The chicken wings come out hot, crispy, and juicy. It's a great sized wing, much meatier than some other places, without being too over-breaded or too saucy. The sauce coats the wings, but just to right amount to make sure the batter doesn't become soggy. They have a variety of wing sauces, but I definitely enjoy the original flavor, as well as the soy garlic. Good amount of heat mixed in with the sweetness. The Bulgolgi fries were solid as well. Five stars for the best crispiest wings. We had the wings delivered almost half an hour away and they were just as good as I remembered having them in Virginia where it was love at first bite. I was concerned when I felt the soft, soggy boxes, but they absorbed and vented all the steam during the commute to retain their signature crisp. Soy garlic is my favorite followed by spicy. Been wanting to come here since they opened. Their opening was a bit delayed which set us back a bit on the visit as well. They are opened now and easy to find right off Fletcher Ave. They share a parking lot with a few other businesses but there is plenty of parking available. You enter and walk up to the counter to place your order. They'll bring out to your table once it's done. Plenty of seats available inside for dining. Soda fountain is self serve. The place is also clean! I ordered the wings and hubs got the bulgogi bowl. My wings were actually pretty good! They had a nice crisp and the taste was really good. Didn't need a dipping sauce. The chicken is so delicious, so were the fries. The staff is awesome, and the girl at the front counter was a little bitty thing and she was just so sweet, full of great recommendations. But the thing that makes me never want to go back is the smell when you walk in the door. The restaurant smells awful. It smells like garbage or bathroom smells. It's not the first time it has smelled terrible. We actually got our food and took it home so we would not stay in that smell. It would be a shame if we don't go back because of the smell. Bonchon is obviously a franchise but this is the first one I've seen in Tampa so I had to try it out. I got the chicken wings with K BBQ & Spicy for the flavors along with some boneless chicken in their soy garlic & yungnyeon sauces along with some coleslaw and fries. I'd say the food was pretty decent, the wings were crispy, the boneless ones were not but that's to be expected. The coleslaw was mid tier, I'd say not enough flavor really and the fries were okay. Overall the customer service was nice. The lady who took our order and served us was very welcoming and suggesting a good amount of items for us to try so we appreciated her energy. I was disappointed by my Bi Bim Bop, but I'll still give it three stars since this place is known for it's wings. This is more of a fast food type place. I heard from a friend that other Bonchons are more upscale, but that's not the case here. Still even though the chairs look metal, they have soft padding, which is nice. I got the Bi Bim Bop instead of fried chicken and maybe that's where I went wrong. If you look at my picture it is pretty sad looking and still pretty expensive. I definitely wouldn't get it again. My friends got fried chicken and they were huge, I think it is because of the breading. Six is definitely enough for one person and they have a lot of sauce choices. Parking was a breeze. They play music videos inside which is a fun touch. Overall I won't be itching to come back, but I will if someone really wants to. read more

This Korean fried chicken chain we have encountered during our visit to Chicago 10 years ago. Finally make it to Tampa. Before their opening, the Bay Area already has numerous Korean fried chicken restaurants. Their restaurant is at the medium of this group. We got six wing divided into two flavors. I got the garlic soy and spicy Korean flavor. The wing is big but the coating also thick. We also got the Japchae. I think the potion is tiny. Sesame sauce is good but the beef is limited. Many years ago when I still lived in NY is the last time I had went to Bonchons so it has been quite some time. Most recently I found out there is a Bonchons in Tampa, although its been a while since they have been opened. I order the small wings meal, half and half (soy garlic and spicy) and the seasoned fries which you have to pay for the upgrade. As I am writing this review, I just remembered they never gave me the radish. The wings are buge and very crunchy which is great. The spicy isnt really spicy but good but what it is. The fries were good as well but nothing to rave about. I am on the fence if I would come here again, its one of those things that I wouldnt go out of my way for, however if I had it again then I wouldnt complain either. read more

Wow, where do I start? I suppose I'll start by saying that my husband and I typically love Bonchon. It is sad to give a low rating. We used to live up north where it's already popular, so we were excited to see one open in Tampa. A few weeks ago, we wanted to try it but they were out of boneless wings and that's what we had our hearts set on. We called the store to ask when they'd be available again, and it was like I was asking a difficult question. The girl who answered kept having the longest pauses before answering, she'd put us on hold and even give conflicting info. First, she didn't know when they'd be back. Then she told us they were actually available right now. We asked if a manager was there to confirm, and she said no. No manager on duty in a newly opened shop. When she started saying they were indeed available to order, I informed her we could not order them online because all online platforms showed them as unavailable. I asked if I could instead order on the phone. She said no first, then said yes, and then hung up on me halfway through putting in my order. A person can walk into the store and order at the front, so why can't I on the phone especially when you say something is available but not showing as that online? After being hung-up on, I took that as a sign to stop trying. Fast forward a few weeks and we decided to try again. Boneless wings showed available online, so we got 20 of them with garlic soy. We ordered for delivery (via a third-party platform) and were excited! But once we got them, we questioned our memory. These were a bit dry--overcooked--and did not have much sauce on them. I remember them being saucier and more flavorful. So, two stars just because I still like the company overall, but this location is so-far terrible! Today, for the fun of it, I declared a chicken war to see who is better. Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken vs. Dave's Hot Chicken. Winner Bonchon. In a tiny plaza with a tricky entrance, it was clean and bright inside. They have a nice selection of starters and a variety of traditional korean dishes. The chicken choices are boneless, wings, drumsticks and tenders. The staff said more locations are coming soon. One big reason that I have had my eye on this place is that in addition to wings and tenders they also have fried chicken drumsticks. The young lady was friendly and helpful. She described the sauces and I made my choice. I ordered the largest size, 10 pieces for just over $30. I opted for the slaw and was given a small order of the pickled radishes to try. The slaw was good but I liked the fresh crispy radishes even more. The twice cooked and hand brushed drumsticks were just what I hoped for...expectations met. The drumsticks were massive with a gooey yet crunchy exterior that packed a great flavor punch. The interior cooked through and moist. I tried 2 flavors of sauce both wonderful, one with just a bit of heat. Soy Garlic and the Yangnyeom. Sides include Kimchi, Pickled Radish, Cole Slaw and Steamed Rice. I've been stalking this place since I heard we were going to have one in Tampa. I called three times, as I believe they were supposed to open on the 11th, but they opened yesterday at 3. But they opened at 4pm due to the inspection being late. Nevertheless, the owner was nice and let us wait inside before they opened. The workers are so friendly, they have great customer service, and the food is fresh and hot like I like it. I just wish that they were a sit down restaurant like a few locations in New York or in Orlando. Tbh it's a little underwhelming. Heard great things about it in other locations. We ordered bibimbap but it doesn't have gochujang which is odd. The chicken is crispy and thick, which I appreciate. But flavor is average. We love the wasabi cucumber sauce (you'll be surprised how well fried chicken goes with wasabi). Chicken is supposed to come with coleslaw or pickled radish. We got coleslaw and they forgot to bring it out and we didnt realized until after we finished eating so that sucks. We told them about it but no point in taking home after finish eating. The service is alright, employee seems like they dont care much and rather be somewhere else (its fine though). Located in a small plaza, which decent parking spaces. I'm giving another review on Bon chon since I've traveled there on many trips since I did my first review. I think not only Bon chon, but other restaurants as well should be very clear when a customer is placing an order according to what they see. If the menu price says one price, your bill shouldn't look like you ordered more than what you seen on the menu. I ordered the wings again and always have just ordered without any sauces. When a person asks if you would like something with your order, make it clear there's an extra charge instead of the customer looking curious. If you wanna keep customers coming, gotta give the customers their money worth. And that's not taking away from your profits for the day. Some of us know what a restaurant food costs are so let's keep the customers happy and have a repeated customer. Not the best I've had and not the worst. The wings were good with Koran bbq sauce. Crispy just like other reviews said. Had the pork belly bao buns. Would have been better if the pork belly had been cooked a bit more. Bulgogi was plentiful amount for the price but really didn't have much flavor. We were hungry so no photos- sorry. So I have never actually stepped foot in this location but I always UberEats my meal once a week (I put myself on a limit to only use UberEats 1x a week so it's THAT good). I said that to say, my food is ALWAYS fresh! I always order the spicy wings and two sides of white rice. The wings are always crispy, flavorful, and spicy (most restaurants advertise "spicy" but they're not). The white rice is always soft and fluffy. Even when I place the rice in the refrigerator overnight, when I warm it up, it's still soft! I usually switch between the cole slaw or pickled radish for my free side. This was my first experience at a Bonchon, and I would not go back. The food was actually good, but the service was the worst I have personally experienced. The bag handed to me the first time had half the order my group ordered, and after calling to ask about this, I drove back to collect the other items. They told us over the phone that they would check our order in store again and make sure everything was correct. After picking up the second time and driving back, we realized that 2/3 of our chicken was also missing. When we called back, the woman who answered the phone (she had braces, I didn't catch her name), left us on hold for half an hour. We hung up and called back as their hold music stopped playing, and she proceeded to raise her voice, cut us off multiple times, and then blame us for not having our entire order. We asked for a manager/owner number to resolve this, and then got hung up on. After doing so and returning home, the order was still missing the boneless wings so we called back to ask for a refund. The woman put us on hold for 30 minutes, then when we called back she said we were on hold because she's busy bagging other orders and that it's our fault our chicken is missing because we didn't check the bag before taking the food. She took zero ownership (after telling us the first time that she was the one who bagged the order incorrectly). She proceeded to cut us off any time we spoke, and told us that it's not their fault we were missing chicken (or 3 sides and sauces the first time we came home with the order).
