Maybe it's because how I speak and English is my second language. Anyway I was NOT drunk ! Had dinner there last week. The food came out in a timely manner. Brandon the waiter was not friendly, nor did he ever come back to check on us. I ordered a glass of wine which did not taste good. I asked him to take it back. He did so with an attitude. We were 2 people, I asked for water & it took awhile for him to bring it & it was only 1 glass. By far the BEST Bonefish Grill I've ever been to and that says a lot because I've visited others, including the one in Secaucus, which doesn't even come close to measuring up. From the moment we walked in, the experience was amazing from beginning to end. We went for a couples date night and were warmly greeted by the manager, who (sadly for Manalapan!) is moving to the Brunswick location. His hospitality and management style are unmatched. I'll definitely be following him there because it made such a difference in our experience. We kicked off the night with the Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini and WOW, I'm hooked! Absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. For appetizers, we went all out: a variety of oysters, the classic Bang Bang Shrimp, and chicken egg rolls. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For my main course, I had the Crab mushroom Salmon, and it was perfection, cooked just right, flaky, and packed with flavor and very creamy topping. I ended the night with the Pumpkin Brûlée, which had just the right amount of sweetness and was the perfect seasonal touch. A special shoutout goes to our waiter, Mufasa. He was absolutely AMAZING. Incredibly attentive, patient, and took the time to explain each dish thoroughly. You can tell he genuinely enjoys his job and cares about the guests' experience. I was craving fish for my birthday dinner, so we decided to eat at Bonefish. We were seated quickly and in a nice section in the back. The waiter came over to welcome us and take our drink order. The ambiance was very nice. We got bread with seasoned olive oil for dipping. The bread, unfortunately, was not very warm and was a bit tough to break open. Our food, however, was better. The coleslaw was extremely good as were the mashed potatoes, rice, and chicken. The fish was a tad dry and the lobster stuffed shrimp, which was recommended by the waiter, was good, but not as great as he made it sound. It's been a while since I last reviewed this place and figure I would update it. We came here for dinner and were immediately seated after arriving. We ordered the following: Ocean Mixed Grill - which serves two. We chose a Caesar salad and Daughter thought it was good, but it felt like it came from a bag. Hubs thought it was up to par with Trader Joes. The second choice we chose was the Corn Chowder and Lump Crab, Hubs wasn't impressed but Daughter thought it was ok. The grill came along with a platter of wood-grilled Atlantic Salmon topped with Pan-Asian sauce, mahi mahi topped with chimichuuri, shrimp topped with mango salsa and ahi tuna topped with lemon butter and soy mustard glaze. Hubs and daughter thought that the salmon was way overdone and felt it could've been better. Mahi mahi was a little overcooked and had the consistency of steak and we didn't want steak. The mango shrimp was overpowered by the mango salsa to the point that we couldn't taste the shrimp. Lastly, we asked for the ahi tuna to be rare and it wasn't. It was more like medium well. By rare, we mean fish is still swimming and this wasn't. For the two premium sharable sides, they chose: Potatoes au gratin, which daughter liked it a lot because it was cheesy. Hubs didn't care for it and took it home. He ended up throwing it away. Seasonal Risotto- they thought this was pretty ok Meanwhile, I ordered the Pan Asian Butterfish, which is made with savory sweet glaze of soy, ginger, garlic and served with jasmine rice and sautéed spinach. This was the best item on the table of the night. It was delicious. Lesson learned for hubs. Don't order the special. LOL. Service was quick and friendly, though. read more

To say I'm extremely sad and disappointed by today's visit wouldn't begin to describe my experience. My kids and I love bone fish and try to make a frequent trip. We haven't been since April. Upon arriving their menu looked extremely limited with super high prices. I ordered the Ecco domani Pinot Grigio and got a quarter of a glass. I asked if I can get the beef potstickers which I normally love. They were so salty I couldn't eat more than 2. My daughter tried one and spit it out saying it was way too salty. My side Caesar salad was very heavily dressed to the point I had to leave most of it as well. Overall the food was all left on the plate and the waiter didn't even bother to ask if everything was ok with the food when he saw how Much food was leftover. I am so upset that we won't be coming back because I do enjoy the quiet vibe the place has to offer for lunch as well as their previous menu. I don't understand how they charge the same money as before yet their portions and menu changed drastically. We were greeted and seated quickly at a table, because all the booths were taken. I ordered grilled trout, and my wife had the bourbon glazed salmon. We both had mashed potatoes and cole slaw as sides. Both dishes were very flavorful and filling. The bread and dipping oil before the meal is always tasty and a good start to the meal. