This was the perfect way for us to spend a few days in far southeastern Oregon. We used it as our jumping off to drive Leslie Gulch, and to fish the Owyhee. Great night's sleep under the stars (you can see from the roof of your yurt!) and fun exploration of a very cool part of Oregon. Chris was an excellent host and made sure we had all we needed. Stayed here during a fishing trip to the Owyhee River in mid-April. The weather was unseasonably cold (it snowed while we were fishing), but we dressed warmly, caught fish, and had a great time. This property has four guestrooms: 2 bunkhouse rooms, which is basically a log cabin split in half with a shared bathroom (toilet and shower) in the back, a yurt, and an RV. I stayed in a one of the bunkhouse rooms and it was charming. Two, double beds (I think that's their proper name), which are fine for one person but would not reasonably hold two. The beds were comfortable and firm, the linens warm and cozy. The room itself was charming, nice little touches like the lamps and the artwork. And, it even had a desk where I could squeeze in a little work while I was otherwise "off grid" (for real, while the ranch has Wi-Fi there is no cell coverage in the Owyhee Canyon. The "hooch" -- the shared kitchen and family room (which some might call a great room) -- is nice. Comfy chairs and couches, a TV (which I didn't use), and a wood burning stove. A nice breakfast layout. A (fancy but essentially camp) stove running off a local propane tank with two burners. Yes, you can pan-fry stuff here -- there are plenty of pans, but you get the strong feeling this is BBQ city once the weather warms up (I saw rotisserie spits and such). All utensils and such are available, plus a coffee pot with coffee and cream in the fridge. (There are also pots under the counter.) Chris and Lori were great, checking in on me on my drive out, greeting me when I arrived, and showing me around the place which, by the way, is in a pretty amazing setting. All in all a lovely trip in a lovely quiet place. This fishing was pretty good, too. read more

My husband, myself, and our basset hound pup Gus stayed here for a night in the yurt. The only disappointment was having to leave This place is MAGICAL. It's sparkling clean, the Hooch is stocked with homemade granola, trail mix, condiments, soups, S'MORE KITS. We loved the little gas fire pit, but ended up turning it off to admire the stars. I've never seen so many stars in my life. We played horse shoes, BBQ-ed, star-gazed, and slept like babies on the comfy mattresses. Will definitely be back!! This time with fishing poles. read more

We had the best time!! Brought our CanAm and drove the local trails. Got to meet the on-site buffalo! The yurt has a super cool deck to hang out and enjoy the river - play horseshoes and shuffle board. We'll be back!! read more

It's beautiful and peaceful and when I say they have thought of everything, I mean everything! If you want oatmeal for breakfast, you could choose to top it with pecans or almonds or walnuts and golden raisins or regular raisins and sugar or brown sugar or maple syrup or... You get the point! The rooms in the bunkhouse are cozy and well thought out - my husband and I both slept like rocks - windows open and the cows right out the back made it all the better. We made a day trip to Leslie Gulch one day and it was really not a bad drive from the ranch and such an amazing place to hike. We also went exploring the Owyhee river and reservoir along with all of the interesting canal systems. Lori is a meticulous hostess and we felt very educated about the property, secure and cared for. We are already planning our next trip back (with friends in tow) when we can take over not only the bunkhouse but the yurt and RV as well! Can't wait... read more

This place is a jewel. Surrounded by jaw dropping canyonlands in all directions, bisected by the Owyhee river and its famous brown trout, the setting is perfect. The bunkhouse is tasteful and comfortable, the hooch is spacious and pleasantly serviceable as a camp kitchen should be, and the yurt is a sight to behold! Perfect for families with kids. And, the breakfast is unbeatable! Chris and Lori are friendly, gracious hosts. If you're in the area for the scenery, fishing, hiking or just to chillax (one could do worse than sit with the view and read a book), this is the place. Highly recommended. Lowell M read more

What can I say. I love this place so much. Lori and Chris are the most amazing hosts. They Checked in with us every morning to make sure we had everything we needed. There were logs in the fire in the "hooch" (community space) when we rolled in after al long day of fishing. The pantry is stocked with nuts, granola, hand made energy bars, oatmeal toppings and Sunday topping. Soups chips and everything are available as well as fried full of NA drinks. The space is beautiful directly next to some good fishing spots. I could go on and on but you just need to experience it for yourself. Highly recommend. read more

Owyhee River Ranch is a wonderful location to use as a base camp for exploring the Owyhee Lake and River. If you fly fish, you have access from the property and miles of beautiful river between the ranch and the lake. The accomodations were comfortable and clean. The property is beautiful and the owners are super nice and attentive. We stayed three nights and chose to have all of our meals provided. Lori made delicious lunches for us to take with us on bicycle and kayak trips, then a fantastic meal was ready when we made it back to the ranch for dinner. We'll be back for sure. read more

What an amazingly spectacular retreat to the Owyhee river and the Owyhee lake. I was a bit intimidated by the drive from Portland, but it flew by and the stay at the Owyhee River Ranch was totally worth it. Lori and Chris were amazing hosts and thought of everything. Super clean and homely accommodations, delicious food, and homemade snacks of every kind to savor at any time of day. Not to mention the peace and quiet you get to enjoy while sitting and listening to the river as it runs through their property, watching the fish jump and birds dive to the water.
