We…read morecame at a good time for dinner and was able to fit our group in two tables pushed together. Each person orders their own thing, picking their ingredients and broth. They weigh your bowl of stuff (veggies, meat, seafood, noodles, etc) and it's $15.99 per pound. If you don't pace yourself, it's very easy to end up with an expensive bowl of hot pot. Mines ended up weighting a little over 1.5 lbs, so my hot pot was over $25 before taxes. Some broths also have an additional charge (like the tonkotsu is $4.95 extra), so keep that in mind. I picked the organic miso broth, which had no extra charge. My hot pot was pretty yummy since I got to choose exactly what I wanted in it and even though I ordered a little too much, I enjoyed it the next day for lunch. The sauce bar is included and they offer iced green tea with refills for $1.99 more. If you need a refill of the iced tea, you can let them know and they'll refill your cup. Very refreshing! Even though we paid separately, they do charge 18% big party service charge for groups of 5 or more. Parking was plentiful and easy in the plaza.

And after a quick search on Yelp we came across Solo Hot Pot! We're all vegetarian AND we can't have onion or garlic. So that means our choices are limited.. BUT! After a quick call here we found out that they have 11 vegetarian broths AND neither of them contain onion or garlic! SCORE! I also have been wanting hot pot for the longest and my fiancé doesn't normally care for it but with my FFIL in my corner (he loves it too!) We decided to come here because it closes late as well! We came here around 8ish and it's in this dark parking lot that seemed so out of place.. But as we parked you see Solo Hot Pot just glowing.. Because all the other shops are closed LOL but we make our way in and it was much smaller than I thought! When you come in, to your left side you see a bowl as well as tongs to start grabbing what you want in your hot pot. It's just one long section (veggies in towards the entrance and meats towards the end) and after a close look I see that the veggies are frozen.. hm hm hm, I see you Solo Hot Pot, freezing them makes them a bit heavier when you go weigh it! (Cost is $15.99/lb) So I had to be strategic because 1. I don't want to build an expensive pot and 2. I couldn't eat as much as I have before so I need to get just enough to fill me without over doing it. You also have a variety of other stuff like udon noodles, ramens, ramen egg (UGH SO GOOD!) and other things too! We all chose our ingredients and made our way to the front and choose our soups: DISCLOSURE: If you CANNOT DO SPICY make sure you let them know in ADVANCE as you choose your broth! A lot of these soups are SPICY and my fiancé and FFIL learned the hard way because they can't eat spicy (unlike me LOL) but the nice thing is you do get unlimited soup refills (Not broths, just soup base) and tea refills if you buy their iced tea! Super nice! there's even a sauce station and you can add on rice for 1.99/bowl. I had to convince my fiancé to get some so he wasn't dying from the spice. Very interesting but you pay at the end of the meal even though you weigh everything beforehand. My fiancé doesn't normally care or like hot pot but he actually liked this place! So yay! We'll be coming back but making sure we don't have their pots to spicy LOL

They let us know to pay at the end in case we wanted to add more things, which was nice because we ended up getting white rice.

