I took my rat (Christopher P. Ratt) for a check up and ultimately to be put down :(. They were so kind. They got me in as quickly as they could and were very sympathetic about my situation. I received this in the mail a couple weeks later. You guys rock!

I've been coming here for a couple years now and at first I really liked them. The vets I love. They both seem to really care about animals and are very friendly when talking to me. However, I have never cared for the front desk employees. There's 1 or 2 in particular that are very friendly and welcome you as you come in. The rest seem to have no personality and do not welcome you as you come in. This morning the lady at the front desk was checking out another customer. I waited for about 4 minutes a without a single "I'll be right with you, or good morning." When it was my turn I said "good morning" and all she said was " I'll be right with you." After another 2 minutes she says " who are you here with?" I proceeded to wait another 5 minutes to have my cat called in the exam room. It was 8:28am. My appointment was 8am. I love the vets here. They're great. The vet assistants are friendly and knowledgeable. It's the ladies out front at the desk who are short, not very friendly, and a bit rude. Because of this, I cannot give 5 stars. The employees who deal with customers are the first things to make an impression. Also, there's no reason why I should still be waiting to see the Dr at 8:48am when my appt is 8 am. ‍

My first time visiting Hickory veterinary hospital was awesome! I followed my Vet from another location (Dr. Hancock) and her assistant Kristina. I LOVE my Vet! She is the kindest, sweetest and most knowledgeable Vet ever. I highly recommend Dr Hancock and the Staff at Hickory Veterinary Hospital.

I received updates and pictures everyday. I could tell the staff cared for my dogs, as if they were their own fur babies! Their communication and flexibility made the boarding process so easy. I was so nervous but Krista was so welcoming and is practically an expert at interpreting dog behavior. I loved that we were able to do a meet and greet before my pups stay. She introduced her wonderful dogs to our dog and quickly determined our pup would be a good fit. She gave us a tour of the the dog ranch which was impressive. I was relieved my pup would have is own large temperature controlled room to sleep in. Their dog ranch is very organized, they have an excellent system in place and routine for the dogs, lots of play time! I love that the dogs can all play outside, and that I was sent pictures of my happy dog daily. When our stay was prolonged one day, Krista accomodated us and our pup was able to stay an extra night, I would recommend bringing extra dog food in case you may return a day later than anticipated. I liked that we were able to bring our pups kennel that he loves to sleep in and his bedding. My dog has some anxiety so Krista recommended bringing boiled chicken and rice in case he didn't want to eat, that was a great idea and I love that they have a fridge to keep pets food as well. I would definitely recommend Ballypines dog ranch to anyone who wants their pet to be well cared for. It was good to not be stressed about my pups stay away from us, I completely trust them with caring for my dog. I also like that they require dogs to have all shots including the flu vaccine, bordetella vaccine and a recent fecal/stool test. In this regard it may cost more than other dog boarding facilities (that's because this is nothing like your typically dog boarding facility ) and is definitely worth it so you know your dog is less likely to get sick during their stay. My pup was so tired for two days after he returned home because he had a blast playing all day! We are looking forward to his next stay!

I decided to come to this location because I could get an appointment a few weeks earlier than at Kempsville. I am very happy that I decided to try the Great Bridge location and think I will continue to come to this location even though it's a little more of a drive from my home. This location is very small compared to the Kempsville location but feels more friendly and comfortable, it has a small town independent vibe that I like. I never felt rushed and didn't have to spend much time waiting. My Basset Hound was actually seen a few minutes before her scheduled appointment time. The staff is awesome and Dr. Alex provides great care. She's not shy about getting down on the floor to examine my dog and takes the time needed for a thorough assessment. Her knowledge and professionalism are much appreciated. The small private parking lot is more than adequate for the business and is not crowded like the one at the Kempsville location. There was plenty of room to easily park my vehicle. The pavement doesn't look fresh or new but it is clean and free of debris. I am very happy I tried the Great Bridge location of Acredale Animal Hospital. I now consider it my first choice when my pet needs care.

The 4 week obedience training with Angie, Savannah was transformed into a calmer doggo, with great manners, and way more confidence in herself than when we first rescued her. We also just boarded Savannah and Poppy (our older golden retriever) with Angie for 5 days. The facilities were top notch (indoor heated/cooled kennels with anytime access to outdoor runs instead of crates) and the attention that Savannah and Poppy got was fantastic. The pictures provided to us while they were boarded showed how big smiles both dogs had. When we went to pick them up, you could tell the dogs were given lots of love and attention. Poppy is my velcro dog and she did not want to leave because of the amount of love she got while being boarded. Savannah also did made sure to give Angie lots of love before jumping into the car. During our trip we asked Angie if she would be able to give Savannah a spa day with a wash and pedicure, and Angie said no problem and got it done before we had picked Savannah up. Pretty Smart Pet Services has all of our training, boarding, and now grooming needs for Poppy and Savannah and any future doggos we decide to get. The drive from Va Beach to Franklin is well worth knowing that Poppy and Savannah get the best care possible.
