To be fair though, it's the same food so it's a full review on that front, it's just the only ambiance I can talk about is the gleam on the plastic bag and the glorious white sheen on the polystyrene. The good thing about this place is their fresh food policy, they don't use chemical colouring and in general there's a low fat, home cooked healthiness to these meals. I tend to mix it up what I order so I've had a decent proportion of the menu, except the prawns. I don't like those. The samosas are lovely, the lamb gosht from Lahore is a classic, really nice tandorri chicken and the butter chicken is creamy with the right depth of spices. I usually order the Peshwar naan which is great - the dried fruit in it seems to offset the spiciness really well. Anyway, I won't tell you about what rice I order, it's getting boring but all in all it's tasty, fastish (40 minutes at normal times) and although it's not cheap, cheap, it's not crazy either. Nayaab is little like a black hole on the New Kings Road... very unassuming store front, funky Indian name, and when you go in, you get to walk all the way into the back where you will find about 9 tables. There were five of us tonight, and the service was fabulous and the food wonderful. I opted for the Tandoori Chicken my second favorite Indian Dish. Along with the chicken a couple of veggies were ordered, my favorite being Chana Garam Masaladar, which are wonderful chick peas cooked to a Punjabi recipe. My chicken arrive pipping hot on a hot skillet steaming away quite merrily. The breast and leg we cooked perfectly... Tender bits of chicken fell off the bone with very little effort. The cooking method of Tandoori takes full advantage of infusing the spices and heat of the oven to produce moist tasty bits. Along with the chicken the steamed rice which came out was a great pairing. One of my mates wanted to order the Vindaloo, and the waiter mentioned that it was an extremely hot spice curry.. I just could envision my little mexican friend frying his mouth out with lava, since the heat from the curry is much different than the Jalapeno's he may of been interested in...he chose wisely not to go for the Vindaloo, but the waiter was nice enough to bring him a side dish of the Vindaloo sauce for him to try...After he tried it, he announced that it wasn't very spicy to begin with... I sure he will be screaming for ice cream first thing in the morning... just saying..

The service was good and the welcome warm but even my guests said next time they would like try somewhere different. I don't know if the chef had changed or cost cutting had led to noticeable changes but it wasn't to the standard of before. The lamb biriyani had tough pieces of meat and as my guests discreetly pointed out the cuts were not the best that had been purchased. The prawn curry portion was half the size it used to be and tasted as it would from any local curry house, it no longer had that marinated depth of flavor. The first sweet lassi was ok but towards the end of the evening when a second was ordered all three of us could see the difference it had been watered down and tasted different. Both the naan and the tandoori paneer lacked the smoky taste of being cooked in a tandoor as it used to taste before, either the tandoor has gone, wasn't working or this chef isn't as adept at bringing the flavors out. Another sign of cost cutting is our table initially only got two chutneys, the table adjacent had four, I asked why and our server said that's only if you order papadums, later I asked for the four chutneys to be brought so my guests could try which were happily brought over but I don't know if they were complimentary or if they were added to the bill because our server at the end of the meal gave a total amount and the credit card machine whereas previously mints and the itemized bill would be presented first so one could check all was in order.

The tikka masala contained (rightly) pieces of tikka in a thick and tasty source. Service was ok (sorry I can't say more than that really). Would I return? Yes, but would leave out the starters.

I understand that a good curry requires some onion action but they should be cooked down not left at this semi-soft state. All 3 dishes had way to much onion which was a disappointment. I would like to say that the food really wasn't oily or too salty which is seriously worth noting given the usual state of Indian takeout in London.

My boyfriend is such a regular that he doesn't need a menu, the waiter just confirms that he wants the same thing he always gets. The food is good but I wouldn't get too creative with what you order. They make a very good curry and that's what I stick with. I have tried to order other things but they are never as good as the curry. The food and service are what makes this place a popular local destination and it's a nice way to spend an evening.
