Much of menu is grown on the working farm, or comes from the surrounding area of Leelanau. And the lettuce just tastes better. Farm to table also means the menu is ever changing. There are a couple of staples, kale ceasar, chicken torta, beans and broth, their farm board, and of course their home made corn nuts. While beans and broth is simple, our group loves it, homey and flavorful, with their perfect greens side salad. I have generally ordered whatever the fish dish offering is, and it's also been amazing. They also recently opened their market, a bit of an expanded market from the small shop inside the restaurant, as well as sandwiches and bakery items. They have a few small tables. The restaurant does not do reservations. It's usually warm when we visit (this year was an exception) so we don't mind the wait as the long yard is lovely, with seating and a drinks and snack counter.

My first time this year I had an excellent experience, with the beet salad, zucchini fritters, seasonal pasta, and chocolate mousse. Everything was delicious! The last time was not my favorite - I didn't love the risotto or seasonal toast this time, and the last of my sides arrived well after my meal was finished. Unfortunately the shop was also out of my favorite Kari Kari chili garlic crunch I usually stock up on here - hoping they will have it next time! Still a must try in the area, and I can't wait for my next visit.

I usually prefer tea bags; lecture me until my ears fall off but for I'm usually fine with sacrificing tea quality for the simplicity and convenience of a teabag. Light of Day teas, however, make me a believer in the magic of carefully blended, high quality tea. I used the Creamy Earl Grey tea to bribe myself to do the most mind-numbingly dense readings for my grad school courses, or for simply getting up and dressed for class on a grey winter morning. It's a true treat, and worth the high price. In addition to being absolutely delicious (black or with milk, sweetened or unsweetened), the tea and nearly all of the ingredients were grown at the Light of Day farm, which is certified biodynamic and right here in Michigan! Having originally tasted and fallen in love with Light of Day teas served on campus at the University of Michigan School of Public Health cafe, my friends and I made sure to visit the store during a trip up north. We felt like (grown) kids in a (healthy) candy shop -- there were so many kinds of tea, and they all sounded amazing! We all bought tins of tea for ourselves and as holiday gifts for friends/relatives, and also had a round of matcha shots, which were delicious. We strolled around the garden near the shop, but in warmer weather be sure to see the farm!

It was a little confusing at first since no one was around to guide us, but a kind staff member eventually helped. You pay after picking by Venmo, cash drop box, or at the bar. Just note that if you pay at the bar, tax is added. They had live music while we were there, the pizza smelled amazing, and the cider options at the bar were great. They also have a corn maze, which looked fun, though my husband chickened out thanks to Children of the Corn . Overall, it's a good family spot. Just plan your visit early for the best fruit-picking experience!

They ran out of pizza, so we were forced to order overpriced members mark appetizers straight from the frozen aisle of Sam's Club. The boneless buffalo chicken wings were advertised as eight pieces, but we got six wings, no ranch, and paid $16. This was more than a pizza was supposed to cost, but again we couldn't order a pizza if we wanted too. The overall atmosphere was cool, but there was not staff to keep the place clean. We had plates from previous customers at our table during our whole visit. The only thing keeping this from a one star review was the awesome band, Wax. They put on a fantastic show! The staff was also friendly enough, but the management problems are abundant and on display.
