It's Monday night and greeted by our server, SNOW, who rocked the floor with an on pointe skill of serving And true patience. The grilled shrimp and scallop scampi over linguine ($18) was great. I ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer ($12.50) and side of fresh asparagus ($4), both satisfied my appetite. Snow brought bread, twice and when I asked for more water, she brought 2. Had suggestions that were sound and was a delite. On a date it's so nice to have good service that doesn't interfere and so pleasant. She gave top notch amazing service. The kitchen was on point. Flavor profiles were very well thought out and plated well. Presentation and taste exquisite. The two cocktails we ordered from the bar were a treat as well. I have eaten at several "Bonefish" locations and have always had a good meal. Our waiter's name was Micheal, and a good wait he was. Trying to cover for the fact that the food was inferior. My wife had the shrimp and scallops I had the Cod Imperial both we have had elsewhere, both of our dinners were overcooked and the fact that the side dishes were not hot. She had a salad that was limp and we are sure had been sitting for some time. We thought that we would need reservations but with only six tables being used should have been a sign of what was to come. We will not be going back. read more

Bonefish Grill! Where have you been? Well, I know you are not in California - at least not yet. I am in town for business and went to the Allentown Mall to eat dinner when I stumbled across this place. WOW! First of all, I suppose you can say it is casual dining disguised in fine dining clothing. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a large wine bar area separate from the restaurant. All the servers wear chef's jackets, which I think is a nice touch. Their prices are not bad at all for what you get. I had delicious Chilean sea bass with a spinach and garbanzo bean mix and cheese potatoes. Oh, and there was plenty of sauce for the fish. The corn chowder with crab meat was outstanding and the vanilla creme brulee was one of the best I have had. The portion sizes are also generous. Overall, I could not find a damn thing wrong with this place. I was surprised to learn they are owned by the same company who ownes Caraba's and Outback Steakhouse. Been looking for a good restaurant in the area. It's pretty difficult to find one around here with decent reviews. Happened to be at Lehigh Valley Mall and noticed this restaurant. Of course, I had to check yelp right away and after seeing pretty decent ratings. We decided to have lunch here. The restaurant is nice with simple decors, soft yellow lighting, lots of seatings and I especially like the booths. We were seated next to a window which provided most of the lighting. It is not as busy as I thought it should be since we arrived at noon which should be prime time for lunch. Our waitress was very nice and spent a lot of time going over the menu with us as it is our first time here. We were overwhelmed with the options but decided on fish as the place is called "bonefish" and the waitress mentioned their fish is fresh, never frozen and hand cut by their manager for the best quality. Bread and pesto: good! The bread was warm, crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The pesto was good but slightly salty probably more so because I love pesto and was drenching my bread in the pesto oil. Bang bang shrimp appetizer: love the crunchy batter and tangy sauce. The shrimps are decent size too. Imperial seabass: stuffed seabass with crab, scallops and caper sauce. Fish was cooked well and moist. Sauce was bit salty for my taste but not overwhelmingly so. Came with 2 sides which included the seasonal vegetable and other side of your choice. The seasonal vegetable was corn, edemame, tomato and a bit of crumbled sausage which was tasty. I got a side of broccoli and that was ok. Grilled tilapia with chimichurri sauce: the fish was tasty and I would personally just eat the grilled fish on its own without the sauce. The fish came with sauce pour over the top and more sauce on the side. There are serveral sauces that you can choose from. I would ask for the sauce on the side next time. This also came with 2 sides. I also tried the blackberry with coconut water and this non alcohol drink was pretty refreshing. I drank most of it before I realizes that I didn't take a picture of it. Overall, I enjoyed the experience here. Service was good and the waitress checked on us several times during dinner. The ambience is nice. The food is good. read more

