I have had an extremely negative experience with Boilers R Us in many aspects. 1) Called up and spoke to Charlie because our oil burner was chugging, he was helpful and nice and we set up a service visit for Saturday and he said he would call after 2PM on Friday to set up an appointment. He never called. I called back on Saturday morning and he said to call back at 9:30AM. I called back, was told at 11AM that the window was between 1 and 2 PM. This time went by and the guy without any call or followup showed up at 3:30PM, 1.5 hours after the appointment. 2) Paul showed up and was very friendly but he didn't have the right fuel nozzle. He attempted to get the unit running and then declared that the entire boiler was clogged and that was why it was running so poorly. When he left, I had no heat even though when he came, I did have heat, it just wasn't running well. This was on Saturday at 5PM and he said I would have no heat until they came back on Monday. I asked if there was any way to come back tomorrow (Sunday) to complete the service and I was told to talk to Charlie. I spoke to Charlie and he said he would personally come out if it came to that. 3) It's Sunday morning and I called Charlie, he said at 9am to call back at 10:30. I called back and he said no-one one and not himself are available to come out so it has to wait until Sunday and this was a $300 service that was very complicated because I have a special Italian boiler that is complex (it's not) so this a 6 hour one person job or a 3 hour 2 person job. So just to recap, I had heat, they came, I paid $200 for service, I had no heat, and they wanted to leave me like this for 2 days while I have an 18 month old at home. I called Lewisy and they came out. Within 30 mins, the boiler was running perfectly! I had heat and everything was correct now. Amazingly, the boiler is not clogged, this was a scam. Anyone, please avoid this business at all costs, they do not know what they are doing! read more

Charlie was very nice to talk to. He had suggested trying a leak stopper chemical for my boiler which had a pinhole leak/crack to get me some more time. The solution did not work, yet we were charged the full price. I was quoted $360 but for some reason we wound up paying $540. We never even got a receipt or an invoice. I felt like my boiler leaked even worse after they were done with it. Definitely feel taken advantage of as a newer home owner. Regrets only with Boilers R Us. While I am not a review person, this company MUST be given one for the great service provided. Prior to working with BoilersRUs, I had another service company fix my boiler. And there was nothing but troubles since then. I really tried to work with that person, thinking they knew what they were doing, but as my boiler started and stopped over the next few days, and the weather was getting colder, I looked on line in hopes to find better company to fix my boiler. I came across BoilersRUs, and thought, are they reliable? Being what I had just gone though, I was leery. I read all the reviews from prior customers, and all were favorable. I gave BoilersRUs a call, Charlie answered, and I explained my issues. I sent pics of the boiler and we discussed what could be the problem/s. He said he would send his technicians to look and let me know my options. And it was getting colder each day. Matthew and Jose came by on 11/9. They called with an estimate time and were prompt on arrival. They immediately worked on my boiler for about 2 hours. The issues found were, burnt out circuits, and water build up. They fixed all the issues. On 11/11, again there was no heat, I called BoilersRUs, and Charlie's was patient and kind enough to walk me through what may be other issues and said someone would come by on 11/15/19 On 11/15 Matthew fixed the issue which was with the thermostats. There were faulty wires that needed to be reviewed. The heat began to come up and the house was FINALLY warm Why I am taking the time to write this, is because, in this day and age, SINCERE customer service is almost non-existent. With BoilersRUs, I received the best customer service this side of Long Island, with very reasonable rates. This builds trust from me as a consumer that I confidently recommend them to my neighbor. At first when speaking with Charlie about my boiler he was very helpful. He stayed on the phone with me with the insurance company to file my claim not once but twice. Matt is the only professional in their team that I met. After we decided to work with them for our boiler, water heater and whole house purifier I was introduced to Gus. Gus came off as a caring, profesional individual. I thought my husband, myself and Gus had a great working relationship. The day of the scheduled job the storm Isaias did not allow us to proceed due to lack of power. We rescheduled for three weeks out. The date of the new appointment I texted Gus at 8am to confirm a time of arrival he said 11ish. After the original time of arrival being 8am. This is my first annoyance since when your boiler and purifier go in the water gets shut down to the house so we all woke up at 6:30 to prepare and be ready for their arrival expecting the water off at 8am. Then when they show up, Matt and Gus, they show up in two pick ups, unmarked of the business and they show up with only the boiler. I ask Gus where is my water heater and he states to me in another truck. Yet another annoyance. Why is my water heater on another truck that isn't here? No answer. Then they go to start on the purifier and Gus has to leave to get supplies. That is just something I cannot understand but like I said since Gus myself and my husband had built a personal relationship throughout this process I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Then Gus is gone for an hour to get supplies while Matt is taking out boiler apart. My father in law asks Matt why take the boiler apart if it's just two guys when it was supposed to be 6 guys today? Matt says because Gus and him can take the old boiler out and bring the new boiler in today and install tomorrow. Yet another annoyance because when discussed with Gus he guaranteed me a one day job with 6 guys for everything. So then Gus gets back I ask Gus where the other 4 guys are and he says that 5 guys called in sick this morning. So I ask him from what he says he doesn't know I ask him what's getting done today and he says the purifier and taking the boiler apart. I then tell him why when I texted you at 8am did you not tell me the 5 guys called out and so you can't do the whole job today? He said nothing. Then I tell him so tomorrow you and Matt can finish everything he said yes. Then Gus goes into the basement to start the purifier and Matt has already taken the motor/ignition off the boiler. Gus starts the purifier and states he needs to go back out to Home Depot because he didn't get an extra part and the part he has is bad/cracked and can't be used. Yet another hour Gus is gone. Then when he comes back Gus and Matt take a cigarette break not once or twice but three times and that's an hour more lost from the job. Gus doesn't just take 3 cigarette breaks he takes 5 phone breaks leaving Matt on his own doing nothing. It took them from 11am to 8pm to put in a already pre set ready to go purifier that Gus told me takes an hour, the purifier company told me a plumber can put in within 45min and after all of that the job wasn't done well. When they returned the water to the house the flow was poor and Gus couldn't figure out why so he called the water company. Once we saw this situation and how it unfolded we decided to just have them put our old boiler back together because we need to re-evaluate what we are going to do going forward. Gus was extremely rude to my father in law since my father in law is experienced with plumbing and boilers he would ask Gus questions to follow what his process was and Gus didn't like that someone that knew what was going on was present and questioning him. At one point my father in law asked why the pitch on the pipe going out of the purifier and Gus said in a very nasty demeaning tone "do you understand my answer?" I have been having heating issues where occasionally the central heat would start blowing cold air. I called Charlie and he tried to help me through the phone to help dx the problem, but bc I knew nothing about the boiler system, it was hard to help me. He was able to get one of his technicians over within 1 hour and he walked me through the system while I asked questions. The tech checked my boiler and the pipes and didn't find anything wrong with them, even after draining some water. He figured it was probably my thermostat that was the issue. Hopefully once I change my thermostat, my issue will be resolved. This is a positive review for their prompt service and being very professional and personable. If I have any further issues after I change my thermostat, I will call them. read more

