the owner's Daughter and her experience be upsetting or harmful, as she seemed to definitely lack compassion. read more

I have been bringing my Bichapoo to this location on and off for eight years. It seems there may be new staff members who are not as experienced. My husband brought our dog in today for grooming, and although it has been about six months since her last appointment, which is normal for us and she did look a mess. The staff called my husband stating they would need to shave her completely because she was "severely matted." This is not accurate. I personally combed her out about two weeks ago when I was considering grooming her myself. It appears they may not have brushed her before bathing and blow-drying, which can actually create mats if not done properly. They then showed my husband a video that did not demonstrate a need to shave her bald and told him that refusing the shave could result in injury, an emergency vet visit, or even animal control involvement if she "bit" someone. In the eight years we've used this groomer, we have never once been told that she bit anyone. My dog may fuss or growl when uncomfortable, but she has never bitten a person or another animal. It felt as though they were trying to pressure my husband into approving a full shave rather than taking the time to groom her correctly. This used to be a great place, and I'm extremely disappointed in how the situation was handled and how responsibility was shifted instead of acknowledging their own mistakes. I guarantee you when I get home I will be able to comb my dog out and properly shave her. It just takes time. We already pay $75 dollars even an extra charge to the $75 for extra time is understandable but to try and just shave the poor dog bald and then threaten us with the ER and animal control is just wild. The owner responded to this review elsewhere and it's extremely disappointing. There is a complete lack of accountability with this business and the owner straight up lies. My husband is not a liar and would never claim they threatened to call animal services if that were not true. Just because they did not want to take the extra time to properly groom my dog does not mean I expect them to treat an animal inhumanely. Suggesting otherwise is unreasonable. As paying customers, we have every right to bring up concerns when services we paid for are not completed properly. If nail trimming, sanitary trimming, and ear plucking are included in the service--and they were not done--then yes, I am absolutely allowed to say something. Each time we brought up minor issues in the past, we did so respectfully, they corrected them, and we moved on. We have never been rude. To now portray us as the problem for pointing out services that were missed or them just being LAZY is unacceptable. You are the business, the professional, and the expert. Grooming a dog properly and without causing harm should be the standard. We had no intention of returning regardless, but the unprofessional, defensive, and hostile response from the owner only further confirms that!! This is what I like to call a "Millennial Business"; they do the bare minimum, explain the bare minimum, yet charge an arm and a leg for services and serve it up with a little bit of attitude. The first time I brought my dog here I was actually really happy. He smelled good, the haircut was nice and it seemed like overall they did a nice job. The second time I brought him (2 weeks ago) the haircut was less nice and I specifically asked for his anal glands to be expressed. No more than a week later his butt started to smell again, which is a sign of anal glands not being expressed. So, I called the shop and asked about it and she said "well, sometimes they fill up in a couple of days". That's a load of crap. Anal glands take weeks to expand. So, I brought him in so they could do them again and 2 of the girls approached me and said "we didn't feel anything in there. We're only trained to externally express them, so you'll need to take him to the vet to do anything more than that". Cool. Thanks for NOT telling me that on the phone and wasting an entire hour of my time driving out there when you could have explained that in 2 minutes. If I could give negative stars I would. These arrogant, rude and malevolent people who work and own this pathetic business completely butchered my dog's hair. It's going to be a long explanation below, brace yourselves. My senior dog, a 14 y.o. shih tzu named Roxy, was taken here one previous time about a month or two prior and they did an excellent job. No issues or obviously we would not have brought her back. On July 3, 2020, my parents brought her in for another grooming appointment. Now, my mom has taken her to various places throughout her 14 years of life (Animal Adventure, Canine Designs, Petco). The only reason we went elsewhere is because Canine Designs has not been operational lately due to COVID. Anyway, my mom is EXTREMELY thorough when giving instructions for when Roxy gets groomed. Since Roxy was a puppy, she has written clear and concise notes to give to the groomer EACH time she gets groomed (i.e. short cut, keep ears long, top