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, with just the right balance of sweetness and smoky depth. It paired beautifully with the seasonal sides. What really made the evening special, though, was my server, Amy. Bonefish Grill has good food for a chain restaurant. I have to give it 4 stars today as I enjoyed everything I had. They start you with delicious bread and dipping oil to start. For appetizer I had the Bang Bang shrimp which is one Bonefish's top appetizers. It was really tasty! For dinner I had the cedar plank roasted salmon brushed with honey bourbon glaze which was very good! I upgraded to a premium side with my dinner and had the Mac cheese. The Mac and cheese was good, but it could of been more cheesier. For dessert I had the macadamia nut brownie which was delicious! My waitress Isabelle was very sweet and attentive. Made a reservation for 6:30pm, when I arrived at 6:25pm, I was told that I needed to put my name on the waitlist and would need to wait at least 15 minutes because according to the host, they had a lot of walk-ins. Isn't the point of reservations that they hold the table for you so you have priority over walk-ins? I feel like I'm in that episode of Seinfeld, they know how to take a reservation but they don't know how to hold the reservation! Will not be returning to this Bonefish Grill anytime soon. At other Bonefish Grills they always have a table held for us when we make a reservation. Edit: Now that 20 mins have passed, they told us we need to wait another 15-20 mins for a table, and this is WITH a reservation. But the table was not ready even after 40 mins. We've been going to this restaurant for years, and never had a problem, until recently we went there to celebrate my birthday and sat at the bar and ordered two martinis with three olives ! That's the last time we'll visit this location since the bar tender decided to stick his hand in the olive juice and grab the olives for our drinks with his bare hands after touching money and who knows what else! Let me start off saying that i have always loved Bonefish Grill. Yesterday we had just finished moving my son into his 4th floor dorm room at Rugers with tons of stuff and no elevator. So we were exhausted a little bit of a mess and really wanted a descent meal after the day that we just had. I guess maybe because we were in shorts and slightly discheveled the waiter might have made a decision about to put it nicely "or social class" and he was literally beyond horrible!!! Service was poor and very slow he did not really care if the food came out hot or if we needed anything but we dealt with it since we needed to relax anyway. Toward the end of the meal I started to lose my patience. I ordered a cappuchino waited quite a while for it and then he came over, slapped it on the table with a piece of cheesecake for my husband and the check! The capuccino was tepid at best with no spoon, no sugar and without him ever bothering to ask if we needed anything else. He was clearly in a rush to run off to another table and I honestly think he decided we were poor by the way we probably looked, lol. After my husband finished cheesecake I waited a few minutes for him to come back, he never did so I went up to the hostess to pay the check and you never saw anyone arrive so quickly out of thin air! He did not take our tel number, offer us our rewards or do anything of the like! For less money I could have gone to the diner, been treated like a human being and had a delicious meal regardless of if I looked like who the cat dragged in! This was overall a very good dining experience, and that's great being that it was my first time at a Bonefish Grill! Initially the seating process was a bit scattered which almost caused us to leave, but once it was figured out and we sat down, everything was great from there! We started with the "Bang Bang" shrimp and calamari for appetizers. The calamari was more on the Rhode Island style side, with peppers, yet it wasn't finished with an actual pickled pepper juice, so the mark was a little missed there. Other than that, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and paired with a sweeter sauce we honestly could not figure out. The shrimp dish was a clear winner here as it blew us away with its sauce, crisp integrity and slight spice. This dish will have you eating the bed of lettuce under to catch any remaining sauce you can. As far as entrees go, we really tried a little bit of everything. The Cobb salad with chicken was very nice and fresh. The Ahi tuna bowl was good, however the ratio of rice to protein was a bit off, it should offer a little more protein and less rice. My wife had cobia, which was my first time coming across it. To give you an idea of the taste it is a very strong cross between king and swordfish. Very meaty like chicken, and not easily broken down in the cooking process. However, the presentation was very bleh. The dishes that stood out the most was- a BURGER! Suggested by the host, the wagyu burger arrives as your typical lettuce, tomato, fries, but the pattie is done so well with so much flavor. It is very strange to get this at a fish place, but the taste was wildly unexpected and delicious. The salmon with the artichoke dip on top delivers an amazing experience all throughout. Removing another cliche, of never ordering fish and cheese, this has broken the flavor barrier. The salmon itself was very well cooked. Fresh fish lovers beware!! Very disappointing. It has been years since I went to a Bonefish Grille and I wanted to check it out again as I used to enjoy it a lot. Went for lunch today around noon. Nice setting and pleasant