The Bombay Express truck sits in front of the Children's Pavilion at lunch time, one of the many reliable trucks that crowd the MCV campus during those hours, supplying tasty food for the hungry masses. The woman inside is cheerful and pleasant, serving up traditional Indian fare with a smile every time. The food itself is reliably acceptable, though I can't claim it's excellent, much as I want to. The dal makhani [a Punjabi dish of lentils, for the uninformed] is the most reliably tasty of the things on offer, with the other vegetarian dish of curried potatoes a solid second [Aloo matar, I think]. The chicken makhani wasn't quite as flavorful and the sauce was a bit sweet for my tastes, though not as bafflingly sweet as the raita offered to accompany the dishes [disappointing, since I usually adore raita]. She has single-handedly converted me to a lover of pickle, though, so there's something to be said for that! read more