knot or put hair in pig tails, keep rest of hair short). Honestly, it's pretty impossible to mess it up when you have directions. She is a senior dog and does have occasional seizures. Knowing this, Glawmorous took on Roxy with her age, medical conditions and approval from her vet to say she was allowed to be groomed. Hence the fact that I mentioned that she has been groomed here previously. Today, she was groomed and upon picking her up, her hair had been completely butchered. They cut her top knot hair OFF. My dad asked why and was given then answer, "Well she was wiggly and non-compliant when we were trying to trim her hair so we just chopped it off." I'm sorry, in what world is that ok?! If she was not being cooperative, why would you not call either of my parents and inform them of that before cutting it off? It was a solid 5 inches or more of hair that was taken down to about 1/2 an inch. There's no way to do pigtails or a top knot that she usually has. My mom called to address the situation and naturally, the owner, Donna? Dawn? Debbie? Might as well have been Karen. Whatever her name is, was extremely rude and refused to take responsibility for what happened. She instead provided excuses. She quickly said that no one ever told my father that Roxy was giving the groomers a hard time. Her next excuse was that they don't take dogs over 12 years old. Funny you say that because Roxy is 14 and you didn't mind taking her last time as well as our money. The third excuse was that my mom's instructions were confusing. If they were confusing, you should have asked for clarification when my mom went over them with you and asked if you had questions. The fourth excuse was that you tried to turn it around and say that she was wobbly and therefore she should have been groomed in the mobile grooming unit. Ok? So why did you not do it there? There are so many excuses here but not one of them makes ANY SENSE. Take responsibility! My father also said that one of your lovely associates said, "Well, she needed to get that weight off of her head anyway." Quite frankly I don't think that's your decision to make or your groomer's decision. It's not your dog--thankfully. I wouldn't take her back to your salon if my life or anyone else's life depended on it. You offered to not charge us and to bring her back. Why would we do that? It looks like a 2 year old child cut her hair. It's embarrassing and you should be ashamed to call yourselves a business. I will let everyone I know about how you handled this matter and how disrespectful you were on the phone to me. I'm sure your response to this will say otherwise, however the pictures tell the truth. I specifically asked for a teddy bear cut for my toy poodle and he looks more like a racoon. I asked for his tail not to be shaved, they shaved half of it. I asked for his ears to be rounded. I am very disappointed in the visit I had today. my 2 year white Pekingese needed to be groomed and trimmed (shaped up). she doesn't get groomed as much as she should but she is a good dog. I paid $75 basically for a bath. she looks no better than when I do it myself. they said they didn't want to traumatize her to trim her hair. So, it seems me that this company might out source their mobile grooming service because I set an appointment and hired glawmorous pet pawlor but a van for Club Wag based in St. Pete, Florida showed up. They treated my dog well as she wasn't skittish when she was returned and she smelled amazing. HOWEVER, her nailed were clipped rough and uneven and left unsanded and very chipped, her eyes were hardly cleaned and her glands weren't expressed. For a hundred dollars, I expected way more. I took my 3 sweet pups to Glawmorous Pet Pawlor for the first time on Friday and needless to say, I was horrified. I have a Great Dane, and Shih Tzu, and a Yorkie. I picked up my boys from this grooming salon in the afternoon after my husband dropped them off in the morning. After getting them all leashes up and in the car, I noticed that my two little ones hair cuts were a little choppy, but that is not what upset me. So let me paint this picture. I am driving back home with my pups in the car on the highway. I look in my mirror to see my Great Dane unsettled and whining quite a bit, however I did not think much of it seeing how he's a very needy dog. Well I happen to glance back and see red on a binder I had borrowed from a colleague. Confused I look back again to investigate. To my horror, I see blood everywhere. My seats, my jacket, my colleague's binder, and of course my poor baby. Naturally I am freaking out 1. because it looks like a crime scene in the back of my truck. 