I walked in with almost waist length hair and asked for 3 inches off, left with hair barely below the shoulder. Hairstylist pointed to a spot on my arm and decided to cut half a foot above that. Worst haircut I've ever received, it looks poofy and ugly and terrible and I won't get that length back for years. :( Worse, they still charged me $25 for the haircut I obviously hated and forced me to tip. I understand paying for the labor isn't optional even if you're dissatisfied, but a non-optional tip is a completely immoral practice. read more

I had my hair and makeup done here for my cousin's wedding and Naomi & Vicki did an excellent job! I first had my makeup done with Vicki and was very pleased. I had her use shades of purple on my eyes to complement my maid of honor dress and she ended up making my eyes look dramatic but not overly so. And my makeup looked great in pictures! Naomi and another stylist starting off tending to my cousin's and another bridesmaid's hair. But as other clients started to trickle in, Naomi ended up being the one to do most of our updos. Updos are her specialty and it was very obvious! I showed her a picture of what I wanted when it was my turn and I was very happy with the end result, based on how thick my hair is and how well it held up throughout the day (through the wedding, all the moving around, setting up for the reception, taking pictures, the hot and humid weather, and dancing all night long - from about 11AM until 2-3AM.) So, I needed a haircut badly. I've heard good things about this place, but had never been here before, and after being in a pinch when I found out my other salon closed, I called here and begged for an appointment. For starters, they have a yelp check in deal for 10% off any service over $22. That was enough to get me in the door, on top of the fact that they were able to squeeze me in on a Saturday afternoon at the last minute. I went with a deep conditioning treatment, a wash and a cut. I was really pleased with how my hair came out, and would gladly return in the future. After discount, it was a grand total of $44. They also offer mani's and Pedi's here, but I wasn't looking for one today, just my hair. The salon is clean, the staff is super friendly and I was in and out in no time. Prices are pretty typical for a salon, but not to high priced. Vicki was the gal who cut my hair, and she was super cool and did an awesome job. I had just got my hair done yesterday at my normal place which I had been going to for years, and I always love the way she does it. However, this was the first time she had colored my hair....and it came out blonde! When it was all said and done, it didn't come out horrible...but I was less then pleased. So today I go to the salon down the street asking if they can fix the mess that was created, and to my surprise my new highlights turned out beautiful! This review is specifically for the gem of a woman who takes wonderful care of my tresses at Salon 35, Meagan! Meagan and I became friends almost 5 years ago through a mutual friend, who was constantly telling me that I needed to go to her to get my hair done! I had only lived in the state for about a year and hadn't found my person yet. And I am VERY picky, and I'm a blonde...two things that can make finding a stylist a little tougher. I decided to go see her, and the rest is history. We've become even closer friends through the years, and I cannot imagine having anyone else even touch my hair. I work in a retail job, and I'm not kidding when I say that I get multiple compliments on my hair color every week. She uses the products necessary to take my blonde to new heights, while also keeping it healthy and strong. She is meticulous, takes her time with you, listens to what you want, and doesn't try to pressure you to try something new the way some stylists do. (I'm a creature of habit, and she's okay with that!) She is an expert at foils--I have literally combed through my hair after appointments and cannot find a single mistake or spot where it needs fixed. It's PERFECT every time. She is truly an artist when it comes to placement, etc. She's very creative herself, and would totally be the person to help you take a risk in the color dept too! I'm convinced that she can handle it all. I can sit in her chair without anxiety, knowing that I'll absolutely LOVE my hair when she's done with it. All of this would be enough to keep me coming back, but on top of ALL of that she is a truly wonderful and kind person. It's always a JOY to see her smiling face, and she greets me with a warm hug every time (and I know it's not just because we're friends). She is so sweet and the kind of person you just genuinely want to be around. She's also always doing training and learning more so that she can offer the best to her clients. She recently began doing lash extensions, and she does a fantastic job! I had them for my wedding and felt like such a gorgeous princess of a bride. Haha! I drive from Novi to see her every six weeks or so, and I would drive farther if I had to. If she ever moves far away, she's gonna have to take me with her because I don't know what my hair would look like without her. :) Meagan, thank you for always making my day AND making me feel beautiful. I am growing out a pixie cut and very specifically told my stylist that I didn't want her to take any length off the top. She promptly cut those hairs. I was pretty disappointed. The salon atmosphere was nice, and the price wasn't bad. Honestly, the haircut was ok, but I had to get another one only about 4 weeks later because it was already looking like a mullet again because she cut the top hairs, too. read more

