I can toss his toy into the water, and he joyfully retrieves it every time. The park also has scenic trails and picnic benches, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful outing. Just a heads-up: the path down to the water can be a bit slippery and muddy, so wear sturdy shoes and skip your best outfit. Bug spray is also a must, especially if you visit during warmer months. I'd recommend going during off-peak hours for a more tranquil experience, but even when there are more people, everyone has been friendly, and it never feels overcrowded. Bohemian Park is not just a dog park--it's a great place to enjoy nature and relax. Gravel and dirt parking too btw.

The hiking trails are beginner and each one is 10 - 15 minutes. It's also a great place to ride a bike, there is a paved road with very little traffic. Along the walk path are benches and maps. And come on, it's the Great outdoors, bring your camera, Fido or Fefe. There's a wonderful nature Center and a very nice gift shop. Let's not forget the staff/volunteers are very friendly and last, but certainly not least, clean restrooms. So if you're in the area check out Five Rivers. Adventure awaits.

Do not let that deter you from visiting this park, all up and down The Gulf Coast, from Texas to Florida you will find that type of wild life, even on The East Coast all the way up to North Carolina. Nice boardwalk for a stroll with your doggo. I did not get a chance to travel the entire length of the boardwalk because I heard a lot of thunder, the sky was clear, so I left and within ten minutes it rained ( storms are common here, but usually brief, in fact it rains every afternoon in the summer). Several access points to the river for swimming. At the largest area, there's a big concrete platform with a ladder to climb up and jump off into the water. You can pay $5 per person to tube down the river, or rent a kayak. You can also kayak, canoe, and fish in the lakes. There is a large playground area for the kids, horse trails, trails to ride golf carts down (electric only, gas carts and ATVs not allowed there.) They do not allow alcohol there, so don't bring it. Camping is $30 per night for RVs. Not sure about tents, but the website will tell you. You can get day passes to go swim for the day.

We found this by searching for trails close to us. We have driven all around this in the past and…read morenever knew it existed. There aren't any signs for it leading you to it, and unfortunately there isn't an address, so you have to navigate to it from the map. There is street side parking with no organized parking lot at the trailhead; though there is a nearby parking lot or two. Disc golf is around the trail head. I don't know much about disc golf but there is a difficult shot across a gator infested pond. We enjoyed the hike. There are 1 mile, 2 mile and a 5k option. There are maps throughout the trails showing where to turn. It wasn't crowded, though there were a couple of off road bicyclists who didn't realize that they don't own the trail (and I bicycle several times a week). Part of the trail was flooded from recent rain, but otherwise it was quite an enjoyable experience.

I've spotted alligators, blue heron, turtles, lizards.. very cool! All the campsite hosts are friendly and our check-in was very easy and we were also greeted with welcoming service. We chose campsite number 479 right next to Mission Lake and the pedestrian bridge that takes you to the ocean. This campground is so clean, beautiful, and offers multiple bathrooms with showers and restrooms. The bathrooms are clean and the showers have enough space to shower and change. Each campsite I've seen has a dump station and water, which has come in handy. There's also Wi-Fi! There's also a restaurant on the campgrounds and tomorrow night we are going to listen to live music and have a few drinks. I've truly loved my stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone! We were only going to stay for four nights but we extended it to a week because we are having such a great time.

As a kid I loved trains. Any kind of train. The L&N tracks ran 500 yards behind our house and…read moreduring potato season, I'd see all sorts of strange engines, box cars and cabooses going by. Sometimes I'd stand near the tracks and wave at the engineers and they'd wave back. But probably the best thing that happened to me was when the General, the original Civil War-era train involved in the greatest train chase, came through town. I got to go aboard and look around and ooh and ahh as the rest of the townsfolk did. Well, the L&N now longer comes through. The tracks are all gone but in place is Alabama Trail, part of 1600 nationwide Rail Trails. No amenities such as bathrooms or water, just a gentle trail following the original tracks.
