This is a great park you can spend all day at and there are no people around, just you, the rivers, the woods. I prefer places like this off the beaten path. No crowds. Kid Friendly & Pet Friendly, good for couples and families. HOWEVER, YOU WILL NEED TO BRING BOTTLED WATER, INSECT REPELLANT, TRASH BAGS, SUNSCREEN, SWIMSUIT, A COOLER WITH ICE, HAND SANITIZER, WET WIPES, BBQ SUPPLIES. The woods are awesome, my dog & I ran around on the trails in the woods, bring a change of clothes, preferably long sleeves and long pants because the mosquitos are unreal, but that is Alabama for you. Anywhere near the water always has bugs, and water is everywhere, so get used to it. The river is great, it is shallow and clear, kids can wade under adult supervision. Tons of shade from pine trees. Nice beach sand by the water, not too muddy. There is a rope swing someone set up. We went exploring under the bridge, pretty cool, lots of art and birds zipping in and out. Has Port-A-Potties, covered picnic awning with tables & benches and a single CHARCOAL BBQ GRILL. Plenty of flat, lever parking, lot is sand & gravel. Park closes at night. Only negative thing I have to say is too much trash in the woods from careless people, one of my biggest pet peeves is people polluting nature. Please bring trash bags, this park would be perfect without all the beer cans and bottles. read more