enough service, though the server was wearing multiple hats. Only a few other parties were there in a very busy shopping center. Hmmm... As a seafood lover going to a seafood-themed restaurant, I ordered fire-grilled Mahi Mahi with Pan Asian sauce. But The fish they served me tasted nothing like fresh Mahi Mahi! It was dry and salty and tasted like it was prepacked, premarinated, and reheated. The sauce was salty and bitter. For $22, how dare they!?! I felt like I was eating at Applebees, but paying for something much more upscale. Only the broccoli tasted fresh. Even the free bread they brought to the table looked and tasted sad and reheated. My mother ordered the crabcake appetizer with fries and coleslaw for $24. The 2 crabcakes were the smallest I have ever seen, and didn't look plump and fresh. The fries and coleslaw were good. Looks like the days of freshly prepared food and a good value are gone in yet another chain restaurant! Don't waste your time and money on this place! read more

Unfortunately I had made them crazy looking for my non-existing order. While we waited the staff brought us cookies and bread. Amazing customer service bar none. Could not been nicer or more polite. Someone else choosing a restaurant for an occasion is the only reason I've ever been to a few Bonefish Grill locations. This is why I found myself at the Manalapan copy. They are all terrible, and mostly for the same reasons: The fish is not freshly prepared in the strict sense. It is prepackaged, and probably precooked as well. The kitchen needs only to reheat in one way or another. Butter and/or oil, plus sugar appear in abundance in virtually everything, This is a widespread and well-known technique to fool many palates in to thinking they are eating something delicious. And delicious it may be for them, but for the wrong reasons. The service is usually friendly and the push to build the check begins as soon as your waitperson arrives: "Can we start you off with..." (fill in the blank.) But most of the servers are not pros, and it shows in the ways they present plates, and the annoying practice of clearing any plate that appears to be finished. This is probably a management edict, but it's not one you'll see in better restaurants. Dishes and silverware are not always clean, and sometimes not even vaguely clean, especially during an evening crush when the hardware needs to get turned around in a hurry. When your cold drink arrives in a warm, not totally dry glass, that is the reason. Bonefish is a suburban mecca, and offers a vaguely "upscale" experience which is reliably familiar to its local fans. Don't count me as one. It's a chain restaurant. So are Nobu, The Palm, Del Frisco's and Popeye's. Those three serve excellent food at widely different prices. Bonefish Grill is apparently successful because it has a game plan that works. Bang bang shrimp is definitely an appetizer you have to get every time you come here . I came here with a party of 7 with a reservation on Thursday night at 6 PM. The place was packed, every table was full because they were running a 3 course lobster special. If you plan on coming in Thursday make a reservation haha. I'm not sure if our waiter was new or high but he handed us dirty plates to go with our bread (brownie or chocolate cake was smushed between the two plates). He really didn't seem to care and said oh I should get you some new plates....ya think? A bit disappointed but to be honest, based on reading the reviews, I'm not shocked. Where to begin.... We were seated to a nice booth where our waiter came to give us our menu. As my hubby and I reviewed their very limited lunch selection, we noticed "fish for a day." The waiter wasn't 100% sure. It's ok. We peruse at the menu and noticed the liquor on the back if the menu is more extensive than the food menu. Ummmmmm, ok? Onto our food. We ordered Lily's Salmon and Maryland crab cakes. The salmon was definitely not something to rave about. It was thin, a tad dry and small. My order was equally small. For $14.99 you get two crab cakes instead of one for $11.99. It is like two small ice cream scoops. It was delicious though. It's doesn't have filler like most places so with that in mind, I won't complain too much. However, we did have to ask for water refills constantly and when the manager came by to ask how was everything, she literally was walking to the next table already as I told her the Parmesan fries are soggy. When finally registered I wasn't saying, "everything is fine," she came back and suggested "the next time we come back, we should tell the server to request the fries to be crispier." No apologies nor "oh please, let me get you a complimentary bowl of fries that will only really cost us a dollar for the potato and Parmesan but smile as we charge you quite a bit as appetizer. " Nope. Poor manager and customer service skills. Will take my business elsewhere where they know how to be more gracious. One final note, the waiter totally forgot to give us bread. Bonefish Grill has been a staple of suburban New Jersey dining for our family. Decades of enjoyment have been had over the bang bang shrimp, the saucy shrimp, and cheesy whipped potatoes. On our most recent visit, we didn't live our best lives. The bang bang shrimp were approximately 7 shrimp and 4 handfuls of lettuce. The lobster roll was about 1/2 celery. What Harvard MBA is running this cost cutting scheme?? HOWEVER, the drinks were A+ and the butter sauce in the muscles Josephine were notable (however, you're definitely gonna need more bread).