I like to call this review. NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER I am a active duty (Staff Sergeant, United States Army) from Allentown and I was on leave visiting family. On December 8th 2017 I made reservations to this restaurant for a show time of 5:30pm. Our waitress (Heather) was AWSOME!! She took care of us and was very professional. Our food was hot and tasted great. Here was the main ISSUE: My brothers and I were basically done with out plates but my mom was still eating. She is a slow eater because of the surgery she had to help her feel full at a faster pace. As we are talking an employee (Host) was looking over his left shoulder periodically looking at my mom's plate. My mom finally noticed. Host: do you need a Togo plate? My mom: no I'm still eating. I'm a slow eater. Are you trying to rush me out? Rush us out? Host: well no, but yeah because we need the table. (As he leaned over the extra chair. Then he paused looking at my mom before he walked off.) *Yes I was present for the entire situation and couldn't believe it!!!!! I called my waiter over and asked to speak to the manager. I told the manager the situation and she was shocked. She explained "we know it's busy but we do not force guests out and you could stay as long as you like." She asked me to point him out since I did not catch his name. As he was cleaning up a table she simply approached him and told him he needs to see her as soon as he's done. I do not know what words were said afterwards but the manager handled her job by reprimanding the Host. The manager returned with more apologies and even gave us a free entree or appetizer food card. She told us not to worry about the expiration date. This review was going to be (1) star because of the poor actions of that employee but I'm not going to allow 1 bad apple to spoil the bunch. Customer service is the first line of defense for a business and then the food. We weren't dressed to impress but we were dressed decent. I call this review; never judge a book by its cover because you never know who you are talking to or in this case serving. I left a $25 tip for a $116 bill. read more

I have always loved Bonefish, even though i usually don't praise a chain restaurant, but i always seems to have a great meal, great service and a good time when I'm here. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon with a friend, after shopping a bit. Ordered the classic Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer and a mojito. Delicious on both accounts. They did start serving brunch on Saturdays, so i ordered the BF and I some dinner to go. Ordered a Waygu Beef & Egg Burger w/ a side of fries for him, only to get home and find they forgot the fried egg, so it was just a plain ol' burger. Majorly bummed just because the fried egg was the "special" part of the burger. Got the Grand Mariner French Toast and a side of bacon. Both yummy and nice portion sizes. read more

Surprised and disappointed. Have eaten here at least a dozen times before this evening and always found the food and service good. The hostess and waitress were both new I think. Nervous, a few mistakes, but no problem, I am empathetic and friendly! Not so good though was the cleanliness. The table clothes and bench seats in our booth were pretty torn and dirty. But the kicker was watching the employee cleaning tables wipe off the table, then the chairs, then the salt and pepper shakers (same rag), then go to the next table, chairs, salt and pepper, repeating again and again! Ewwww!!!! Food was ok but tasted a little less good after watching that throughout the meal as I imagined the condition of the kitchen. read more

My husband and I attended the wine dinner at Bonefish Grill in Whitehall this week. The menu was excellent and we enjoyed the wines with each course. Also, the pumpkin dessert was very good and the pumpkin expresso martini was fabulous! it was a lot of food and we brought a doggie bag home...no complaints about the food...,the quality was good. One issue was surrounding the menu. The second course was to have a pasta with clams etc, and yet the course included mussels...not clams. We were told it was a regional thing ...our area had mussels. Several at our table did not like mussels. Our only other complaint was NOISE!! The tables for the event were next to the bar which was very noisy throughout the evening! it was hard to have conversation with others and it was a definite problem! Perhaps the event could be in the dining room where ut could be quieter and a much more enjoyable evening. I'm not sure we'd go again unless the location was in a quieter area of the restaurant. read more

Hi this is based on my recent personal experience. We were out for a few hours( yes with masks on). My husband wanted to eat lunch so we saw that this establishment was open. Restaurant was quit of course due to covid 19. Very nice inside, server was very sweet and professional. We ordered Calamari which was so chewy that I ate maybe 6 pieces and made my husband finish the rest. We didn't want to complain because this place is open during a pandemic and serving customers. I ordered the stuffed cod, mistake, so dried out but I ate most it. My husband order a special (grilled shrimp over coconut risotto) Shrimp was over grilled and the risotto looked like rice pudding with no coconut taste. Didn't stop us from trying a dessert which was a coconut pie. First she didn't let us know that the pie for some reason was microwaved? and so hot inside that I ended up with a small tongue burn. This dessert was just pieces of coconut with the worst tasting sauce ever. The cream on top was good. That concludes my experience at this establishment. Would I return.. no.. don't mind spending money on great food but not here. *I want to add that I am Thankful to those who are willing to serve the public during a pandemic.* Stay healthy!! read more

