They had uttapam and manchow soup to begin with. For the main course, they had 3-4 curries, sambar, dal, rice, pulao, puri, raita, and papad. For dessert, they had gulab jamun pudding which was delicious. The food was great too. Would love to visit again soon.

We ordered two thalis, which were good. The spice level was moderate, not too hot, and overall the food was decent. I was especially excited to try the Hyderabadi Dum Biryani because it's rare to find a place that makes it authentically dum style. Before ordering, I specifically asked our server if it was actually dum cooked, and she said yes. Based on that, I ordered it and also asked for it to be spicy. Unfortunately, the biryani wasn't spicy and was pretty tasteless for me, so I mentioned it to our server. This is where the service really stood out. She was very nice about it, acknowledged my concern, and offered to replace it with Chinese fried rice based on what I was looking for. For a first-time visit, the biryani was definitely disappointing, but I really appreciated how well our server handled the situation. Good customer service can make a big difference when something doesn't go as expected, and that's what made this a better experience for us. Giving 4 stars mainly because of the service, along with the decent thalis and comfortable, spacious seating.

We came on a Sunday morning around 10am and there was only one worker out front. We ordered at the kiosk and he got right to work on our drink order. Our food came out before our drinks. Good service! What we ordered: - CHICKEN TIKKA QUESADILLA (Chicken Tikka, Three Cheese Blend, Chipotle Aioli on Flour Tortilla) - BANANA PUDDING MATCHA LATTE (Ceremonial Grade Matcha, Banana Syrup, Milk, Banana Pudding Cream, Crushed Nilla Wafers) - SPANISH MATCHA LATTE (Ceremonial Grade Matcha, Sweet Condensed Milk, Milk) Everything was made fresh and it was all tasty. The banana pudding matcha latte was very good, the banana aspect didn't taste like artificial banana syrup. We've been to places where it literally tasted like a Banana Runtz Candy. I would recommend this place.

Chai Chenak is separated into a restaurant area that specializes in classic street food items like bun kebab, and a cafe section next door. I've enjoyed the Kathi rolls here, but the main reason to visit is for the Kashmiri chai, which is prepared in large quantities and always ready to go. The chai has a slight buttery saltiness that adds to the richness, especially when you pair it with a healthy dose of sugar.

This is advertised as an unlimited thali, yet it was nearly impossible to get a refill because no one was around to ask. At most unlimited thali restaurants, the staff regularly comes to the table, offers refills, and serves guests with warmth and hospitality. That was completely missing here. To make matters worse, when I politely shared my feedback with the manager, they responded in a rude and unprofessional manner instead of listening to the customer. Considering the high price, the overall experience was not worth it. I wouldn't recommend this place and won't be returning.

But what HAS changed is the place just having a steady stream of customers trickling in but not the kind of overwhelming crowd we dealt with years ago. We had two plates of Kathiyawadi Special Thali and we had prompt refills whenever requested. The thali meals also had quite a variety of sides. Now the real problem is with this business and their prices. We were fixed to eat at a Kathiyawadi and wanted to try the newly opened Kathiyawadi II at Edison and while casually looking up the menu and price we found the Edison one had the Kathiyawadi special meals marked at $34.99 and that too Limited servings (no refills) whereas this one at Sayreville serves the same meal as unlimited for $25.99!!! Since we had decided to eat at Kathiyawadi, we still picked this location and went for lunch. Future outings here? Well that's debatable.
