And it was certainly well worth the $75 I paid to refamiliarize myself with the gear, mask clearing etc. I feel a lot more confident for my next dive, since it will be the first time in several years. It took me about 2 hours to do that. On the other hand, I feel the company is a bit lacking in communication skills. I had to block out 7AM-2PM when I really only need 2 hours for a refresher. I paid up front when I booked but no day was scheduled so I was in limbo for over a month wondering if this would work out for a refresher for my trip. The emails said we needed a bunch of gear and we could "buy" them from the company. The emails did not include specific information for refresher course that would have helped me, such as "don't worry about this form but please fill out form x and y. I think what they meant is "rent". The instructor for the refresher course was competent but dour. Finally, the main instructor showed up 40 minutes late after we all turned up at 7AM. So I think they can get the job done but it may be a slightly chaotic experience. Nice people though.

This park was created when the Corps of Engineers dammed up the Des Moines River and created a…read moreflood control system. It's a man-made lake fed by a large river, so you need to be careful boating, especially after hard rains or storms. With the above in mind, it is an awesome place to rent a pontoon boat, go swimming, fishing or camping. The campground is really well maintained and has concrete pads with nice fire pits. Latitude 41 is a nice bar / grill atmosphere, and has almost anything you would want. If you want to take your kids fishing, I suggest driving all the way to the back of the marina on the SW side and fishing off of the docks. You will almost always find croppy and other small lake fish that are easy to catch with minnows or worms with a bobber. There are so many recreation opportunities here - our favorite is biking and the nature center.

The coaches are top-notch and are willing to work with everyone. The facilities are the best in the area. There are numerous classes throughout the week to accommodate most schedules. Everyone at the gym is amazing and friendly and willing to work with new people. If you're interested in jiu-jitsu, I cannot recommend DMJJA enough. ADDITIONAL: I wanted to add that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an excellent form of exercise that also has been shown to be an effective form of self defense. The academy has adult classes every day but Thursday for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and recently increased the number of kids' classes during the week. The gym also has Muay Thai kickboxing and a modest MMA program. Yoga was also recently added to the schedule two to three times per week. The academy caters to athletes of any level, from straight-off-the-couch to expert martial artists. The academy also has a weight lifting / cardio room for members to use during the hours the academy is open. I seriously cannot recommend this gym more. It is amazing and I feel like anyone would enjoy and benefit from classes provided.

The incline and declines are gradual, despite a few small hills. On uphill, this allows you to keep your speed up and also work a bit harder. 3. There is enough space for three bikes across in the event someone passes another biker and miscalculated the oncoming traffic. 4. You have multiple options for bars! 5. You can enjoy nature along the trail if that is your interest. Cons: 1. As of summer 2018, there are numerous bumps/cracks in the asphalt that can honestly cause damage to some bikes, and can really slow your pace. There is evidence they tried to repair them with that black goo, but it's still bad. I wish they would fully repave it. 2. There are a few crossings that require slowing/stopping to watch out for traffic. 3. Near the golf course there are some sharp curves you have to slow down for (trust me). You do occasionally have to deal with golf carts crossing in your path.