They consulted with us when things had to changed, before it was changed, to meet our FAMILY'S hot water needs. They provided us with options to maximize service, and cleaned up well after the job was done. They checked three times after the job was done to insure our total satisfaction, and on one occasion found something else to do to increase the efficiency of our electric hot water heater, some three weeks after installation. STOP, DO NOT Call these Incompetent people! Let me tell the experience why.I read the reviews here and called them for yearly service of boiler, since I terminated the Petro contract last year. Found some good reviews about Charlie and as expected when called, he picked up and seemed pretty good. However, the experience started when the 2 people with "why am I doing this job? " showed up. I was told on the phone - mini and full service, 150 and 275 depending on the model, and was told it will be 150 for me. Both the people, just changed the filter and nozzle. I asked they didnt clean and vacuum the boiler or chimney, they said they dont have vacuum. They still had guts to ask 275+tax. Which i again reminded that they didnt even clean or vacuum, and i was told there is another truck having vacuum, will stop by later this afternoon. Believing it, i agreed and paid full. Now, when they didnt show up until next morning, I texted Charlie, which he said they already vacuumed it, when I disputed the claim, and told him that they didnt have vacuum, he agreed to send the people again.. They showed up the next day and again their vacuum didnt work. They did the gas pipe blow out and now again charged for 100. well, doing the blowout, they didnt know how to, and were on call for more than hour, this new set of people also the same-- "why am i doing this job?' Left with leaking pipe, heavy smell in the basement. They came again after a day to fix the leak. However, One of the heating zone not working and hot water tank does not work. So currently only getting 5 gallon hot water that comes out of boiler capacity. Have been following up with Charlie for the last 3 days and no answer. Hope good sense prevail, will think about 400 he charged for a simple boiler service and come back. Will update if that happens. All this happened between 11/12 and 11/20. So Charlie doenst have excuse like the way he has blasted other reviews - "You should have told me earlier.." and also, I did try working out with him to fix this. In the meantime, my suggestion is to stay away from this company of one person with good past repute who doesnt work anymore and many of the crew who dont know what they are doing. read more

Updating: We had a professional technician who is trained in Buderus come over to do a full service and not only did he have to do a tuneup, there were three significant issues that Charlie's crew messed up. One they installed the wrong nozzle again!! Next the burner was filthy so they never actually cleaned it the second time they came .. and they failed to put the unit back together properly. Also I had to have a chimney guy come clean the mess you guys created. My chimney sleeve was only a year old and he said it looked like 12 years since it had been cleaned. Thank you BoilersRUs for costing me an extra over $600. Next time take the responsibility for what your guys messed up and not try to blame a "dirty chimney" or some other phantom problem. All I needed was a check up and cleaning. I suggest anyone who considers hiring BoilersRUs ask good questions and make sure he sends guys qualified for your job. read more

Boiler had stopped working (no hot water) and thought it was just because I had run out of oil. But the burner would not restart after the delivery so I called BoilersRUs and the guys were here in less than an hour. They found that the igniter was failing and were able to get the part and replace it quickly. They explained everything else they did in the tune-up/service and I am back in business with hot water. Young kid came out to service my oil burner. I just wanted an annual boiler tune up/service make sure it's clean and running good. He did what he called a mini service or something, was here less than 20 minutes. Few days after he was here my basement smelt very strong like fuel, found the oil filter leaking oil on the floor. Gus and the rest of the company know what they are doing. It's hard to find good honest service these days especially when you are working for the military and your other job as well. Charlie and Gus came to assess my boiler. I had just moved in few days prior. I wasn't home and my wife had to wait for them and they didn't try to take advantage or upsell or anything like that. Could not be happier with the prompt service that Charlie and his team provided. During a house inspection (in the course of selling our house) the inspector found that the boiler was leaking. Matt came that same night and diagnosed the problem and determined that I needed a new boiler. Charlie was very honest and insisted that I wait for the inspection report to confirm that boiler needed to be replaced (instead of repaired). Once confirmed, Charlie gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work.
