Amazing 1 night experience. The Travel Suite and backyard of this B&B was absolutely darling. The owner must be a decorator as everything was so darn cute. Extremely clean with ALL the amenities. The owner was very accommodating, as I had a change in travel plans. In fact, I called her about 6x with all my questions and changes after the initial booking.

Charming, cute and well appointed room in a location that is walking distance to downtown. Check in was straightforward and easy. Biggest downside was the extra guest in the bed.

I want to update my 5 star review to a 3 star. We have stayed at BGH several times. This is our third time. We usually love staying here. However, this last time, we booked a 4 night stay with booking.com. When we arrived, we received an invoice from BGH for only 3 nights. We checked with booking.com and confirmed that we had prepaid 4 nights, so we called the manager at BGH. She had to move us to a different room on the fourth night. This was very inconvenient for us. Check out was scheduled for 11:00 AM. We had pack our bags, etc. And we would not have access to our new room until 3:00 PM. We were dealing with the inconvenience, but my husband noticed that they charged our credit card for the extra night, so I was pretty disappointed. It was their mistake and an inconvenience for us. Also, the extra night cost is more than the original booking.com price.

Comfortable beds? Check!

They were covered in mud and debris; just like all animals, this makes them very uncomfortable. Throw a saddle on that, and they can be downright angry. FYI, I owned horses as a kid. As soon as we started on the trail, my horse took off at a fast gallop and would not stop. After he caught up to the other horses, he slowed down. The next time he got a bit behind, he did it again, only this time when I tried to slow him, he threw me off of his back down a hill about 15 feet off the trail. The pain was instant and excruciating and the trail hand did nothing. My daughter came to my aid and at than time the employee informed us that an ambulance would not come up to get me as they couldn't make it up the trail and I couldn't walk back down. My daughter and a stranger, helped half carry me up the hill. Long story short, the ranch denied any responsibility, gaslit me by claiming that the horse didn't throw me (I guess I grew wings and flew down the ravine, and didn't even have a first aid kit for ice. I went to St L's trauma ER for tests. Diagnosis: broken back. My healing is slow and I don't l know if I'll ever be back 100%. They offered me zero compensation for my pain and medical bills--their concern seemed to be avoiding a lawsuit. I write this not for revenge but out of concern for the next person who gets thrown. The ranch hand did tell me that 5 others had been thrown off. I was lucky that I'm not paralyzed or dead. Be very careful when choosing a place to ride horses. And make sure they have emergency protocols in place beforehand. They don't even offer helmets! I'm two months out and still suffering. Buyer beware!

When we arrived, everything looked fine on the surface, but we were very tired and would find out in the morning that everything was not fine. Even that evening, we had some concerns with the bathrooms and other bedrooms. There was a strange smell, like mildew, coming form the bathrooms and bedrooms. we settled for the night and tried to get some sleep. The next morning, we found out some things that were very wrong. The bathrooms had that mildew odor for a reason, there was mildew and mold in the showers. The rooms reeked of it. In the main areas of the house, it still smelled as if it had not been cleaned. We were right. There may have been cursory cleaning on the surface (vacuuming main rooms) but that was it. Behind the couch was an unwrapped candy bar and a child's sock. There was was a thick film of dust on everything that did not take much to notice. The counter in the kitchen was sticky with something that had been spilled on it and it ran down the was visibly to the floor. The carpet itself was vacuumed but very dirty. All of the windows had not been cleaned as evidence by the marks on the glass as well as cobwebs and scores of dead insects on the window sills and frames. The Venetian blind in the living room had a broken slat. The refrigerator had a bad odor that my wife cleaned out and the oven looked as if it it had not been cleaned ever. It was truly disgusting what we found and very uncomfortable to be in. We are clean people. We don't expect white glove clean from a rental, but these things are unacceptable. I called Chris about these issues and he asked if we wanted it clean. Of course we did, and a he said he would get a cleaning crew out as soon as possible. One person arrived, not a crew. She was not enough to handle this mess. She spoke to Chris and he offered to offered to move us next door. We accepted and found more of the same. It was marginally cleaner. The carpets were not as dirty. Both of the bathrooms had mold and mildew in the cracks. The master bathroom had some serious issues. The tub would not drain properly and the smell was atrocious. Everything had that same film of dust, counters were not clean, the refrigerator needed to be wiped down, the windows were dirty (cobwebs and dead insects again), the oven was filthy (again, doesn't looked like it has ever been cleaned), microwave dirty as well. The other issue in this rental was the smell of the beds. They all smelled like body odor. We found that they had no mattress covers. The cleaning lady did buy one for one of the beds, which helped, but did not address the problem. My wife and I spent the whole day helping the one person sent to clean the rental. We did not go on vacation to clean someone else's house. We lost a whole day in Boise because of this. My wife wanted to get us something to put in the oven so we didn't have to go out to one or two of the days but couldn't because the ovens were so dirty. The smell in this rental was unnerving and we started to feel ill. We thought we may have picked up something traveling, but once I left the rental for a few hours to pick up food and other provisions, I started to feel better. My wife was getting worse. I noticed this pattern for two days and my wife as well. By the time we left, our heads were stuffed and aching and we felt terrible. Once we left, I felt better and healthy after about four hours. My wife is still feeling it. I have pictures of the mold in the showers but regret not taking pictures of the other issues (I don't know how to post them here). We were not able to enjoy ourselves in Boise and had to cut some things out of our trip because of this. We feel we need to be reimbursed for our rental there. It was nothing that we expected. We rented the property because of the reviews that said it was sparkling clean and it could not have been further from the truth. We are still living with the effects of that stay. The owner refused to respond to our complaints and has offered nothing in resolution. Very dishonest company.

This property juts up to a beautiful section of the South Fork of the Payette River. The hosts have set up many different seating areas overlooking the river. The property sits above the river and there is a cliff right next to the river, but with a couple of private trails that lead down to the property's own private beach areas when the river is lower. The crown gem of the property however is a nice little hot pool that is the perfect temperature for soaking. Our favorite times to soak were in the early morning hours and well into the night when it was nice and dark. The hosts had provided some nice floating equipment to use in the pool that were great for relaxing in the water and enjoying some epic stargazing. This property is in the wilderness away from town so the setting is perfect for this type of activity. And best of all...you have the whole place to yourselves. The hosts, Jamie and Dan, are some of the nicest and most helpful people and really care that you have a good time on their property. They are very warm and welcoming in their demeanor. They are always available if you need them, but they have a way of making it feel as if you have the whole property to yourself, which you kind of do. The separate cabin for the guests is small but super cozy. Even though there is not a kitchen, there is a fridge and microwave with a grill just outside the door. There are a couple of fire pits as well and so there are opportunities to cook over an open fire if you want to. We ate very well while we were there. The hosts also stock the cabin with a variety of different snacks and treats. There are also treats provided for you to feed their horse Legs if you so desire. Activities abound in this area and we are avid hikers, so that is where we spent a lot of our time, but we always loved returning after a long hike to just chill on the property and take it all in. We have stayed at a lot of different places like this, but Double J&D Hot Spring Ranch is probably our favorite. As I said before, the hosts are amazing and there are tons of things to do in the area. They provide their guests with a good range of activities and the property guide book has a good deal of information about the area with recommendations. And if you can't find what you're looking for, Dan and Jamie will probably be able to point you in the right direction. It was our second time staying there and it certainly won't be the last. We were only there for three nights, and I wish we could have stayed longer. If you decide to give this place a chance, I'm sure that you will leave feeling refreshed and rejuvinated as this is the perfect place to unwind, relax, and re-connect with nature.
