What can I say? Tracy was super aggressive and rushed us through a tasting. It felt like a used car salesman working us for a commission. The flights were expensive and because she had another party coming, she forced us to take a flight we didn't want. She also took liberties by giving her staff a 25% tip despite being told 20% was what we wanted to give. The view was nice but the wine was not good. We all gritted our teeth and got through it but it was a wild ride that none of us really enjoyed. And don't fall for the Secret Cellar. She abandoned us down there and we had no idea what was expected of us. read more

This was the first visit I've had to Willow, and really enjoyed it. My friend had been there during the previous ownership. Willow may have the best view on Leelanau. The winery is adorable, and the patio is even better. Their spritzer on the patio, on a beautiful day, was perfect. Their service was standout, they took the time for small touches: brought water and cherry bbq local chips immediately, bought water bowls for dogs, and took photos of the group. Tracey, the owner, was fantastic! She was both personable and efficient. Willows wine list is short, so they do have room to grow. We had a great experience and would go back. read more

Subpar. The owner Tracy is entitled and it made us laugh uncontrollably. That was a bonus. The view was ok- nothing special. Wine was not very good and overpriced. Head to one of the many other wineries in the region and you will get better tasting wine and service. She "upgraded us to VIP" which was sitting on the patio. There was no one sitting on the patio. Rude! read more

The owner Tracy was terrible. We were there today with 10 of us with no reservations. She told us that if we didn't want the table there would be 10 more behind us. Super rude! Note: they do not have any sweet wine. Been coming to traverse city for the past 5 years - no one has ever made us feel so unwelcome. Go next door to Suttons bay ciders, nicest guy! read more

Came to Willow on a wine tour with a group of friends. Tracy and Rachel were so welcoming and gave us a background of the winery! The views were stunning as well. read more

This winery is absolutely wonderful! Tracy and Rachel were so welcoming and knowledgeable! We had a super warm welcome from Tracy the owner and had the pleasure of chatting with her for a little bit. The wine was so good, all dry wine that was some of the best I've had while doing winery tours in Traverse city! Their cherry wine is to die for, we bought a bottle and cannot wait to open it! The patio had one of the best views as well, I can't rave about this winery enough! We cannot wait to go back recommend this a must go stop to our friends! read more

If nothing else you have to come here for the most incredible views of Grand Traverse Bay! We had a glass of their Pinot noir which was very tasty. We considered this an added bonus! If in the area you have to stop by. read more

The owners are so warm and welcoming. They went above and beyond to personalize every customers experience and create memories that I will never forget. They took pictures of us in the vineyards, signed bottles for special occasions and the views are the best in the area. Highly recommend you visit this place!!!! read more

Wow! What an experience. The views are unmatched and you can't find better service. The owner Tracy met us at the door and walked us right in. The wine was fabulous and the service, ambience and views matched it. This is a must stop when exploring the wineries of Suttons bay! read more

Amazing service, beautiful view, and a great dog!Very good wine and service - loved the Chardonnay . Will definitely come again!

AMAZING experience. Tracy made our experience fantastic and went above and beyond to personalize the experience for our group! We absolutely will be going back in the future--one of the best wineries in the Midwest if you're looking for a personalized experience with incredible wine! read more

Top 5 winery in the Traverse City area because of the view, wine, and overall experience. The views from here are breathtaking and they have a huge hill with seating that overlooks the vineyard and the bay. The actual winery building is eclectic, cozy, relaxed and feels Italian rustic. The wine was delicious too! read more

Adorable ambiance. The wine tasting was affordable at $3 for a sweet OR dry flight, $1 additional tastes. Wine was pretty good but I didn't love it enough to spring for a bottle. Animal crackers for between tastes!! Fun merch selection. The parking situation is wretched if it's busy. Single lane in and NO TURNAROUND. read more

