This place is so bad I had to log back into my Yelp from 2019 to warn everyone. The view and sunset is one of the best but the food is dead last. Could not recognize at least two of the items on the $38 Filet dish. We all ate these two items and none of us could recognize what was being served. I would compare this to rest home quality type preperation and food. People were nice but food was just awful. read more

Okay so the place is a bit cheesy and the crowd is older but so what?!?!?! The views are beautiful and they have a live piano!!! I attended a birthday brunch here with a large group and overall everyone seemed to like their food and have a good time. Someone in our party made reservations well in advance and requested a large table for the large party and somehow we ended split into 3 or 4 tables, and no they were not adjacent to one another. In fact some in our party had no choice but to give their backs to the birthday girl. This was odd but since I was just a guest I did not stress it, the birthday girls husband did make a comment about it since he requested a large table for the whole group. Our servers were very friendly and service was prompt. I was happy they were able to make an aperol spritz as this is my go to brunch drink! Mimosas are so passé! Teehee. I decided to get the Beef Tenderloin and mushroom hash with two fried eggs with béarnaise. I think I lucked out and got the yummiest thing on the menu! I truly enjoyed this dish! The eggs were kind of like Scottish eggs! If I ever find myself at this establishment again this is what I am ordering. Honey got a fish sandwich and found it a bit dry, he did order some sauce which helped remedy the issue. All in all it a nice place. The view is amazing (just look at my pics below)!!! Parking was not hard to find the day we were there but I can see this being a problem on busier days. Downtown Dunedin is pretty popular during the summer, and rightfully so as the small town has so much charm! The restaurant does offer valet and on our way out we noticed they also have outside seating and a bar that looks pretty cool to hang out at. read more

Review is just for the outdoor bar (too many other great food places in Dunedin). Spent a couple hours (+/- a couple hours ) having some good cocktails waiting for sunset. Cocktails were good n' plenty (and not the first stop$ so no drink pics..... Lots of martini options, the key lime pie rimmed with graham cracker crust martini and the watermelon cucumber cocktail were my favorites. But the orange cream sickle Martini the pomegranate martini, the black cherry and and their riff on tequila sunrise are all good. Fun environment, at the bar or at covered table off to the side. No food service later on sat but the outdoor seating section is right on the water. the pier is right over the fence and pics don't lie. Great place to relax before the 2nd round of whatever you do in Dunedin..... read more

Food was delish, service was awesome and the ambiance is perfect!!! Definitely going back

Whether you're sitting inside or outside, you will have a gorgeous view, especially during the sunset hours. The food is good, with a variety of items on the menu with a special menu every month (September was Lobster Fest and October was Octoberfest). read more

The food here is hands down the worst! My husband and brother in law got extremely I'll after sharing a dish here last year and despite the wonderful view they have little to offer other than that-over priced and food quality is some of the lowest in the area, I would much rather dine at the fish shack in the marina parking lot! read more

Came here for the first time with my boyfriend. We made a reservation at 7:30, came in 20mins early just to check in. They sat us in a reasonable time. Our table was probably the best table In house. It was in the corner with a beautiful view of the water. The menu is pretty limited. We ordered Ahi tuna to start off as an appetizer....it was okay. Definitely frozen tuna. What was weird was when I saw the server assistant bring out the food, they just leave it on the tray stand till the server comes over to place it on the table. Our appetizer and salads were just left out on the tray for good 3 minutes till our server came out to place it on the table. When we were eating our entree's, we over heard a table next to us ask a server for bread and butter...I looked around and saw other tables received bread and butter as well. We thought we would automatically get bread and butter. Didn't know we had to ask for them. We ordered creme brulee for dessert and it was definitely over cooked. The only thing I enjoyed was my entree and the view. read more

As usual, amazing spot for sunset! But, last time the drinks were watery, seafood plate was tiny. This time, we got raw oyster, and they were sandy and full of shells. I didn't enjoy it. The entrees came at least 30mins wait with other tables orders? My friend's grilled salmon was cooked beautifully. My Sea Scallops looked very pretty, but they were quite salty. read more

