We hired JRL to design and build a custom bar room in our home that involved breaking down a wall…read morebetween our family room and formal living room. We solicited several bids and decided to go with JRL because they assured us it would be completed by Christmas. As of today, it still has not been completed. Up until less than a week before Christmas he insisted it would be completed. It never was. If he would have been honest with us, we could of scheduled Christmas dinner at another family members home. The entire process has been a nightmare. Broken promises, no shows, excessive overcharges for items that should have been part of Jim's architects drawings (he hires his own) but conveniently left out so when you find out you need them (like GFI's, proper lighting), he can overcharge you. He will come in lower but price the lowest level of product - you need to be very careful here with him. This is how he comes in lower. Also, you DO NOT have to pay $500 for a quote. Do not let him talk you into this. He will tell you that he has this super duper design software package that will enable him to walk you through the design, open and close cabinets, etc. When actually is your basic CAD software that he doesn't even know how to operate and almost every general contractor has. If you are duped into paying it (like I was) he will then try to sneak in another $200 - $300 for an engineer that you never agreed to and should be his cost. He will sell you his services based on his expertise and accreditations. However, after the first check is cut, you will not see him again, ever unless you insist he shows up! He has a much less experienced person show up at your home to manage the job. ALSO, if you do for some reasons decide to go with JRL, PLEASE have an attorney review the language in his proposal/contract. Make sure you take out any language that pertains to paying his legal costs, paying for supplies he has ordered if HE cancels project (read this condition carefully), eliminate broad clauses that he has that allows him to upcharge you for increased costs, trash removal, take out no internet purchases for fixtures, buy your own fixtures and appliances, JRL marks them up considerably. By the way, I have never had to sign such a one-sided contract/proposal on any remodeling projects in the past and I have had several large ones. I should have known better but the promise of "done before Christmas" sucked me in. Do not agree to pay him weekly as "his" bills come in. There should be a percentage paid as the project progresses as other contractors do. DO NOT pay him the last installment until all the work including your punch list is completed. I held back an agreed upon $300 for completion of punch list. A week after my check was cashed; he filed a legal complaint for the $300, plus $6,000 in legal fees and damages due to business HE lost. I believe he did this to another Angie's list member if you read all the reviews. If you would like to discuss in more detail, please feel free to email me at dwesemann@verizon.net. I am a single homeowner and far from an expert on home repair and remodeling. I wish I would have had some warnings prior to selecting JRL.

Her knowledge about materials, color combinations, room size and what will fit is incredible. Most of the things that I put on my "if we have space" list she was able to accommodate for us. She was able to accommodate a coffee bar(I didn't even dream of that)! She walked us through the showroom and pulled things that she thought we would be interested in and she was spot on with her choices. She helped us decide what cabinets, knobs, handles and colors would work best for our dream kitchen. When I say we have our dream kitchen we really got our dream kitchen and more because Emily was able to configure the space to allow our hearts desire. Rocky is her fur baby and he is such a gentle giant. Really this big boy is a natural service dog, his ability to soothe people is amazing. Love you Rocky! Vince was amazing with measurements and such a pleasure to chat with. He knew his business and worked with a knowledge that came through clearly. My husband loved Uncle, he did the installation, he said he had a great sense of humor and worked quickly. His experience with installation was impressive. All in all from the beginning to the end, we had an incredible experience with Element Granite & Quartz! Wonderful products, prices, and service! Thank you Emily and family for your dedication

From the very first consultation to the final finishing touches, John was not only the lead on the project but also wore multiple hats as the designer, general contractor, and master craftsman. His level of dedication and skill at every stage was both rare and remarkable. What truly sets John apart is his proactive approach and clear communication. He kept me fully informed throughout the process, always offering creative solutions and thoughtful suggestions that elevated the overall design. His eye for detail, paired with his craftsmanship, transformed my kitchen into a space that's not only functional but truly beautiful. Equally important, John was incredibly fair and transparent--qualities that are just as valuable as the technical skills. It's clear he takes great pride in his work and genuinely cares about delivering a top-tier experience. If you're considering a renovation and want someone who brings passion, talent, and integrity to the table, I can't recommend John highly enough. My kitchen is now the heart of my home--and it's all thanks to his outstanding vision and execution. I put a few before and after photos below.

Johnanthony Fiorilli, of JA Kitchen and Bath, completely renovated our "powder room", our two…read morebathrooms, and our kitchen. These rooms were demolished "to the studs" and completely rebuilt. We were very pleased with the work he and his colleagues did, have asked him to do other work on our house, and recommend him strongly. Johnanthony brings to his work excellent building skills, great intelligence and creativity, perseverance, honesty, kindness, and friendliness--and a fine sense of humor, an important asset in dealing with the frustrations of renovation work. And there were a lot of frustrations on our jobs. Our house was not well designed, and many shortcuts were taken in its construction. Being a kitchen-and-bath-renovation general contractor is a very difficult profession, as you're constantly fitting new wiring, plumbing, appliances, and other work--all the fundamental systems that make a house work--into an existing structure, rather than being able to "start fresh". In our case, the difficulty was increased by the "inherited" problems in our house. And we had problems with delays and incorrect shipments from suppliers, and we caused some problems by changing our minds about some things. Throughout all of this, Johnanthony worked hard and thoughtfully to solve problems, to figure out new ways of doing things as the structure of the house required initial plans to be modified. When problems came up, he worked with us to solve them. When we had warranty issues--bad finish jobs on a couple of our cabinet doors--he made sure that the vendor replaced them, and installed the new ones at no cost to us. Johnanthony was very consultative with us and made it clear that our happiness with our new rooms was his highest priority. We felt that Johnanthony's pricing was fair, and he was very clear about his billing process. We felt that he was completely honest.
