I have been meaning to write this review because I believe future customers should know what to expect, particularly when dealing with the owner, Elena. During the booking process, Elena came across as sweet, caring, informative, and down-to-earth. However, once we signed the contract and informed her that we planned to use our own trusted vendors--professionals we have worked with successfully for multiple family events--the experience began to change. Some of the issues we encountered included: 1. Our vendors were treated as if they were her subordinates rather than independent professionals hired by us. 2. The seating layout was set up incorrectly despite reviewing and confirming the arrangement with her beforehand. 3. Her interactions with our guests were often rude, loud, and unprofessional. She made it very clear that she was the owner of the property and expected everyone to know it. 4. While her staff was serving guests, I requested that ice water be provided. The response I received was, "You didn't pay for it, haha," followed by, "No, we're not going to do it." 5. Elena's camera crew and photographer frequently overshadowed and interfered with our own photography team. The most disappointing part is that the venue itself is beautiful. The ranch is stunning and creates a wonderful atmosphere for special events. Unfortunately, the overall experience was negatively impacted by the owner's behavior. One incident that particularly stood out involved a guest who brought a bottle of whiskey, unaware of the venue's policies. Before even greeting us, Elena approached the table, took the bottle directly from the guest's wife's hands, and began scolding them as if they were children. This couple are successful professionals in their late 40s and deserved to be treated with courtesy and respect. Thankfully, my daughter was unaware of most of what transpired and was able to enjoy her special day. However, many of our guests commented afterward on how rude and unprofessional Elena was throughout the event. If you choose to book this venue, understand that you are hosting your event in someone's home and will be subject to the owner's rules and management style. We purchased tickets thru Groupon which included $15 to use towards activities on the farm and you can always purchase more tickets onsite. Our group did a lil of everything , petting zoo, archery, maze, pumpkin decorating, pony riding. They have a small food court with 2-3 food vendors. The lady with the tacos and pupusas is so nice and friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. The hot dogs are yummy with an amazing snap to them. There was a small family business selling fresh sourdough as well so we had to pick some up. Yes the bathrooms are port a potties but they are clean. Internet is choppy as expected up on a mountain and actually forced everyone to be present and enjoy time together rather than being on our phones posting. A Peaceful & Therapeutic Solo Adventure in the Hollywood Hills!…read more Sometimes the best experiences are the ones you don't plan! I had nothing scheduled for the day, wanted to get out of the house, and decided to do something different. That's when I came across Sunset Ranch Hollywood. A horseback ride through the Hollywood Hills with beautiful views overlooking Los Angeles sounded perfect! I booked it last minute for $75 for a one-hour guided ride, and I'm so glad I did. The best part? I went completely SOLO! I've always enjoyed doing things on my own, and this was no exception. I didn't need to coordinate plans or wait for someone to join me. I simply booked my reservation and showed up. Being surrounded by nature, enjoying the scenery, and getting away from the everyday noise made this experience incredibly peaceful and therapeutic. Going alone didn't take anything away from the experience. If anything, I appreciated it even more. A few things worth knowing before you go: Getting There & Parking: The directions provided are pretty detailed. Once you reach the end of the street, press the button at the gate for entry. From there, you'll drive up a steep, narrow road with limited space for cars passing in opposite directions. Parking is FREE and available along the right side of the hill and in a couple of dirt areas. Park carefully and expect an uphill walk to the ranch entrance. If it's hot outside, that walk might give you a little workout! Check-In & Horseback Riding: You'll need to sign a waiver before participating. Once you arrive, check in at the front with your reservation and wait to be assigned to your group. Helmets are required throughout the ride. The staff was incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. They assist you with getting on and off your horse and provide a quick refresher on steering before heading out. Although I arrived alone, the ride is done in a group with a guide, so being a solo visitor wasn't an issue at all. The Trail & Views: The ride lasts approximately one hour at a comfortable, steady pace. The horses are trained to follow one another, and a guide accompanies the group. The scenery is absolutely beautiful! However, if you're afraid of heights, be prepared. Some sections of the trail are pretty narrow, with steep hillsides and significant drop-offs. I'm not going to lie, there were moments when I felt a little nervous looking down! I definitely felt more comfortable staying toward the inside of the trail. You follow the trail uphill, turn around at a designated point, and return along the same route. What to Bring: Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes because it's dusty! Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and water. Phones and cameras are allowed, but selfie sticks, tripods, and similar accessories are not. The weather was in the mid-70s during my visit, which made the ride even more enjoyable. Tips & Extras: I didn't notice any snacks available, and I didn't check whether restrooms were provided. I would definitely recommend tipping your guide. The employees work hard, and everyone I encountered was genuinely nice and helpful. Overall, I absolutely loved this experience! What started as a spontaneous decision turned into a beautiful afternoon in the Hollywood Hills. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, the incredible views, and the opportunity to experience something different without having to travel far. I think people sometimes assume that doing activities alone means you're lonely, but that's not always the case. I genuinely enjoy my own company, and experiences like this remind me that I don't need someone beside me to have a wonderful time. Would I do it again? Absolutely! I'd happily return solo or bring someone along next time. Whether you're planning a date, an outing with friends, or simply looking for something enjoyable to do on your own, I definitely recommend giving Sunset Ranch Hollywood a try. I can remember being a kid and driving up to the Ranch from the Valley for Pumpkins, Pony Rides and of course the Corn Maze. Now, I'm a Mommy and it's where I've taken my son for the past two years (he's two) to collect Pumpkins and ride the Choo Choo. I love it here. Lombardi Ranch is a fun and family friendy atmosphere with live music and community bake sales and craft fairs. This is the kind of place you can still let your kiddo run around without the impending doom feeling that you're going to have to stab someone when they look sideways at your monkey. While it does cost a few bucks to partake in their outsourced activities, I just think being outside and getting to run around chasing my son is the best thing ever...you can catch the family that runs the ranch helping out with the fresh veggies stand (all grown on property) and driving the train through the Scare Crow Field. As a local SCV Mommy, I experienced the fires last year and almost lost my own home to the flames on the ridge...so seeing that Lombardi Ranch is back this year inspite of their own personal losses in the Buckweed Fire, just kind of makes me all warm and fuzzy and I don't mind spending the extra cash on throwing my monkey on the trian or walking through the amazing Maze.
