Will never go here again. I used to really enjoy sitting outside. Today I was excited to share this restaurant with my soon to be mother in-law as she is visiting from NY and 84 years old. I asked Winston the host if we could sit at a Specific table that was not in direct sun. I explained I was just going to help my mother in-law get out of the car. Which was right in front of the host stand. He was not friendly at all when I walked up. He had an attitude when I asked for that table. There were a several empty tables but he explained that those are for parties of five and we were only three. That's fine because I showed him the table I wanted. He acknowledged and I went to get Lucy. Two woman walked up and he took them straight to the table I wanted. When he came back to the stand his excuse was first come first serve. I do not understand the logic of not sitting 3 people at a 5 top with two empty seats but sitting 2 people at a 4 top and still having 2 empty seats. He was very rude and unprofessional. My parting words were I hope you have an experience just like this with your mother. Very unpleasant experience. Disappointed. We were going there for lunch and to inquire about possibly have our wedding there. I had my mothers funeral lunch there with 50+ people. Service since has gone down hill. Can't make reservations for outdoors so You never know if you're going get in. In an evening sometimes you don't get a table till 8 PM. And then No one pays any attention to you unless your entire party is there. I was sat at the table for good 20 minutes waiting to order a drink. As soon as my friends showed up two of the waitresses came over. you get rushed to pay the bill and get out the door at 9 PM sometimes when you still have wine and food in front of you. I used to love this place. Now, not so much. My wife and I have been here several times and loved the Mediterranean octopus. It was a fabulous dish that had a nice savory broth, artichokes, pancetta, and sun dried tomatoes. I looked forward to getting it every time. Alas that is no more, we went on Sunday and they changed the sauce to butter. Not a butter sauce, just butter. This went from a dish that I ordered every time, to one that I will never order again. Mediocre food presented in a beautiful setting. One must admit that the location (location, location) of this restaurant is finger licking good. What is not so, is the food itself. On a recent visit, we felt some pressure to leave our table since they wanted another seating to start. A restaurant that claims to radiate an European (French) atmosphere in setting and taste should follow the tradition of the country it tries to emulate. Furthermore, the food is quite mediocre as well. A couple examples: - A filet mignon was NOT a filet mignon but another cut of beef. It was not tender but rather mushy. - A ceasar salad was a joke. A few leaves of salad, some croutons and parmesan grinds from a package, - Beef tips that were greasy and hard to chew All the dishes are priced to be top notch but they all fall short... My wife and have coming to Bon Appetit for drink and a possible snack since before there was the bar area. It became more of a favorite when the bar area was built. It was always cool when you sat at the bar area. Yesterday we found the bar area oppressively hot and uncomfortable. The fans previously in place around the bar area have been replaced with decorative ceiling fans that do not direct airflow to the customers in the bar area. Okay so the place is a bit cheesy and the crowd is older but so what?!?!?! The views are beautiful and they have a live piano!!! I attended a birthday brunch here with a large group and overall everyone seemed to like their food and have a good time. Someone in our party made reservations well in advance and requested a large table for the large party and somehow we ended split into 3 or 4 tables, and no they were not adjacent to one another. In fact some in our party had no choice but to give their backs to the birthday girl. This was odd but since I was just a guest I did not stress it, the birthday girls husband did make a comment about it since he requested a large table for the whole group. Our servers were very friendly and service was prompt. I was happy they were able to make an aperol spritz as this is my go to brunch drink! Mimosas are so passé! Teehee. I decided to get the Beef Tenderloin and mushroom hash with two fried eggs with béarnaise. I think I lucked out and got the yummiest thing on the menu! I truly enjoyed this dish! The eggs were kind of like Scottish eggs! If I ever find myself at this establishment again this is what I am ordering. Honey got a fish sandwich and found it a bit dry, he did order some sauce which helped remedy the issue. All in all it a nice place. The view is amazing (just look at my pics below)!!! Parking was not hard to find the day we were there but I can see this being a problem on busier days. Downtown Dunedin is pretty popular during the summer, and rightfully so as the small town has so much charm! This place is so bad I had to log back into my Yelp from 2019 to warn everyone. The view and sunset is one of the best but the food is dead last. Could not recognize at least two of the items on the $38 Filet dish. We all ate these two items and none of us could recognize what was being served. Cocktails were good n' plenty (and not the first stop$ so no drink pics..... Lots of martini options, the key lime pie rimmed with graham cracker crust martini and the watermelon cucumber cocktail were my favorites. But the orange cream sickle Martini the pomegranate martini, the black cherry and and their riff on tequila sunrise are all good. Fun environment, at the bar or at covered table off to the side. No food service later on sat but the outdoor seating section is right on the water. the pier is right over the fence and pics don't lie. UGH!!! C'mon Bon Apetit, get it together! We tried 2 years ago on our Anniversary and it was a bust. But its always recommended on facebook when someone asks for a fine dining restaurant so we decided to try again, for our Anniversary last night. We enjoy the outside bar and go often. The bartenders are always friendly and hard working. Inside is a completely different situation. We were sat with a view, YAY, going good so far! I dont remember our servers name, but he was friendly, talked about a few dishes and gave us an iPad to look through and said he'd be back with bread. Okay...this is going well! My husbands said came out, and still no bread. Im hungry....wish I had bread as I watch my husband eat his salad. After the server passed us a few times I reached out and asked if I could please have bread, and a glass of wine. The wine comes....still no bread. I figured my bread would come with my meal, at this point, haha. I can get over the bread delay, not worth getting upset over. It was really just a piece of the entire upset. Anyway, around the corner he finally came with hot bread, and as suspected, a few seconds later, our meal. ***sigh*** my plate was disappointing. The scallops looked delicious but I couldnt really make sense of the risotto, just looked like blob to take up space on my plate. On top of my risotto sat 5 tiny pieces of butchered and charcoaled steak. Dont judge...maybe its delicious??????? I eat a scallop, ok this is good, scallops are always good. I try one of my tiny bits of charcoaled steak (I asked for medium rare but these were so small that temp would be impossible to achieve!)....chewy charcoaled BLAH. No way was that pilot mignon, and if it was, the Chef did it a HUGE disservice, while insulting me at the same time. Yes, insulted! Insulting in that he didnt care enough about my enjoying a good meal. He didnt care that I was paying for a pricey plate at a beautiful restaurant and DESERVED a decent meal. He didnt care that we could chosen any of hundreds of restaurants in the area but we chose his restaurant for our celebratory meal. he should've cared. My husband begrudgingly ate his mediocre meal because he's more tolerant than I. I just got up and quietly told the manager I was unhappy and please take it from the bill, and that I didnt want a scene. I just wanted to quietly pay the bill for my husbands food and drinks, and leave. Thankfully he obliged. We left, went down the street and just got a slice of pizza. Came here for the first time with my boyfriend. We made a reservation at 7:30, came in 20mins early just to check in. They sat us in a reasonable time. Our table was probably the best table In house. It was in the corner with a beautiful view of the water. The menu is pretty limited. We ordered Ahi tuna to start off as an appetizer....it was okay. Definitely frozen tuna. What was weird was when I saw the server assistant bring out the food, they just leave it on the tray stand till the server comes over to place it on the table. Our appetizer and salads were just left out on the tray for good 3 minutes till our server came out to place it on the table. When we were eating our entree's, we over heard a table next to us ask a server for bread and butter...I looked around and saw other tables received bread and butter as well. We thought we would automatically get bread and butter. Didn't know we had to ask for them. We ordered creme brulee for dessert and it was definitely over cooked.