Great atmosphere and location for a restaurant. But the food was ok and is way overpriced for the quality. Had a $15 hamburger that was completely average. My wife had the grouper sandwich and the fish was burried inside a big bun. Food: 2.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 read more

Nice views but otherwise nothing special about this place. Requested a special made drink, and they promised it but couldn't deliver. Drinks all around were very watered down. Found the food to be just mediocre. Wouldn't really recommend, except for the view. Also, regarding facilities- men's bathroom doesn't have a baby changing table, and the women's is angled so you can't lay an infant on it properly. read more

This place was highly recommended to us by a local, so glad we decided to indulge! What attracted us most was the waterfront dining. We had a great view and the food was great!! Had a very lovely meal while watching the sunset on the water. A virgin pina colada (I'm pregnant) and a delicious seafood bouillabaisse. We walked up on a Friday night without a reservation and were seated almost immediately. Atmosphere is lovely and service was great. We sat a while to watch the sun go down. Ordered a key lime pie to go which could have done without the Hershey's chocolate syrup underneath it. But all in all, would recommend to others and would come back. read more

What a wonderful surprise this place was! We needed a place to have lunch after biking part of the Pinellas trail nearby and I found this restaurant by looking on a map for a waterfront venue. Who knew we'd find the perfect combination of French bistro and FL waterfront fare! We sat outside with a beautiful view (they have heaters which were unnecessary today) and enjoyed the most delicious stone crab claws, a wonderful Greek salad, an excellent French onion soup and shrimp cocktail. I also had an orange creamsicle cocktail. I was surprised that everything was so delicious and our server was great too. That and the view-- it pretty much made my day. read more

Why oh why can't their food be awesome? I love this location and I love their servers. But the food is always just mediocre. The number one thing they have going for them is the sunset, which is spectacular. Sadly it is completely overpriced and we are the first to pay for a good meal. Their special tonight was the grouper which was completely over cooked and chewy. Marina was an amazing server! I would request her every time!! read more

We went for lunch with a big group. They offered a very limited menu and was very expensive. It was $40 for lunch and 14 for a glass of wine. The soup was unseasoned. Not very good. Very expensive for lunch. Will not go back. Very disappointed read more

Great selection, but some of the offerings seem like they are trying too hard. For example; calamari, looked more like small onion rings and the accompanying sauce did not compliment it at all, escargot, cooked well, good texture, but addition of curry to the buttery juices ruined it for us, grouper sandwich was tasty, but overshadowed by the big bun, and piled-on tomato, plus the onion that I asked the server to hold. Mock blueberry cocktail, advertised in the menu as a favorite, very bland despite several sliced blueberries in the glass. MIO blueberry drink drops much more satisfying at a fraction of the cost. Salmon appetizer very well done, but left all of us (5) yearning for more substantial portions of the potato pancake base. Salads very tasty and huge. Wish the menu or server would have said, "easily shared by two people." Best report goes to Rachel, our server, knowledgeable, friendly, and had us chanting "49!" every time she mentioned Chef Carl. Seating at the window overlooking the water was great and mouthwash in the restrooms a pleasant surprise. $300.00+ for a five person late lunch should have been more memorable and resulting in a return visit. read more

