I heard good things about the food of this restaurant, so I had to try it out. An Indian Halal restaurant, narrow but clean place. The restroom was clean too, that's always a great thing for a restaurant! I do understand most of the customers they gets are not actually desi like us, so it's not spicy at all. I should have asked for it when ordering. But there's always a great excuse to come back & try the food again . The food was actually very very good, amount was a lot for one person. 2 people can easy eat the amount I got for their lunch special! I am a true Bangladeshi so if you know we love food spicy ! So for me next time I will ask for my spicy ! I ordered plain naan, Sikh kabab, chicken tikka masala , gulab jamun & lacchi. Lacchi could be little sweeter, gulab jamun was little hard inside but tasted fresh. Naan was perfect , kabab & tikka masala wasn't spicy at all. So for Americans that's actually perfect ! The stuff were excellent but all of them were not knowledgeable about their own food. Maybe they are not used to being asked by a customer what they recommend from the menu. Besides that there was no issue. Both were very friendly, helpful. Now for the owner I wish they would make this place look nicer, it's a small place but it could be a cute little cozy place if they actually do some decorations changes. Now s days when all the restaurants are looking all dolled up, this looks very boring. This is just suggestions, people loved to take pictures & make videos & post them online. That's how business gets recognized this days, so as a customer I am just giving my opinions. I will be back later when the wether gets better. Thank you for the great service & food . Good luck & hope to see some new looks..!

We came here for a catch up lunch after spending the day doing chores. We were starving so, we ordered a few appetizers to share. We ordered fried shrimp ($8.95), shrimp pakora ($7.95), chicken samosa ($3.95). The menu description was a bit confusing. The fried shrimp was actually curried style and came with a delicious and fluffy poori. Tere loved the curry and kept the extra bits that was left. I personally lost interest in the dish once the last shrimp was consumed. The shrimp pakora was fried shrimps with onion rings. I noticed a light curry scent in the batter. My friends enjoyed the chicken samosas but, I wasn't really a fan because I don't like ground meat. We did three daily specials that included an appetizer and entree for $17. We got the chicken tikka appetizer and chicken tikka masala and chicken korma. The chicken tikka app came out blazing hot and we got a massive mound of chicken. The chicken had a nice char on the outside. We enjoyed both currries we got for the entrees. However, we felt that the chicken tikka masala was more flavorful but, the korma is perfect for people with a low tolerance of spicy. I did wish that the naan was a bit more buttery but, everyone else thought it was okay. For dessert, the waiter treated us to a free round of rice porridge. Personally, I never liked this but, my friend loved it. We also got some pistachio ice cream and it was so delicious and creamy. I loved that the ice cream tasted fresh and wasn't like other places that was filled with ice chips. The service was okay. The waiter only stopped by to drop off items and he escaped back into the kitchen. I am guessing that they are very short-staffed and he had to help out in the back. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and love Indian food. The prices are affordable and they are very generous with the portion sizes.

Food was ok but there was a bug in the complimentary dessert I've been ordering for a while but this time I saw something black as soon as I opened it when I took it out this is what I saw

WAY too much food coloring on this chicken tikka masala

What did I just eat? The chicken tikka masala was SO RED that I thought I was eating paint. I scooped it over some rice and it dyes my plate. I had a few spoons but it just felt so wrong and unhealthy because of the intense food coloring that I couldn't bring myself to finish this. If only you can see the color of this. The mango lassi was on a similar boat and was more orange than what I'm used to when I order at other restaurants. Please stop using so much food coloring. Otherwise, chicken and vegetable Samosa was really good and the owner/staff was really nice and friendly. You get 10% off for using cash. I'm hesitant to try this restaurant again because of the overuse of food coloring.

Delicious India food! We ordered delivery. The food came hot and wrapped nicely. The Tikka Masala tasted so good. The garlic bread was fresh and delicious.

Curry comes in a pint container but you get a lot of rice on the side. I got mostly bones with little meat and meat was too chewy.

How can you present this so poorly to people? We overheard more than one wait staff complaining loudly that someone was late in arriving. We assumed the kitchen was backed up, hence their unprofessional complaining and ill planning for the holiday. We opted to walk out and leave. They were visibly happy to see us leave. Awful! We will NOT be coming back. We had a wonderful time across the street at Salty Dog and were treated like valuable patrons; not ignored.

You can easily check their online website to see if they will deliver to your address. Food came so quickly. Came in less than 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the packaging was not great and a lot of the food leaked. The food was still edible and they were generous with their rice portions. Flavor is good, not very spicy for the curries. Portion size is not bad either. The garlic naan was a little disappointing. It looked half burnt and the garlic flavor was very mild. Just felt like a regular naan with some pieces of garlic tossed on top. The lamb korma I ordered separated after 30 mins, and you can see that there was a lot of oil. Overall: food is not bad, portion size is good, but the take out packaging is not so good.

Bombay Grill is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. The food is gently spiced and not greasy. The last time I checked, they had an excellent health department grade. It was a challenge to find that plus an affordable lunch special. One of my other favorite Indian restaurants has had several issues with the NYC health department. The Yelp app is very helpful - it lists the health department grade after the ratings. Bombay Grill also makes excellent curries. I prefer those over the usual chicken tikka masala - although that's always good. If you order lunch, the lunch box has more variety but less of the main course. So if you want just one main dish, it's better to go without a box lunch option and just choose a standard lunch deal.

All in all, it sounds like a pretty good deal, especially since free (and speedy!) delivery is offered with a $12 minimum. I was very excited for my lunch because I ordered samosas, which are one of my favorite things to eat. These samosas were comically large and quite delicious. The crust was crispy and robust enough to hold all the smooth filling of curried potatoes and peas without getting soggy. However, the accompanying condiments were so thinned out to the point that they weren't really sauces anymore, but rather colored water. The cucumber raita didn't taste like anything, nor did the spicy mint pesto. The tamarind chutney had a slight fruity tang to it, but lacked viscosity. Although my chicken tikka masala entree had generous portions of chicken, it tasted drier than cardboard. The rice was not very fluffy but the naan was superb. I realized my tongue started feeling weird and tingly after eating the entree. I'm not quite sure what could have caused this sensation but as I have a tree nut allergy, I suspect some cross-contamination may have occurred. Indeed I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening feeling rather poorly. Overall, I probably would give Halal Indian Food & Falafel one star for the overcooked (and possibly contaminated) entree. The watered down condiments were also not very appealing. What is the point in including chutneys and raita if they lack taste? I'll add one more star because the delivery service was efficient and the samosas and naan were not bad at all. However, those with food allergies should be a bit wary when ordering from this establishment.
