Many people enjoy the interaction that we engage in at the post office, the gas station, the barber shop, the butcher, the fruit store, etc. Here there seems to be a very definite history of the great staff members moving on, sometimes with little or no notice, and it has impacted the comfort level for me, and for many of the people who also frequented the store. The product has been good, at times excellent, but the overall experience has been greatly diminished by some real nice people who were employed there leaving. I don't feel the same joy supporting a business that seems to have a pattern of upsetting what appears to be excellent employees, and this is by no means a negative statement on the new people who come in to replace the one's who leave. I sure the new ones are very nice too. It all just creates this sense of sadness and negativity about and towards the ownership and overall establishment. I guess in life some of us reach an age, or a point, where what we put in our body has to do with more than the food itself. It connects to the vibe, the humanity factor, the trust, etc. I have stopped going to Local 130 after the last person left, almost without exception. And I am a customer who was there a minimum of once a week for several years.

While…read moreI'm a little disappointed we didn't have time to tour the bars and restaurants of Asbury Park, which I've heard a lot about, I was happy to cap off this summer evening with a quintessentially summer bite; a lobster roll. We were there during peak summer on a Saturday evening, so every spot was packed, including this one. They were quick to take orders which deceived us into thinking we were near the top of the queue to receive our food. Not the case at all. This gave us time to scope out available tables and finally snag one by the time our food actually came out, which took about 40 minutes. I got both a Maine and Connecticut roll so I could compare chilled mayo vs hot butter and I think they each have their strengths. The rolls themselves were nicely buttered and I also enjoyed the lobster chowder I got on the side. No complaints.

I'm not a fan of the atmosphere indoors. It feels like a cafeteria. You order your food at the counter and they deliver it to your table. You never see a server again after that. At least we didn't. Someone should have come by to see if we were satisfied with our food or perhaps needed something to enhance the flavor of our tacos. I might go back again. It was a bit pricey for lunch.

My friend and I were in town for an event and looking for a place to grab an early dinner…read morebeforehand when I came across Moonstruck. The restaurant was located in a multi-floor home on Wesley Lake, just around the corner from the hustle and bustle of Cookman Avenue. The first floor was more of a bar and lounge, and they had a live jazz band on the evening we visited. We checked in with the hostess and were escorted up to the second floor dining room, which was a charming spot that was breezy and comfortable, yet refined. The floor also had its own bar. Our server was on top of things, but was also clearly newer to the place. Regardless, once we got settled, she took our drink orders, which had taken us some time to decide on since the menu was creative and vast. I went with A Sidecar Named Desire, which included Courvoisier VSOP, Cointreau, Chinola passionfruit liqueur, and fresh lemon juice. I adore passion fruit and had always liked sidecars as well, so I figured it was worth a try, and I loved it! It had a good balance of tart sweetness and smokiness. My friend similarly enjoyed her spicy margarita, and we both imbibed while picking on some bread and herb butter. For our meal, we decided to start by sharing the Greek Salad, which was a massive bowl of romaine topped with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, red onions, and Kalamata olives. We left off the feta cheese, but enjoyed the seasoned dressing made of red wine vinegar, honey, salt, oregano, and olive oil. It was a fresh and flavorful mix of vegetables that was a pleasure to eat. The entree options were endless and offered something for everyone. I wound up going with the Chilean Sea Bass, which was served over sweet onions and potatoes in a tomato herb reduction. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked. It was a light and tasty dish that seemed perfect for the Spring season. After our meals we were a bit too full for dessert, but we decided to get a second round of drinks, mainly because I was dying to try their Pistachio Espresso-Tini. Wow, was that drink delicious! It blended Ketel One Vodka, Mozart White Chocolate Liqueur, natural pistachio flavor, and fresh espresso. The coffee notes were not super prevalent, but the creaminess, nuttiness was the real highlight. It was a decadent way to end a delicious meal. After we settled the bill and headed downstairs, I noticed several bowls of after-dinner mints, which were a nice touch. From the relaxed atmosphere to the interesting and expansive menu, Moonstruck was a terrific option for our Asbury dinner experience.

Our server, Michael, provided by far the worst service we've ever received. He appeared to be under the influence of something, as he spent long periods simply standing around making odd faces while our table and several others waited and waited for him to acknowledge us. We were left wondering if anyone was going to take care of us. When my husband politely asked about our meal, Michael became rude instead of apologetic or helpful. The food itself had good flavor, but it arrived cold, like it was not served right away, which was disappointing. To end the meal, we ordered a cappuccino, but it was so poorly made that it tasted like nothing but warm milk. It was completely undrinkable. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've always loved Moonstruck. It's been one of my favorite restaurants because of its excellent food and outstanding service. If this is the level of service the new owners are willing to accept, I worry about the restaurant's future. I truly hope management addresses these issues because Moonstruck has always been top notch!

Didn't have a great experience overall recently and won't be rushing back…read more I checked the website before visiting and found that Sea Crab has happy hour all night on Mondays. However when I arrived and asked the bartender, he said happy hour had ended at 7pm. Disappointing and hope they update their website. I ordered a couple of small plates. The salt & pepper calamari consisted of big, rubbery pieces. It was edible but not great. I also got a spicy crab roll, one of my favorite types of rolls, and it was all rice and very little crab - not my favorite ratio (doubt it's anyone's).