WOW! My 600th Yelp Review is already here!!! My debut on Yelp almost a year ago actually has ties to the Sunshine State ;-). A Yelper from Florida invited me to join Yelp since I love to eat, which I sure the "flip" do, essentially planting a seed in NH. Yelp became very addicting and the rest is history. I've Yelped a bunch of old and new places back near my home in Southern NH and other places far in between including here in Florida! Okay so while I'm almost finished with my tour of Florida, why not Yelp about one of the better restaurants that I had dinner at in the Tampa Bay area. I've already consumed so much junk food and caffeine on my Florida trip; I've decided have a nice meal for once. THE REVIEW: Located on the Dunedin Marina, Bon Appetit offers great casual upscale dining and outstanding waterfront views of Clearwater Harbor, St. Joseph's Sound, and the Islands. This AAA 3 Diamond restaurant was voted "Tampa Bay's Best Waterfront Restaurant" by Tampa Bay Magazine. Bon Appetit offers an inside dining room with white linen covered table seating & place settings with a bar (with TV), and a grand piano with live entertainment by pianist Kathy Roberts on Wednesday-Sunday evenings & Sunday brunch. There are also function rooms for receptions, weddings, banquets, meetings, and dinner parties. There's also casual "al fresco" dining out on the covered Terrace (Marina) Cafe (weather permitting). The Inside Menu offers creative American bistro cuisine including tapas, lite bites, salads, soups, sandwiches, dinner entrees, and desserts at moderate prices. The Terrace Cafe Menu offers soups, salads, and sandwiches, but the Inside Menu is also available on the Terrace. Full wine list (from the on-site wine cellar) is available. Three Course Specials are offered daily before 6 PM for only $18.95 (add $6 after 6 PM). On Sundays, a Brunch Menu is served from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and the Three Course Specials from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Check out the menu and prices http://www.bonappetitrestaurant.com/ I had a very nice dinner here on a warm and brisk January evening and enjoyed the beautiful sunset over Clearwater Harbor and the Islands. I decided on the Three Course Special, which includes soup or salad, dinner entree, and dessert, and was a pretty good deal! The cup of Chili Bean Soup was tasty with beans, thinly sliced beef in a spicy tomato broth. A dedicated bread server came out to my table and served hot crusty rolls and butter onto my plate. For the main course, the Gulf Shrimp were fresh and sauteed with a mixture of artichokes and fresh mushrooms with a good balance of spices and served with rice & fresh crispy green beans, a good choice! For dessert, I chose the Viennese Raspberry Pudding, which was cool and very refreshing, fruit puree texture, and not too sweet. Overall, the three course meal was very good and reasonably priced. The service was friendly and attentive on this visit with timely delivery of food and drinks. I would definitely recommend Bon Appetit for a relaxing outdoor lunch/dinner on a warm day or evening or for a nice romantic dinner for two. Bon Appetit, the perfect place right on the Gulf Coast of Florida to Yelp for my 600th Review! Enjoy the meal, waterfront views, and beautiful sunset---cheers!!! UGH!!! C'mon Bon Apetit, get it together! We tried 2 years ago on our Anniversary and it was a bust. But its always recommended on facebook when someone asks for a fine dining restaurant so we decided to try again, for our Anniversary last night. We enjoy the outside bar and go often. The bartenders are always friendly and hard working. Inside is a completely different situation. We were sat with a view, YAY, going good so far! I dont remember our servers name, but he was friendly, talked about a few dishes and gave us an iPad to look through and said he'd be back with bread. Okay...this is going well! My husbands said came out, and still no bread. Im hungry....wish I had bread as I watch my husband eat his salad. After the server passed us a few times I reached out and asked if I could please have bread, and a glass of wine. The wine comes....still no bread. I figured my bread would come with my meal, at this point, haha. I can get over the bread delay, not worth getting upset over. It was really just a piece of the entire upset. Anyway, around the corner he finally came with hot bread, and as suspected, a few seconds later, our meal. ***sigh*** my plate was disappointing. The scallops looked delicious but I couldnt really make sense of the risotto, just looked like blob to take up space on my plate. On top of my risotto sat 5 tiny pieces of butchered and charcoaled steak. Dont judge...maybe its delicious??????? I eat a scallop, ok this is good, scallops are always good. I try one of my tiny bits of charcoaled steak (I asked for medium rare but these were so small that temp would be impossible to achieve!)....chewy charcoaled BLAH. No way was that pilot mignon, and if it was, the Chef did it a HUGE disservice, while insulting me at the same time. Yes, insulted! Insulting in that he didnt care enough about my enjoying a good meal. He didnt care that I was paying for a pricey plate at a beautiful restaurant and DESERVED a decent meal. He didnt care that we could chosen any of hundreds of restaurants in the area but we chose his restaurant for our celebratory meal. he should've cared. My husband begrudgingly ate his mediocre meal because he's more tolerant than I. I just got up and quietly told the manager I was unhappy and please take it from the bill, and that I didnt want a scene. I just wanted to quietly pay the bill for my husbands food and drinks, and leave. Thankfully he obliged. We left, went down the street and just got a slice of pizza. I really wanted to love you, Bon Apetit. You'll still get my money at the outside bar, though. read more