The restrooms were decently clean when I went, the toilet paper dispenser was broken in one of the stalls but still worked. Instead, we felt rushed to pay the bill, and the way they handled our concerns felt dismissive rather than genuinely trying to resolve the situation. What concerned us even more was that the excessive heat appeared to affect the food itself. The raw meat warmed up very quickly, became extremely soft, and released a significant amount of reddish liquid onto the plates. It no longer looked properly chilled or appetizing. Given how hot it was inside, we were genuinely concerned about whether the raw meat was being kept at a safe temperature. We ordered three plates of meat but ended up barely touching them because we simply did not feel comfortable eating them. Cleanliness was another major concern. Some of the bowls did not appear to have been properly cleaned and still had visible food residue from previous customers. There were also unpleasant odors around the condiment and beverage areas, which made the overall environment even more uncomfortable. At one point, it became so hot that we genuinely felt like we might suffer from heat exhaustion. In a restaurant serving raw meat, proper temperature control, cleanliness, and a safe dining environment should be basic priorities. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience. Even if the price may seem affordable, it is simply not worth saving a few dollars when the dining environment, cleanliness, food quality, and customer service are this concerning. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Once the meats arrived, my sister showed me how to cook them in the bubbling hot pot. Every single broth had its own unique, rich flavor profile, and every single one was delicious. The quality of the meat here is premium grade, and the marbling on the Wagyu beef was absolutely outstanding. I'd love to see where they source their meats because everything tasted ridiculously fresh, right along with the items at the veggie station where they offer over 20 different vegetables, noodles, and toppings. This place is also a major win for families. My nephew said he actually likes this place way better than Korean BBQ spots because smoke doesn't blow in his face! On top of that, I absolutely love that they offer a kids' achievement incentive for straight A students. It's such a wonderful touch for families. The customer service was attentive throughout the night, ensuring our meat plates were constantly replenished during our 90-minute limit. I recently visited Boiling Point with my family for the second time, and once again, we had such a pleasant experience, thanks to our amazing server, Vivie. From the moment we arrived, she greeted us with a genuine smile and warm energy that immediately made us feel welcome. She was extremely friendly, polite, and patient, and she took the time to explain everything on the menu clearly. I could truly feel that she cared about making sure we understood and enjoyed our meal. Throughout our visit, Vivie checked on our table several times to see if we needed anything, always with the same kind attitude and cheerful smile. It's rare these days to meet someone who serves with such sincerity and dedication. She made our dining experience not only enjoyable but also memorable. The food itself was absolutely delicious the flavors were rich and comforting, just perfect for me and my family. We loved the variety and the warmth of each dish; it really felt like a meal cooked with care. However, I did notice that the restaurant seemed a little short-staffed. The place isn't very spacious, and it looked like Vivie was doing almost everything helping customers at their tables and even handling payments at the front. Despite that, she never looked tired or frustrated instead, she kept smiling and helping everyone with such positive energy. Came here with no real expectations -- just a craving and a friend who kept saying "trust me." I have never trusted anyone more completely since. From the second the broth arrived, bubbling and brick-red and absolutely furious, I knew this was going to be one of those meals I'd still be talking about six months later. The mala base is the real deal -- layered and complex in a way that makes you realize most places have been serving you a pale imitation. There's heat, yes, but there's also something deeper underneath it. Floral, a little smoky, with that signature Sichuan peppercorn tingle that makes your lips feel like they've been gently electrocuted. In a good way. We went overboard on the order, which I maintain is the only acceptable strategy. The beef was so thinly sliced it cooked in seconds and came out impossibly tender. The fish balls had that perfect springy bite. The tofu skin puffed up in the broth like it had been waiting its whole life for this moment. And the dipping sauce bar -- sesame paste, raw garlic, chili oil, fresh scallion -- I made four different versions and regret nothing. The staff kept everything moving without us ever having to ask. I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at Bowling Point, mainly because of an employee named Chris. I came in with my dog in a stroller. Instead of being polite or accommodating, Chris was extremely rude and showed clear disrespect toward animals. He refused to allow the dog stroller to be placed next to our table, even though it was not blocking any walkway or causing any inconvenience. He aggressively insisted that we move to a much more cramped and uncomfortable area deep inside the restaurant. His attitude was not about safety or policy -- it felt personal and dismissive. The way he spoke and acted made it very clear that he has no respect for animals or for customers who care about their pets. There was no attempt to communicate calmly or offer a reasonable solution. Restaurants should be welcoming and respectful, especially in a place like California where many people consider their pets part of the family. Being treated this way ruined the entire dining experience. Because of Chris's behavior, I will not be returning to Bowling Point, and I would not recommend this place to anyone who values basic respect, courtesy, or animal-friendly attitudes. read more

This was my third time visiting Boiling Point, and just like before, the food didn't disappoint. I purposely came on a weekday, but it was still as busy as a weekend. All the servers, including the trainees, were good, but Vivie truly stands out , she's always smiling every time. What really makes the difference is her service. Vivie is amazing! She is always attentive, professional, and greets every customer with a warm smile. Even when she's super busy, she notices the smallest things. For example, when I accidentally spilled some water, she immediately brought a towel to help me clean it up. She always checks on customers, asking if everything is okay or if anything is missing. On top of that, she always takes the time to say, "Have a good night," every time customers are leaving, and I really admire her for that. Her thoughtfulness and consistency make every visit so enjoyable. My friends and I always look forward to being served by her, and we can't wait to come back. I was excited to check out this new location, especially since they closed the one at Diamond Plaza. Unfortunately, my visit left a lot to be desired. A few key issues stood out: Parking - The spaces are tiny. If you drive anything larger than a sedan, be prepared for a tight squeeze. Air Conditioning - Virtually nonexistent. The place was uncomfortably warm, and I was sweating the whole time. Definitely dress light. Food & Drink Availability - Menu was outdated and still included summer specials and several drinks that were unavailable. That was disappointing, especially for a newly opened spot. Staff & Atmosphere - We weren't greeted upon entering, which is unusual compared to their other locations. The staff didn't seem happy or welcoming. Service Speed - Extremely slow. We waited much longer than expected for everything. Hoping they work out the kinks soon, but as of now, I can't recommend this location. read more

Boiling Point on Colima continues to be a reliable staple when I am craving hot pot. Service is quick and attentive, and orders come out consistently fast, which keeps things moving even during busy hours. The beef hot pot is always my go to. Right from the start, Kevin greeted us with warm, positive energy and took the time to walk us through the menu. We ordered through UberEats and paid $63 for a DIY portion that was supposed to be 1.5 lbs. When the food arrived, we were completely shocked. The two bowls were practically empty. There were literally only 1 or 2 small pieces of each ingredient we selected--nowhere near the promised 1.5 lbs each. To make matters worse, the food quality and accuracy were awful: Terrible Meat Quality: The rocket squid was incredibly fishy, had a foul odor, and tasted completely old/unwashed. The braised pork head meat was also extremely gamey with a strong, unpleasant smell. We couldn't even swallow either of them. Missing Items: They literally circled the dipping sauces (sesame paste, minced garlic, etc.) on the receipt but completely forgot to pack them. How do you eat Maocai without the sauce? Wrong Ingredients: They just swapped out ingredients without asking. We ordered baby bok choy, but they gave us A-choy. We ordered cauliflower, but they gave us broccoli instead. This was an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience. The portions are a scam, the meat is not fresh, and they can't even get a basic order right. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. Highly do not recommend.

That said, the quality and authentic taste made it worth it. If you're looking for real Sichuan-style Mao Cai in the area, this place is definitely worth trying.