3/5 Stars Came in…read morewith a party of eight before the dinner rush. The interior is lovely, with nice low, dim lighting, and our server greeted us well at first. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there -- and most of the issues seemed to stem from management rather than the staff themselves. Food Availability: On a Friday evening at the Jersey Shore in summer, the restaurant was already out of a surprising number of items and ingredients, which took several main options off the table. It became a running joke among our group for the rest of the night. This falls squarely on whoever handles ordering and inventory -- running out of that much on a peak summer weekend is poor planning. The Food: To their credit, the food itself was solid. The clam and oyster starters were well prepared, though our table was cleared a bit prematurely -- about six clams and oysters were taken away while a few of us had stepped away, without anyone checking if we were finished. The main courses took a while, but I didn't mind since everything came out hot. I had the Fisherman's Feast -- a generous portion that was well worth the $188 price tag. Service: This is where things got rough. Our waitress was visibly overwhelmed, which again points to a staffing issue on management's part. At one point I asked for a fresh Sprite since mine was flat (possibly a CO2 issue), and she said she didn't have time to check and would just comp it instead. Not the ideal response, but I didn't want to make a scene -- I could tell she was slammed, so I let it go and finished my water instead. An 18% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. In hindsight, it felt slightly generous given the experience, but we didn't push back. By the end, even small requests felt like a burden to fulfill, so we wrapped up and headed out. On a lighter note, there's karaoke at 8pm on Fridays, which made for a fun close to the evening once the bill was settled. Bottom line: Good food, great portions, but management needs to staff up and stock up -- the kitchen and floor staff are being set up to fail.

The service was excellent throughout the entire evening, and every cocktail we ordered was fantastic. We started with a few appetizers, which were the perfect way to kick off the meal before diving into our mains. For dinner, we ordered the Duck Rice, Schnitzel, octopus, and mushroom skewer. While everything was delicious, the Duck Rice and Schnitzel were the clear standouts. Both were packed with flavor, and the Schnitzel was an especially generous portion without feeling over the top. It was perfectly cooked and incredibly satisfying. To top off the night, we headed downstairs to their cocktail bar, Laylow, and had an amazing time. The atmosphere was fun, the cocktails were just as impressive as dinner, and it was the perfect way to end the evening. If you're in Asbury Park, I definitely recommend checking out Reyla and making a stop at Laylow afterward. Great food, outstanding service, amazing drinks, and an all-around memorable experience.

We opted to sit at the bar because the vibe looked good. I had a lemondrop martini from the half price menu and it was good but a little too sweet. Then I had the Blood Sugar Sex Magic from the regular menu and it was unique and fun. I then had an espresso martini with dessert. I was feeling good after that. We did three appetizers: hummus, falafel, and the halloumi. The hummus had a nice texture but it could have used a little more lemon and garlic. But it was served with a jumble of fresh herbs on top which was very nice. The falafel was amazing. The texture was perfect: very crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. Not like the dense falafel you get in some places. It was serviced on top of a delicious red pepper sauce. The server told me it was an old family recipe. The halloumi was fantastic. Very generous and covered in a very crispy coating. It sat in a pool of hot honey. They brought the appetizers out one at a time, which was the perfect way to pace it. We were pretty full by the end so we shared one entrée. We had the lamb kofta. It was cooked perfectly and sat atop a pomegranate labneh. It was also delicious. For dessert my husband had the chocolate cake which was only ok. I had the baklava malabi which was sooo delicious. Great meal and excellent service. Paul the bartender was friendly and made good drinks.

From the moment we entered the pub, we were transferred to the United Kingdom with its tavern-like decor. They had a quaint dining room, a bar area with soccer team schwag hanging overhead, a dainty tea room, and a dimly lit space inside what used to be a bank vault. We were seated at a high-top table in the bar, which was fine, as there was a large party with rowdy children in the dining room. Thankfully, the layout allowed us to avoid the majority of their loudness, though their sheer party size clearly held up the kitchen, since it took a while for us to get our food. There was a specific brunch menu with some breakfast-forward items like Loaded French Toast, but we were also given their full-day menu with many more options. I decided to get two smaller dishes to count as my complete meal. First, I had the Chipotle Chicken Chili, which was apparently a recent addition to the menu. I omitted the scoop of sour cream that was supposed to sit on top of the mound of soup, but I did not feel like I was missing anything by doing so. The smoky broth was packed with kidney beans, stewed tomatoes, and chunks of ground chicken. I thought it was delicious, but a bit thin and oily. I also sampled a side of the Sweet and Sour Brussels Sprouts, which were similarly greasy, but crunchy and well-flavored. In fact, they could have used a bit more marinade to really pop. My companion had positive things to say about his burger and fries. We really enjoyed the casual atmosphere, friendly service, and tasty food at the Black Swan, and I would certainly return to try some of their other traditional, European dishes.