This place is amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and very jovial. The views cannot be beat. We're usually red wine (Pinot Noir) folks but didn't care for theirs. We tried their sweet whites and were pleasantly surprised, so much that we bought a bottle of their sweet Chardonnay. So glad we stopped by! I can only imagine the view in the fall! read more

We've been on many wine tours in the Traverse City, MI area and have great experiences most places. This is the 2nd time we've been to The Willow Vineyard and both times have experienced rude behavior from the owner and the wine maker. We thought it might be a fluke the 1st time around, but went back today and experienced the same behavior. Not extremely busy when we arrived and just got the cold shoulder treatment....and tried to ask questions about ice wine and got rebuked like we were just stupid! Will not visit this winery again and left without buying any wine! read more

Pretty standard northern Michigan winery. Perfectly fine just nothing exciting or memorable. Nice patio to sit and drink on a summer day.

I am going to attempt to review each of the nearly 40 wineries in the Grand Traverse area. In an effort to remain as objective as possible, I will be reviewing the wineries based on how well they live up to their vision of winemaking. Willow is a pretty straightforward place. It is small. They produce small quantities of high quality wine. They have what might be the best view of any winery in Leelanau county. One great thing about Willow is that it is a quick stop. I cannot imagine a situation, even on a busy day, when a visit here would take more than half an hour. If you need to sneak a quick winery into your tour, Willow is a great choice. Willow has about 6 wines at a given time and they separate them between dry and sweet flights. Everything I have tried here has been good, but one wine stands out that I will keep coming back for. The Pinot Noir. I was kind of on the fence about giving Willow five stars, but then I remembered the Pinot and knew I had no choice. It is hands down one of the best up here in price and quality. Too many producers over-oak their Pinot Noir, but not Willow. You will absolutely get all the yummy goodness of a cherry and berry fruit forward Pinot Noir in the style that should be standard for our area, but sadly is not. The view is to die for too. Simply amazing. For such a small producer, Willow really manages to have at least one wine that should be palatable to just about every taste. A great winery for sure. read more

This was one of the smaller wineries on our tour. The scenery was hands down the best! Cute little cottage in the midst of rolling hills, green meadows, gravel roads. When you first walk in, you are taken away with the candle smells. They sell candles here, wine (of course), dog food (random), glasses of wine hand-painted by the owners, 1/2 bottles of wine and magnums of wine. The tastings were a let down for me, I only tasted the two reds on the menu and was not really into either of them. My friend let me taste two of her whites and I was still not a fan. I paid about $1 per tasting. The location is cute and charming and the views amazing but that's all I can say about this place. read more

The view is lovely and makes it worth visiting, but this was just an okay tasting. We visited on a Saturday afternoon in October and it was freezing in the tasting room because they leave the doors wide open on both sides! The wines were also a bit pricey for the product, but still - it was worth stopping for the view! read more

They had only 4 wines to try which is why I'm giving them only 4 stars. The server was very friendly and the view was breath taking! My group liked the wines and purchased several. I also liked the big gray cat that seemed very at home in the tasting room! read more

I have to give this winery all of the stars for the absolutely beautiful view and setting. Tucked away off the road, you enter past a beautiful Willow tree before you come upon the quaint tasting room. Wonderful people and laid back feel! read more

This was by far the most beautiful stop on my recent Michigan winery tour. The views are absolutely stunning and the facility is charming. After taking in the gorgeous Michigan summer scenery, I headed inside for some wine. I loved seeing the pet cat just curled up and napping in here - quite cozy. The wines were quite tasty. I don't remember the real specifics of the wine as this was the forth winery we hit, but I did enjoy them. This is definitely a spot to see! read more

