I called several other vets to get her checked out and another vet suggested I might get an earlier appointment. I got an appointment for the next morning. The staff completed the visit before they even discussed payment which showed that their priority was my pet. They did a thorough examination and started her on medication while we were in the office. My dog was very frightened and they were able to calm her down and take the time required for the exam. The Vet and her assistant could not have been more patient and gentle with my dog than they were today. Their fee for the exam and medication was very reasonable and lower than I expected. But again, they saved that part for last. I'm very thankful that I have a good vet to care for my dog in the future.

Really did not like this vets attitude especially when I was turning down some of her "suggestions" of tests to do and she was making me feel horrible about turning them down when I have never felt like this at other vets. When I moved to Queens I thought I would find a vet closer to my home. I tried a couple but didn't like any of them. One of the vets at Brooklyn (who left the city during Covid) told me its worth driving in to see Dr. Meltzer at the Upper East Side location. She was 100% right. They are always SO thorough with my kitties which I absolutely love. I volunteer for a cat rescue so I know the importance of being thorough. I fostered and then adopted a cat that came from the NYC Municipal Shelter last year. Dr. Meltzer took the time to go through the records I had from them and realized he never had his full FVRCP series - just his first shot. (I basically took him out of the shelter and into foster before he could get the 2nd one.) I never would have noticed that myself and she made sure he got a fresh series and is fully vaccinated. Dr. Meltzer also really helped me take care of my cat Salem, who has since passed away. Salem had lymphoma which can be difficult to diagnose, but Dr. Meltzer did the orginal workup and referred her to a specialist where she did great on treatment for a year or so before the cancer got very aggressive and I had to let her go. But at least we had that wonderful year together. And my other two kitties BOTH had dentals with Dr. Schoen. Although one of them is now getting way too fat because her mouth feels so much better, hahaha (That reminds me to book an appointment for a weight loss consult.) The staff here is super nice and helpful. They always remind you of care you need to schedule for your pets. And they always check up on them after the fact to make sure they are doing ok. I always feel like they love my pets as much as I do, and I feel like they are in the best hands. I can be a little bit of a hyperchondriac about my cats. And they are all insured. So like, if one of them vomits or something I'm rushing in like OMG LETS DO AN ULTRASOUND!!! They always get me calmed down, and make sure we do the diagnostics in the correct steps. Like I said...I come in from Queens because I love these guys so much. I will continue bringing my cats here as long as they are around!

I've been going to Oliver's Dog & Cat Clinic for the better part of the last 15+ years; from…read moreshortly after adopting my cat at 2 months of age at the nearby City Animal Care & Control Center to what is now sadly becoming his end of life care. The only breaks were when I moved throughout the boroughs. Oliver's sits in a cozy, casual storefront office with a small reception area in the front, two dedicated exam rooms; (one for cats and one for dogs), and a kennel area in the back. In normal times they ensure that the waiting area is never crowded and you're usually in a room within 5 minutes of arriving. Oliver's stayed open throughout COVID but instituted a policy of handing the pet over at the door and communicating by phone via the visit. There is a very colorful mural out front and subtle pet themed art inside. Dr. Coronato havs always great about discussing treatment options and pricing upfront to avoid sticker shock. With my older pet they have also helped to alleviate some of the stress of assuming a daily treatment regimen, which now includes IV fluids and thyroid medication. They provie the personal touch of always greeting me by name when I arrive, and Dr. Coronato will sometimes come out and chat with clients when things are slow. I would recommend Oliver's to anyone looking for a neighborhood vet.

I explained that my dog's ear was bleeding and he needed to be patched up. I expressed a sense of urgency, but I was calm as it clearly wasn't a life-threatening emergency. The receptionist said that the doctor would not see my dog and referred me to a vet clinic three miles away! (Mind you, it was not busy and there was only one other pet-owner inside) The doctor then approached the front and I asked for at least a band aid. She didn't even glance at my dog, who is bleeding onto the ground, and said condescendingly "we don't use band aids on dogs". Gauze then, I asked - anything to help with the bleeding. She still refused. She expressed zero sympathy or care for a hurt animal standing in front of her. Dead behind the eyes. "Some vet you are", I said sarcastically. That really set her off - she's probably heard it many times before. She told me to screw myself and said she "doesn't want people like me" and slammed the door in my face. You can draw your own conclusions about what she meant by that. A woman walking by saw the interaction and took pity on me. She told me that it was a blessing in disguise because these people (meaning Oliver's Clinic) are crooks who will rip you off and don't care one iota about your pet. She then told me about another clinic, Ideal Pet and Vet, one block away. I thanked her profusely and went to the other clinic, which treated my dog with care - the way a normal clinic should aspire to do. It's truly shocking how horribly my pet and I were treated by Oliver's. They didn't care about me or my hurt pet at all. I have no idea why one would be a veterinarian if one seemingly has no desire to help animals. Terrible place; terrible human.

First, Dr. Coronato is very strict about prescription diets, she will only prescribe Purina and won't authorize other brands due to past issues with her name being used fraudulently. I now go to a vet closer to where I live, and my cat is doing well on a different prescription diet that works better for her. Also, be aware that if you can't make an appointment, you'll need to cancel in advance or you may be charged a fee, which I understand, but it's worth noting. All in all, Dr. Coronato is a great vet who takes excellent care of animals. If you're nearby and okay with a few firm policies, your pet will be in kind and capable hands.

He really spent a lot of time with us during this process - I was a mess and he did not rush me. A few weeks later, I found myself with a new kitten and Dr. Grayson was the first person I called. He was so pleasant to work with that I had no reservations about using him as my vet for the new cat. By the way, my new kitten was (and still is, 6 years later) very ill-tempered but Dr. Grayson was happy to treat him. Fast forward six years later, and amongst several moves, Dr. Grayson is the ONLY VET that I trust. He is kind, professional, extremely knowledgeable and always available. Out of all the various vets that I have tried he is definitely the best. I wish that I still lived in NYC so that my (still terrible and very difficult) cat could be under his care.