Enjoyed a quick drink at Bon Appetit on a week night before they closed early for Covid. Employees seem to be wearing their mask but not gloves. Was disappointed to see how the bartender closed down the bar. Watched him pull the rail mats and then took a dirty rag and dragged the rail water right over the opened clean ice bin. What are you doing?! We left immediately and won't be back. read more

I want to love this place for the view alone...but it's a restaurant so I have to base my review on food. The view is referenced in almost every single review and that's because it really is breathtaking. I've been for brunch and a sunset dinner and was awed by the panoramic views both times of day. However...the menu is very underwhelming. There weren't many choices that made me think "mmm I must try that!" In fact it was quite the opposite for both meals where I was scouring the menu for something that I might actually enjoy. Now I will add the disclaimer that I am not much of a seafood person and this place is on the water and obviously geared toward those types of dishes. In fact, the dinner menu had probably less than 5 options for someone who doesn't like seafood...even the pasta option contained lobster which was disappointing. Breakfast I had a Belgian waffle which was decorated beautifully with whipped cream and strawberries but the taste was merely average. Dinner I settled on a burger. Yes, a burger from a seafood place. It was cooked perfectly and the fries that accompanied it were crispy and flavorful. I really would have liked a chicken option or red meat other than a filet from the surf and turf. I realize this is a fancier establishment but it somewhat annoyed me that I had to be served a single serving of bread with a lump of butter. I'd much rather have a basket of bread put on the table but again this is just my personal preference. Saturday evening they had a pianist playing which was a nice added touch for ambiance. This would probably be a great place for a first date or tourists who want to soak in Florida at its finest but I'd choose The Rusty Pelican any day for a view that's just as great and a menu that isn't so limited. read more

My wife and have coming to Bon Appetit for drink and a possible snack since before there was the bar area. It became more of a favorite when the bar area was built. It was always cool when you sat at the bar area. Yesterday we found the bar area oppressively hot and uncomfortable. The fans previously in place around the bar area have been replaced with decorative ceiling fans that do not direct airflow to the customers in the bar area. I was so hot and uncomfortable my wife and I had to leave. We will not be back with the fans in place not serving any purpose read more

This place is one of my "tried and true" consistent places to go for the view and food. It's on beautiful Gulf of Mexico in a quiet area of Dunedin and has a soothing "I'm on vacation for an hour" feeling. Lobster roll, the hamburger (yes, seriously the burger) soups, fish and salad selection are EXCEPTIONAL (fresh and beautifully presented) fries and fresh fruit was de-LISH! ....as is all of the drinks they make. $4 Bloody Mary's at lunch. I recommend this place for Mothers Day, weddings, special occasions, romantic dinner, girls luncheon and I have even stopped in by myself. Downside: (but don't be discouraged) I thrice had the pleasure of getting the "new" and untrained servers.... Watching the table next to you get water refills and bread and butter and your server neglects to even return to see how the meal is can be a bummer. The neighboring server accidentally brought us a roll and said "OOOPS wrong table" although we exclaimed "we'll take that" and she said "I'll tell your server; these are for my table" was a bit cheesy. Our server never returned until we were done. Ask the hostess for a good server. They should know. This review was my 3rd visit in about 5 weeks and it's consistently 4 stars which is good. read more