They changed my stylist at the last second, which was okay since i had not had a preference, but still not pleasant. I told them many times I was in to have my hair cut to be donated, so we cut it into pony tails. The stylist was really nice and knowledgeable, and my hair looked really nice after. Why only 3 stars? Because what they failed to tell me about til after the hair cut was that there was a $10 upcharge for people with long, thick hair! If you do your math you'll find that this is roughly a 30% mark up on the $35 I thought it was. I also had to up the tip to match 15%. Besides...whoever heard of an additional charge for long/thick hair?! Normally when you donate your hair (this isn't my first rodeo), the salon gives you a discount or cuts your hair for free. While I wasn't necessarily expecting a free hair cut, I wasn't expecting it to cost nearly that much. They also failed to apply the student discount. I am an OU student and their website advertises a 10% discount to OU students. I remembered to mention that but it was never applied. It was a good hair cut and an enjoyable experience. However, I've had similar experiences for less money in the area. read more

I've heard great things about this place so I decided to try it out. All I can wanted was a cut for shorter hair. But whoever cut my hair I don't think listened to me at all. My hair was about my lower back and I told her I wanted it cut below my shoulders right around my chest area. My hair is now very short way above my shoulders. I told her very little layers at the end, and now my hair is all different lengths. I specifically told her not to do the thing where it's shorter in the back and longer, in the front and that's exactly what she did. Will not be going back. read more

First time here, I went in to get highlights fixed and they're beautiful. Best decision to come here before the holidays.

My first time visiting this salon. I went in for my first ombré, brown roots to light brown ends. I usually dye my hair twice a year and always go dark brown, so this was new to me. The girl that colored my hair had a vacation coming up in one or two days and had a lot on her mind. When she was done, there was a very distinct line between the two shades. No gradual change from brown to light brown like an ombré is supposed to be. Very disappointed. I gave her the benefit of the doubt considering that her attention was obviously divided with the upcoming vacation. I went back to her a week later. She said she could fix it. This time I ended up with bleach blonde ends and brown roots, again with the very distinct line between the colors. The ends were now brittle and hair was breaking off every time I touched it. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! My hair has always been soft and silky. Now it's dry and damaged. I ended up going somewhere else and getting a lot of my hair chopped off. Luckily, my new stylist new what she was doing and was able to fix it. I will never go back here! In response to management, This is definitely the correct salon. This occurred about 4 years ago. I normally don't complain and I was going to let it go, but I saw your business when I signed on to Yelp, searching for a salon nearby, and I saw the girl that ruined my hair on your pictures. So I decided to write this. She also charged me to "fix" the initial coloring and ended up damaging it and I had to pay someone else to actually fix it. Had gone into the salon for a consultation and was told i could take my dirty blonde to grey. I had made an appointment for two weeks after that first appointment for 2pm. I arrived on time. The staff was nice if your looking for a good hair cut i would recomend however i arrived at the salon at 2in the afternoon and didnt leave until 7:30 pm that night. Yes i hage a lot of hair should it had taken that long no. I the main part that i am upset about is the fact that i went in wanting a icy grey and left with a bright blonde. The staff does not seem to be on the same page as me and keeps thunking I want a icy blonde. I sat in that salon for over 5 hours and walked out with no grey just a super light blonde. I call the salon the next day and all they could do for the situation was tell me to come in and they will tone it.... I know that wont make it greyish like i want but instead brighter. I also do not have time to go back in where i have a very busy schedule. I had asked for a refund of some of my money and the owner said "i can't do anymore than 30 because i dont think it is fair for her to work for free" however i didnt ask for all it back only 50% that would be 100 dollars back in my account and they got to keep a 100 of the 200 i paid. My hair dresser was nice and friendly but i beleive the products they used didnt work efficiently and or well enough. A hairdresser ahould always listen to what their client wants and then do their best to get them what they want. I recently moved here from another state, sadly leaving my hair stylist of 10 years behind. As I wear my hair short it's all about the cut. My daughter suggested Yelp as a good source where I found Salon 35 and it had 4 1/2 stars so I anxiously gave them a call. Receptionist was warm, friendly and understood my apprehension. My stylist's name is Olivia. She listened to me while running her fingers through my hair then did it her way, and it is one of the best cuts I've ever had. It's perfect, better than ever. ILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN! I went and got my haircut there for the first time yesterday. I have really thick long hair. When I have it in a ponytail, the tail is a good 8 inches. I asked for a trim and to have my layers trimmed a little shorter. I thought this would be a pretty basic haircut however, the stylist cut off a good 4 inches and made my layers so short it looks like I have a bowl cut on the top of my head. And underneath that bowl cut is one long layer. So upsetting i'll be putting my hair up (I can barely put it in a ponytail now) for the next 6 months. read more