I was here for the Tuesday prix-fixe, which is a very good deal. Definitely recommend for a night out with the family. They did mess up our reservation (I had called earlier and kept trying to tell the man on the phone how many people we had in our party, he kept talking over me, and finally I just gave up. When we arrived they clearly weren't ready for a party of five), but they still seated us fairly quickly, even if we were a little crammed at the table. I had the house salad (salad needs to be really great to intrigue me, and this salad was very standard) and the salmon, which was good but a little overcooked. I also had the fries (actually very good) and the spinach (I could have made this spinach), and finished with the cheesecake. It was very standard food and my dish was good for the price, but my brothers both ordered the steak and it was very chewy and just not very well done. My dining companion suggested Bonefish so we could enjoy a few apps and engage in conversation. I agreed with trepidation because it is a chain. We sat in the bar area which was fairly crowded for a Monday night. It was loud, not from the customers, but from the overhead music blaring from above. We felt like we were in a nightclub rather than a restaurant to dine. We asked if they could turn the music down. Service started with the bread and olive oil dipping sauce, which was lovely, and the bang bang shrimp. The shrimp is good, always consistent from any Bonefish I have dined. Suddenly the music gets turned up again. We asked for them to again turn it down or we would gladly settle up and leave. The server turned it down, so we ordered additional appetizers, this time the mussels. The mussels were plentiful but did not deliver as described on the menu. From ingredients list of red onion, garlic, white wine sauce, all we tasted was sweet. We asked if they could take them back and pointed out it says nothing about sweet sauce on menu. Two servers said, "Oh, that is the anisette". No excuses, anisette is not mentioned at all, had it been, we would have selected something else. You cannot even taste mussel, the sweet is dominant. Yuck. They took the mussels away, we ordered ceviche. Then the music again gets to nightclub levels. Further we asked for clean plates, the server dropped them off, leaving soiled plates on the table? The ceviche was below average and again sweet. I wouldn't eat it after one taste. We left that pretty much untouched as well. Finally we asked for the manager who was not there. The excuse was that people nudge the volume button walking past?? We felt it was deliberately turned up. The manager on duty ended up comping the check for our experience so for that I give one star. When I hear Bonefish Grill, this experience will come to mind. I cannot dine here again nor will I recommend it. We have a myriad of places to dine and I avoid places with rogue kitchen staff with a sweetooth. read more

Ok, another chain restaurant. Those that might have seen other reviews of mine know that when it comes to chain restaurants what I look for are things that make them a bit different than their counterparts in their category, and service compared to the rest I've experience within their chain. The Bonefish Grill in general and this particular one, located in the "Lehigh Valley Mall" at Whitehall, PA, waitstaff score high. The menu has all sorts of fare with little twists to make them special and some diverse choices beyond the standard for seafood chains. It was lunch time and I went with a standard, fish and chips. First off BIG points for the fish being actual cod. Not the usual cod/halibut replacement of tilapia or another of those ground feeders that is the norm nowadays, but real cod. That's enough of an industry rarity to get them noticed. As to prep, the standard being some form of batter dipping, Bonefish Grill goes with tempura. An unexpected choice for a Great Britain originated menu item but a good one. Very crunchy and flavorful. The fries were fries, nothing special there, but the slaw I had with it; that was very nice. A mixture of traditional coleslaw and broccoli slaw with some very interesting seasoning. I want the recipe. It's plated on traditional brown butcher's paper over a plate, nice touch, and presented well. The service was friendly, helpful and polite. Our server even went so far as to suggest that the asparagus was not the best choice on the menu, that the sautéed spinach, in her estimation, was superior. We thanked her and went with her suggestion. The place was busy with the lunch trade and we were still seen to on the regular to make sure we were happy. The parking is ample. The pricing within the norm for seafood chains (entrees around $15, sides ala cart $3, appetizers around $7-$8). The seating comfortable (I hate how some of these chains have folks sitting on top of each other, but not a problem here), the food is good; with enough choices to make them stand apart from other seafood chains and the service here is good. So that makes the Bonefish Grill in general, and this one at Whitehall in particular, a benefit to the area one should check out for yourself. read more

