That's absolutely pathetic and unacceptable for a business to do. I knew when it happened to me it wasn't an isolated incident. They went as far as following a minor to his car to demand a bigger tip. Everyone here is unprofessional, and it starts from the owner. Read the google reviews and you will see the owner being rude to some, while giving the same tired response to everyone who left a review about them demanding more tips. The response was "we are sorry, customers typically tip 15-20% but it is ultimately up to them. We will do what we can to fix this". If it was up to the customers, then multiple customers wouldn't be saying the exact same thing about being harassed for tips. Clearly nothing is being done to fix it. Disrespectful and money hungry people that work there. They don't give magical massages to do all of that. Go to the other spa right down the street.

Martin is a fantastic massage therapist - no matter what aches or pains you walk in with, you'll leave feeling like a new person. His comprehensive massage is a pressure points, adjustment and massage type of therapy. You'll really feel like a million bucks when you leave! Unfortunately, the other massage therapists are not great. High turnover as well: they only stick around for a few months' time and then leave, not sure why. I haven't had a facial, so can't speak about those services. The spa's rooms are very close together and even though they play spa music, you can usually hear what's going on in the next room. If you have a massage in one of the front rooms, you'll also hear the people waiting in the reception area. Limited parking in Maplewood, so leave yourself time to find a spot.

The therapist didn't speak any English so with this language barrier, she did whatever she wanted and I just had to make the best of it. The massage tables were uncomfortable and the sheets and towels were old rough on my bare skin. The amount advertised for the 90 min or 120 min treatment is totally different from what you will be charged on your way out. I find it distasteful and rude to demand a tip greater than 18%. At one point I felt uneasy and disrespected after paying for the treatment in full and leaving a tip greater than 18%. I wasn't aware that it was mandatory to have to pay an additional amount on top of the fee and Tip that was already paid. I wasn't sure I was allowed to leave if I did not leave atleast 30% tip to satisfy the cashiers demand. Not sure if this is a regular practice, however I won't subject myself to this embarrassment and uneasy feeling of disrespect. 06-04-2026 - @approx. 1pm est I received a call from someone named Sophia, saying they are "the manager" . The first red flag was I was text thru an automated system from the business then I was called from someone calling from a Pakistan phone number +92 99 239080. Conversation started pleasant and immediately went left once I began to explain my issue with the service & treatment I received while patronizing this establishment. It almost seemed like a rehearsed script used for all complaints and issues. First I was told that "maybe there was a language barrier , that was misunderstood. 2nd she immediately informed me that she saw my review and began contesting "my experience at this spa". 3rd she then told me that she "reviewed camera footage" , and this is what didn't sit well with me. This wasn't a call to resolve or fix a situation with a customer, this was more confrontational. She also said I was free to leave at anytime due to the fact that I stated , I wasn't sure if I would be allowed to leave without increasing the tip. I wasn't sure also accused of leaving a false review of my experience and at that point I asked if it was possible to get an email contact for the owner. The last thing this "manager" said before I ended the call was "this is what I mean, I am trying to work with you" as if she was doing me a favor. No thank you. Have a pleasant day.

The waiting room was shared with different offices, so I could hear from the next door that this happens quite often. I waited there for half an hour, but nobody showed up and I was very upset. So, I called this spa later that afternoon. A lady answered the phone but didn't apologize for what happened. The worse thing was that she just told me to get a refund. Surprisingly enough, that was not the end of the story. After I found out that I cannot get a refund, I called the spa again to ask if there is any way that I can get a refund or use my coupon. But, she didn't even bother listening to what I said, just yelled at me and hung up the phone! I NEVER had this experience before!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, nobody was this rude in my life. I still cannot believe what happened. I am not sure if she had a bad day, but you cannot treat other people this way. Now I wasted my money just to get yelled at by a total stranger. Unbelievable.

If you're looking for a no frills "spa", but a great massage, you'll like this place…read more For what you pay, this place is great. But if you're expecting a quiet and relaxing environment like you're at a traditional spa or 5-star hotel, this is not the place for you. If you're okay with noise in the background such as doors opening and closing, people talking in the hallway, timers going off, etc then you won't mind this place. There are separate rooms, but the walls in between don't go to the ceiling, so you can hear everything going on in the other rooms as well as at the front. I could hear when someone walked in the front door as well as their entire conversation with the front desk staff. They play nice spa music, but it doesn't drown out all of the background noise. All of that aside, I booked with Cindy since she was mentioned in a couple of Google reviews. The massage itself was great, and I'd recommend her if you try this place out. She didn't ask about pressure, but I'd say she did medium / deep tissue. I'm sure if you want a lighter pressure, you could ask, but I didn't mind. Also, they don't pressure you to tip a certain amount. I tipped 20% because Cindy was great, but I read at some neighboring spas they pressure you to tip a certain amount, which I found to be strange. However, here you can tip what you feel is right. Overall, the staff was very nice, the place is clean & the massage is great. There's nothing luxurious about this place, but if all you care about is a great massage and great service, you'll like Village Spa.

At the end of our conversation (after so much repeating and misunderstanding) she confirmed that everything was all set. I made plans around this appointment, so that my husband could have a fun-filled day on this special occasion. Two hours later, a man called and asked if I made an appointment and who I spoke to. The receptionist never mentioned her name, as she was barely capable of making an appointment for me. The man said people have been booking for times that are not available and he would have to get back to me. Two hours later he calls and says that there are NO times available that day. When I ask about the day before (which is a weekday), he claims nothing is available that day either. Since I am trying to book this over two weeks BEFORE the appointment and he was so quick to say "no nothing is available", I am assuming it's just this one guy working at this place. I would rather take my business to a more professional environment and I am doing just that!
