Cannot say enough good things about it. I will definitely be going back. It was especially relaxing and comforting during the COVID pandemic. They were thorough, cautious, and respectful. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

The whole area was warm, inviting and super-clean! I really felt like I was a guest in their home and - as a female traveling solo - felt completely safe, even when coming back late in the evening. Robert and Belva were amazing hosts and Robert gave excellent referrals for services I needed while in town. Belva's delicious, healthy and substantial breakfasts and the various snacks on the kitchen counter were a godsend as I was too busy working on a project to stop for lunch one day and was able to make all the goodies last me throughout the day. I love that Belva incorporates local dairies and other sources in her breakfasts and labels the items for reference. The grilling cheese was da bomb! I LOVE this place, consider Robert and Belva my new friends and look forward to making their B&B my new "go to" whenever I'm in town. Thank you for a wonderful experience Robert and Belva!

Great night's sleep under the stars (you can see from the roof of your yurt!) and fun exploration of a very cool part of Oregon. Chris was an excellent host and made sure we had all we needed. Fun to see the piglets running around. I'd use this place again for sure for fishing in the area.

This property has four guestrooms: 2 bunkhouse rooms, which is basically a log cabin split in half with a shared bathroom (toilet and shower) in the back, a yurt, and an RV. I stayed in a one of the bunkhouse rooms and it was charming. Two, double beds (I think that's their proper name), which are fine for one person but would not reasonably hold two. The beds were comfortable and firm, the linens warm and cozy. The room itself was charming, nice little touches like the lamps and the artwork. And, it even had a desk where I could squeeze in a little work while I was otherwise "off grid" (for real, while the ranch has Wi-Fi there is no cell coverage in the Owyhee Canyon. The "hooch" -- the shared kitchen and family room (which some might call a great room) -- is nice. Comfy chairs and couches, a TV (which I didn't use), and a wood burning stove. A nice breakfast layout. A (fancy but essentially camp) stove running off a local propane tank with two burners. Yes, you can pan-fry stuff here -- there are plenty of pans, but you get the strong feeling this is BBQ city once the weather warms up (I saw rotisserie spits and such). All utensils and such are available, plus a coffee pot with coffee and cream in the fridge. (There are also pots under the counter.) Chris and Lori were great, checking in on me on my drive out, greeting me when I arrived, and showing me around the place which, by the way, is in a pretty amazing setting. All in all a lovely trip in a lovely quiet place. This fishing was pretty good, too.

THE VENUE OWNER IS A NIGHTMARE!…read more First off I rarely write reviews so that should give some insight into just how bad this experience was. Okay, let's get into it. First off my fiancé and myself wanted to get some info on the venue and specific details as anyone would. First was the bathroom situation, we were told by the very rude owner that porta-potty's were the only restroom our guest would be able to use. I don't know about you but this already had me hesitant. My fiancé and I asked if at least women would be allowed to use an indoor restroom due to the dresses and clothing they'd be wearing. Finally we got a very begrudging okay or something of the sort. Mind you this simple request took a bit of finessing but finally the owner gave in. Next was the the way the contract was set up. Now, I'm no lawyer but I have had to read and sign a few contracts in my day as I'm sure anyone around my age has. However, upon reading the contract sent by the owner of the venue I found that it left out details that most would want to at the very least know. On our last interaction which was only our third or fourth phone call she seem highly irritated and when I asked about the contract she raised her voice bringing up a subject that I was not talking about (clearly not even listening to what I was asking). Had she took a moment to pull up the contract that she sent I believe the conversation would have been easier navigated. I had two question... just two. After asking these questions and getting her rude response she said she might already have another couple interested in the venue for the same date and that she wouldn't hold it for us. Mind you we have not put in any deposit so I wouldn't expect her to do so, therefore it seemed like more of a power play trying to get us to book it. To this I told her "I wouldn't expect her to hold the venue for us without a deposit, and if someone is interested in the same day she can book them." After this short but hectic phone call the owner of the venue text my fiancé thinking she was talking to me (even though I just called her from my cell phone) and left an unpleasant text message to say the least. I'll say this I am very happy I saw this owner's true colors and behavior before dropping any serious cash on this place. I feel terrible for the folks that do book it and have to deal with her on what should be their special day. Thanks for the rude text as well for proof. Best of luck to you and your horrible behavior towards people trying to book your venue.

Well this one is a bit of a story…read more Wifey and I had been poking around in the Owyhees and decided to stop in on a Saturday to get some food. We were asked if we had reservations. We didn't. The owner told us that we needed them, but there were 4 people who ordered prime rib who hadn't showed up... and that she had to hold the dinners for them. We ordered a wine and beer. My beer... if it had been in the cooler, had been there for fewer than 5 minutes. We chatted and enjoyed the atmosphere and the locals telling tales for a while. The joy of hearing friends tell tales in a rustic hotel in the mountains shouldn't be underestimated. And then...the owner and her staff all came out of the kitchen with the prime rib on their plates. Now... she doesn't owe me anything and it's her business and they're truly free to enjoy a great meal that they prepared... but hey, I would have paid her for the prime rib. So, we laughed it off and had another drink and enjoyed more of the tale -telling Boiled down... The Good... The atmosphere The service from the staff The Meh... The tepid beer and service from the owner The Bad... We were left hungry and the owner ate right in front of us. So we drive to Melba for dinner at Buck's... look for my review of that later

You keep me from my work. Years from now, while I'm eating beans out of a can in my Chinook ... I'll thank you. This is a memory review. I will refresh said memory before the year is out and therefore I feel comfortable giving you this here now. A few years back a friend moved to Missoula. She left her belongings in storage and I, being a swell friend, promised to drive them up once she settled. And she did, so I did. I had never driven to Missoula before. It was unmapped territory. My kind of candy store. The dualies of the U-Haul left the superslab before Redding and touched them not again until just outside Montana. The initial high point was the look on the ranger's face in the Hart Mountain Antelope Reserve on the way to Steen's Mountain. The look, then the question as to whether I was lost (I wasn't), then the observation that they didn't get too many U-Haul's up that way. I was looking for hot springs. His expression softened to one of understanding. Steen's followed (Bradley I trust you know of the sublime beauty that is Steen's Mountain), then a valley along the faultline at the mountain's base, filled with memories of buffalo and the sweetest, hottest springs a body could ever desire. But dig this - it gets better. I overnighted in Jordan Valley and with my Basque supper (sheepherder bread and beans) I perused tomorrow's map and spied what appeared to be a ghost town just over the border in Idaho. 50 miles of graded road. On top of a mountain. Scooby sound. I lit out at first light. Graded skinny steep ass road it turned out to be. I contemplated turning back when the side mirror showed my right rear tire hanging over the abyss, but by then, clearly, it was too late. Long story short - the ranger's face in the reserve was nothing near the faces on the folks in Silver City. Just blank uncomprehension as I pulled over the 15% rise, Polly's belongings now covered in a layer of dust in the back. I share this secret only because I know most of you won't go. This is pretty much the sweetest ghost town I've ever seen. That you have to fight to get there is special; that folks are working to restore it, have turned it into a friendly somewhat spooky but not really, throwback to a century ago, is hella cool. That the Bruneau Dune, the highest/second highest (depends on how the wind blows) in the country is over the hill to the east, forgetaboutit. Ten zillion stars. Which, coincidentally, is but a fraction of what you see out these parts at night. Load the Conestoga loveys, drop me a PM. I'll hook you up with one of the best backcountry adventures you've ever been on. Ever.