So this is the second time I have been here. Place is often on a wait so I suggest you get a reservation. However if you are like me and decide where to eat last minute they do have a great section that is first come first serve. There are tables in front of the bar that you can sit at without even talking to the host. You just walk in and sit down. The service here I think is better. They seem to be able to attend to your needs quicker and also seem less formal and less stuck up. Allows for quick service and a comfortable dinner. If you want the romantic look at me I am important then make a reservation for a table. I got an appetizer that isnt on the main menu it is on the happy hour menu. It is called the cure. It is fried in gravy cheese and with shrimp it is delicious. I ordered a filet and was offered two sides but after eating fries I was carbed out. My waitress (Fran) suggested a salad and that was very good. Steak was cooked medium as I requested. Tender piece of meat with plenty of flavor. I had the green beans and I perfer them to be a bit less cooked so they still have crunch to them. I asked for them this way and they came out this way. My meal was very good. To some this place may be a bit pricey but to me I am paying for what I am getting. Steak was so much better than any of the other franchise stores. First of all, my boyfriend and I made a reservation HOURS in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told we needed to wait. After we waited 15+ minutes, we were seated at a table by the emergency exit and the toilets. The food was bland and not at all worth the cost. I've had crab cakes at a diner that were more appetizing. The waitress was rude and inattentive, she literally threw the check at us as we left. Bonefish is just about the only exception to our "policy" of frequenting locally owned and operated establishments. There is enough variety on the menu to satisfy just about everybody, and we've always had great experiences - both food and service-wise. Those complaining about the price point likely do not understand the cost of fresh, wild caught seafood that Bonefish serves. Let's also not forget the cost to employ the excellent staff that takes care of your every need. Go there knowing your bill will be higher than what you'd pay at Red Lobster (ugh) or Long John Silvers (triple ugh), but sit back and enjoy the great food and pampered service in an upscale, inviting environment. And yes, the bathrooms are spotless. read more

When I am in this area I make it a point to have dinner here. They have a full bar for those who enjoy spirits. The seafood is wonderful. They offer steaks, lamb, and pork as well. Service is spot on. I decided to edit my review a drop one star after I had my main course. I had sea bass oscar style with crab fried rice and a house salad. The sea bass was very good. The Oscar style was lacking. They put three stocks of asparagus and sprinkled crab meat and butter over the sea bass. I was expecting traditional Oscar style with the béarnaise sauce. That's what makes it so yummy. The crab fried rice was crunchy and full if egg which seemed much for the small portion that was given. It was topped with crab meat. The house salad was a mix of some mixed greens with just 3 kalmata ( not sure of the spelling)olives and a it more iceberg lettuce than I care for. The desert was very good. Upping my review 1 star to a 3. In the past I had horrible food and decent service. That was 2013. My wife and I have been coming here a bit recently and the food has been much better. I genuinely Ely enjoyed the Kobe burger with egg (but I substitute goat cheese). I also very much enjoy the lobster roll. Issues: it is a complete flip flop now. The service is deplorable. The hostesses make us feel unwelcome and they seem unprofessional. The restaurant keeps changing their policy on whether or not they automatically provide bread at lunch and brunch. Went here last week and it was amazing. It was a Saturday night, and had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table. While we were waiting a server came up to us and took our drink order which was great. After being seated the waitress was very attentive and we had our food within 20 minutes. I got the ahi-tuna appetizer which was phenomenal (if you're into raw-fish). For an entree I had the shrimp with spinach noodles in a spicy cream sauce which was equally as good. Would have had dessert if I wasn't too full. Would highly reccomend this place! read more

We experienced a wonderful dinner here ... a reservation never hurts as it can get busy. They offer a variety of fish and seafood. I ordered the mango sea bass and it was delicious! It was so fresh and cooked to perfection. Each entree comes with your choice 2 sides(unless you order a special then they aren't a fan of substitutes) I added the mashed sweet potatoes which I was a little disappointed that on top they added a scoop of melted butter so I didn't each much of it and the asparagus which was ok. Despite how busy the place was service was good and our waitress was always on top of our needs. I would say clear of the bathrooms as they got pretty messy. read more

So I work nearby Bonefish, and generally stop by after my shift for a drink at the bar, and usually just order an appetizer. The food, I would say, is corporate and predictable, but good.They can be relied upon for a good plate of Oysters, or some Ahi Tuna. These are things that are difficult to mess up. I do have a soft spot for their calamari, it is a lighter presentation than you normally see, and comes with a nice sauce. Bar staff are awesome. I come by sometimes just to shoot the rag with them, or if there is a hockey game playing. I haven't done a sit down meal, but if the wait staff are as competent as the bar staff, and no reason to assume they aren't, I expect good service. Vibe at the bar is decent as well. I usually stop in eightish after running a shift working retail. I want first off a calm space to have a dry martini, write a little bit in my journal, and maybe read a chapter of a book. Usually, though, I also end up striking up a conversation with someone interesting, lots of people end up there passing through the mall, or at least bantering with the barkeep. Overall Bonefish Grill is a very pleasant place, that I sincerely enjoy visiting now and then after a hard days work, for a drink, a bite to eat, and some conversation. I suggest the calamari, it is very good, and when I can afford it the trout is nice as well. If you order a martini they are kind and don't drown the perfectly good liquor in vermouth, which I appreciate. If you sit at the bar, and see someone with a pile of books in front of him and writing in a journal, that is likely me.