There are several wineries in the immediate area, and we enjoy each of them for different reasons. It's just that when we walk into the Willow tasting room, we always feel as if we've just "popped in" to visit a friend. Charming tasting room ... Absolutely amazing view ... Quality wines ... Warm, friendly & funny wine makers ... Willow is one of our favorite stops when we make it up to Traverse Bay / Leelanau. I am not a big fan of the "fruit wines" which are everywhere in Michigan. I'll try one here & maybe one there, but overall I go to taste the drier wines. So when I'm at a winery with 5 sweet fruit wines and 4 drier wines - I'm only tasting the drier (or as I refer to as "more serious") wines ... Chardonay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Blush, Merlot, Cab, and the likes. These are the types of wine that Willow focuses on. For those who aren't aware - Michigan wines are different from the Californian wines that majority of people are most familiar with (or Australian these days). Don't let "what you are used to" cloud your mind when tasting Michigan vintners' Pinot, Merlot, Cab Franc, Meritage, etc etc. There are some delightful things going on in Michigan. read more

Cute, small place with some striking views of the bay. The wines tastings are all free, and they only had 4 available to taste. They are one of the smallest wineries in the area. I wasn't sold or described any of the wines, and that is OK. 3 stars for the view, 1 star for the wine. I just didn't love any of them. read more

It's worth coming to this winery for the gorgeous views and amazing grounds. In fact, it looks exactly like you think a winery should -- wild clumps of flowers, lavender growing against the little cottage like tasting room, and even a cute gray cat wandering around the grape vines. Past the vines you get a view of the bay -- positively lovely. The wine itself is no great shakes -- and it's pricier than a lot of other local spots, particularly when you take into account that it's only so-so. The lady pouring wasn't the friendliest, but maybe it was an off day. It was still worth it for the views. read more

Amazing view, great place to chill and relax, nothing special about the wines or the tasting experience/interaction.

Beautiful place ruined by super rude people serving the wine. Also the pours are super small. Wine so-so - hard to tell when you get a thimble full:) read more

People are super rude! Rented the house across the street from them, stop by 10 minutes before 6 (closing time)and they told us to leave because it was also most time to close!! Met us at the door with at least 50 people in their establishment. Sorry I'm a small business owner from Michigan and would never treat a potential customer like that !! Especially before my posted hours of operation! read more

Cute little tasting room with an amazing view of the local wineries. The owners were friendly and the tastings were free-- I'll be back!

I visited Willow Vineyards as one of the stops during our graduate school winery tour. We had a free wine tasting there with 5 pre-selected wines. I've never been much of a wine expert but their wines were on the lighter side, which I prefer. It was a good start to our tour. Compared to the other wineries, Willow Vineyards had a more personal touch to it. I didn't feel like a number. I felt like part of the family and was attended to as such. The winery had the best location during our trip by far! It was summer time when we visited and I highly recommend making a trip around this time of the year. The Michigan weather is beautiful and the Willow Vineyards location is prime for viewing the bay. A lovely place! read more

It has beautiful views. You won't be disappointed with the scenery. You can drink in the beauty, but drinking in the wine is another matter. You have to pay for a tasting. I can now understand why they charge for tasting. The wine was not good at all. We did not buy any wine from here. Granted I'm used to wines like Domaine Berrian and Fenn Valley that have superb wines that I prefer. It's all a matter of taste and it is not my preference. So come here for the views and pictures, but don't expect much of the wine. There are wineries around the area with much better wine. read more

Excellent place with friendly people who never stop smiling. Oh yea and the wines are wonderful!!!!!

This is a wonderful place and a must visit. There wines are very good which is just an added bonus. The quality of the overall experience is what is really superb. When you drive up there driveway to the tasting room you feel like you just pulled into someones home driveway. The tasting room is very nicely landscaped with great views of the Traverse Bay. The couple that runs the vineyard is there to serve you. You do not feel at all like a stranger but as another friend of there that stopped in to say hello. They only have 4 wine types but all of them are very good. I think my favorite part of visiting Willow is just how friendly it is and how you don't feel like a visitor like you do at all the rest of the many vineyards on the peninsula. It is very nice that the owners are the ones who are working the counter serving you wine and that the conversations between you and them can range from anything with wine, to music, to motorcycles, to moving to new cities and trying new experiences. its a must visit!!! read more