2. I have no idea where the source of the bleeding is from. 3. I am driving in the highway and I'm an area unable to pull over. So, I quickly change routes and head to my mom's house who is nearby. I called her freaking out because this has NEVER happened anywhere I have taken my boys to get groomed before. I arrive at my mom's house where she had assumed they cut his nails too short from what I was explaining on the phone and that it shouldn't be a big deal. However, it was much worse than she had anticipated. Like I said blood was everywhere. We took my Great Dane out of the truck and into the bed of my truck where you could see just blood pooling out from his poor paw. Upon further investigation, we saw that they had completely butchered his nails. They cut way past the quick of his nails on multiple paws, but the one that was bleeding was extremely short. We were able to get a neighbor to come over with some "quick stop" to help stop the bleeding. While my mom and her neighbor were helping my pup, I tried to call the grooming salon about 8x before someone finally picked up. I explained my situation and asked what happened and all the owner had to say was that he moved a lot and that sometimes it just happens. I told they that they should've at least told me so I could have at the very LEAST been prepared for the bleeding. I would not be nearly as mad if they would have just TOLD me, but instead, the owner responded "when we clipped him it barely bled and had stopped by the time you arrived." This is very hard to believe considering just how much blood there was (pictures will be posted for reference) I reiterated that they still should've told me either way and the owner responded with "I'm really sorry and if you tell me where you're at I can come and clean your car and help your pup." I declined the offer seeing how I did not that would rectify this situation at all. After the phone call had ended, my Dane's paw had stopped and re-bled twice in time I had called and hung up. After the bleeding had finally stopped we got the blood out do my car for the most part, and by this point I'm traumatized. They later called again from the salon and her personal phone number "checking in on him" and explaining that they found where he started bleeding by the front while cleaning and telling me that when they are anxious they can bleed more just like if a human was in a car accident. She told me to contact her personal phone number if I need anything and she'd come to help, but I declined again because I did not want any of those people near my dogs again. My dane's paw continued to bleed throughout the night, but by this morning it has stopped. Looking at his other paws, you can tell they not only clipped them too short, but they are jagged and uneven. I paid $220 and left $20 for tip for the 3 of my dogs to get not only cut poorly, but injured. Again I wouldn't be NEARLY as mad if they would have just told me to start with, but they didn't. And I got to find out driving down the highway completely traumatized and scared for my dog. read more

A Glawmorous Pet Pawlor is a MOBILE GROOMER. They come to you! They're more expensive because of their mobile service ($65 for my ChiShi pup), but it's well worth it! I've been to one groomer who was down right awful, another who was great but didn't check vet records, and another who did a great job but kept my pup for 3+ hours... So this is exactly why I LOVE the mobile "Pet Pawlor"- 1) Donna McPherson, the owner, was very friendly & did the EXACT cut I asked for. 2) Convenience- she came right to my house! 3) She was done in 1 hour, so my pup wasn't traumatized from being at the groomer allllll day long. 4) She asked if my pup is up to date on her shots & the name of her vet. (Even though she only has 1 dog in her mobile van at a time, I like knowing that no other sickly dog has been in there right before my pup.) 5) She squeezed in an appt for my pup at the last minute *FYI- Donna told me that she tries to squeeze in new clients, but regulars need to make an appt well in advance b/c she books up very quickly. I took my bichpoo here today for the first time because my groomer was closed due to Covid-19. They did an amazing job on his grooming and practiced such great caution with drop off and pick up. You walk in sanitizer provided place your pup in a crate up front and leave. Only one client allowed in at a time for drop off. We took our two labradoodles here for the first time this week. The staff was able to get our pups in quickly. It had been several months since they had been groomed. Despite trying to give them covid cuts ourselves, our doodles needed some serious attention. The groomers did an excellent job leaving our dogs hair longer despite having some mattes. We have been taking our puppy, Lucy, to the salon in Chesapeake and she's been there 3xs and each time I've been amazed how fabulous she looks when I pick her up!!! She even has a prancing dance! The ladies that take care of her are so generous and kind. The owners daughter did her last cut and even my husband thought she looked "stinking" cute! He never says a word about her cuts. I showed her a pic and said just a tad shorter and it looked just liked what I was thinking in my head!!! I just moved to the Chesapeake area and was looking for a groomer for my Samoyed. I found this business on google and was able to get an appointment same week. When the news announced bad weather for the day My dog was scheduled, the Pet Pawlor called me in advance and was able to squeeze me in sooner. They washed and brushed my dog out beautifully and not even a nick when they had to cut out her Matts which I was worried about.
