We enjoyed seeing her animals and fruit trees, and chatting with her and her delightful granddaughter. Her large homemade breakfasts were delicious, and were served with amazing fresh local fruit! It was the BEST decision I made on the trip. The whole area was warm, inviting and super-clean! I really felt like I was a guest in their home and - as a female traveling solo - felt completely safe, even when coming back late in the evening. Robert and Belva were amazing hosts and Robert gave excellent referrals for services I needed while in town. Belva's delicious, healthy and substantial breakfasts and the various snacks on the kitchen counter were a godsend as I was too busy working on a project to stop for lunch one day and was able to make all the goodies last me throughout the day. I love that Belva incorporates local dairies and other sources in her breakfasts and labels the items for reference. The grilling cheese was da bomb! THE VENUE OWNER IS A NIGHTMARE!…read more First off I rarely write reviews so that should give some insight into just how bad this experience was. Okay, let's get into it. First off my fiancé and myself wanted to get some info on the venue and specific details as anyone would. First was the bathroom situation, we were told by the very rude owner that porta-potty's were the only restroom our guest would be able to use. I don't know about you but this already had me hesitant. My fiancé and I asked if at least women would be allowed to use an indoor restroom due to the dresses and clothing they'd be wearing. Finally we got a very begrudging okay or something of the sort. Mind you this simple request took a bit of finessing but finally the owner gave in. Next was the the way the contract was set up. Now, I'm no lawyer but I have had to read and sign a few contracts in my day as I'm sure anyone around my age has. However, upon reading the contract sent by the owner of the venue I found that it left out details that most would want to at the very least know. On our last interaction which was only our third or fourth phone call she seem highly irritated and when I asked about the contract she raised her voice bringing up a subject that I was not talking about (clearly not even listening to what I was asking). Had she took a moment to pull up the contract that she sent I believe the conversation would have been easier navigated. I had two question... just two. After asking these questions and getting her rude response she said she might already have another couple interested in the venue for the same date and that she wouldn't hold it for us. Mind you we have not put in any deposit so I wouldn't expect her to do so, therefore it seemed like more of a power play trying to get us to book it. To this I told her "I wouldn't expect her to hold the venue for us without a deposit, and if someone is interested in the same day she can book them." After this short but hectic phone call the owner of the venue text my fiancé thinking she was talking to me (even though I just called her from my cell phone) and left an unpleasant text message to say the least. I'll say this I am very happy I saw this owner's true colors and behavior before dropping any serious cash on this place. I feel terrible for the folks that do book it and have to deal with her on what should be their special day. Thanks for the rude text as well for proof. Best of luck to you and your horrible behavior towards people trying to book your venue.

It was easy to make reservations, they sent me a text the day of my stay letting me know passcodes in case I arrived late. The room was spacious, exceptionally clean with a feeling of home. I was greeted like a member of the family and shown to my room, which included an in suite bathroom. The room had a model train motif and had access to a shared separate kitchen and TV room. Most importantly I was able to sleep soundly. Breakfast the next day was offered as early as 7 am, which I took advantage of. It was a full breakfast that included home jam and made to order eggs. I'd stay here anytime!
