I have been to Boeshreen twice now and I definitely plan on going back. I love to eat falafel and baba ganoush. On my first visit that's what I had, with pita bread of course. The second time I only had baba ganoush. But the second time I went with a few coworkers. They branched and got other items. Dishes ranged from salads to kabobs to sandwiches. I only had baba ganoush the second time around. I was in heaven. There are tons more options to try, so i will definitely be back. I would defiantly recommend giving it a try. read more

They have changed the menu since we were last here...It's more fast foodie.? We ordered anyways. Tables were sticky and not very clean in there. But food was okay. My lamb gyro was good but smaller then expected. Cheese fries were just a ton of cheese sauce dumped on top of fries. Loved the pistachio baklava! I wish I could give more than five stars. I love this place. The food is phenomenal and the staff is great. They let you try samples from the hot bar on the nights that they serve authentic Libyan food and they are very patient with those who are new to the cuisine. They will answer any questions you have and are great at describing the dishes to their patrons. From the hot bar, only available Thursday through Saturday from 3 to close, the béchamel is wonderful. My personal favorite is kabsa (rice mixed with spices and shredded chicken) topped with a chicken quarter. The vegetable stew (a mix of chick peas, onions, and tomatoes) is also great and can be served with the kabsa at no additional charge. Their "standard" fare of phillys and sandwiches are also great, and the lamb philly is unique enough to differentiate them from the droves of other philly joints in town. Back again for a wonderful lunch. Philly cheese steak , falafel and hummus fed two of us for lunch. The young man that served us was very polite, and checked up on us from time to time, refilling our drinks. He also offered us some wonderful complimentary almond cookies. I have enjoyed so much food from this restaurant. The stuffed grape leaves and hummus with pita are very good and so classic. The gyros are A M A Z I N G, and employees are so accommodating with extra sauces and things. I would say, though, that the environment leaves something to be desired. The last time we ate here (the one of two times we have eaten instead of ordered to go), the space was not clean. We moved from one table to the next because there were lots of flies, and when we moved to the other space, there was food stuck between two of the joined tables. Once we cleaned the table and our food came, an employee stepped outside to smoke and left the door propped, filling the space with the smell of cigarettes. I'm not a smoker, and it's no longer the 90s, so the smell of cigarettes in a dining setting made me uncomfortable. It may not matter to others. I hope this is remedied for future customers who do care. All of this being said, I will still continue to buy and eat wonderful food from here, just taking out! read more

Mine came with 5 wings that were crispy and very tasty (you get to pick your wing flavor from 25 options). My chicken gyro was huge and filling. We went there just to eat Baklava. When we entered, it smell good . So I ordered falafel plate. Food was very average. Falafel was blend. Even sauces with falafel plate did not rise to occasion. What a nice little spot on Decker. There is a cafe in the front and a cafeteria style area in the back. The Libyan/Mediterranean food was authentic, fresh, and delicious at completely affordable prices. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the vegetable plate with hummus, babaganoush, and tabouli with crispy falafels and very warm pita bread. Also ordered the cous cous with chickpeas and added a lamb shank. Both dishes were excellent. The bakery in the front has an array of pastries that all were very tasty. The star of the show was the creme baklava which was incredible. My colleagues and I ate here for lunch. The food was good overall. I had the chicken over rice lunch special with soup and salad for $7.99. Between the three dishes, there was plenty of food. My only advice to management is to be a bit more generous with the meat portion; there was only about a quarter of a chicken on the bed of rice. I still had half my rice left after eating the chicken with rice. We arrived the around 11:30am. The place was empty and we were served fairly quickly. A few others had come by the time we left. The establishment is new, but I think they will get a lot busier over time as word of mouth gets out. The inside is quite nice and not what we expected judging by the appearance on the outside. Absolutely disgusting venue with food that looks like it's been sitting in warmers all day. Wife picked it out based on the reviews and stars. We pulled in and I thought she got it wrong as it looked like it was an abandoned location. Grass over grown and outside appearances looked less that appealing. So I go in to confirm, it was a bit warm, it smelled middle eastern and the only server said they did have 2 high chairs. We go in, the high chairs are filthy, we clean them and then notices one was broken to the point of falling apart. Then the temps inside started to become more noticeable as in no A/C running, I'd guess pushing 80 degrees. It's June, in SC, so it's like 95 degrees and high humidity. Then the wife saw the food window and was turned off to include the multitude of flies in our face. That was the last straw and we walked out. Outside looks like a disaster. Inside not much better. I love this place! It has a great location for me since I live in the North East and am not a fan of driving to eat at certain places. We ordered the falafel sandwich and onion rings. The falafel were great, crispy and flavorful. The sandwich was actually perfectly portioned. We dissected it since we were splitting it and I can't think of a better way to eat it to be honest. The onion rings were light and crispy, none of the heavy beer battered onion rings. They were a bit oily but a few napkins work that out. We also ordered grape leaves to go and they were great! We ate them on the way to Charleston ; they were flavorful, also perfectly stuffed/rolled and are my favorite. We also ordered a dessert to go which I didn't try but my friends raved about it. The slightly rundown location had me skeptical at first, but don't be fooled! This place serves the most kick-ass food with the most incredible flavor! The Falafel Plate was delicious. The salad was fresh, the pita bread was delightfully warm and soft, and the falafels were cooked perfectly-- wonderful crispness on the outside, rich flavor-packed goodness on the inside. I loved every bite. My mom ordered the Kabsa with the Vegetables Sauce and Onions and Chickpeas Sauce, and the flavors were absolutely heavenly as well. I don't think you can go wrong with this restaurant. Everything is delicious. Try something new and there's no doubt that you'll be blown away. If you're feeling particularly adventurous (and sweet-toothed) you can go for their desserts! We tried the Italian Pastry and the Kunafa w/ Walnut. Both were quite sweet and satisfying. The Pastry had a crispy, sugar-dusted outside, and a softer inside tanged just slightly with citrus. The Kunafa was definitely the more adventurous option: crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, it's made completely out of small, thin noodles woven together around a crunchy walnutty inside. Very, very sweet. All in all, the flavors that this place offers are so diverse yet all so dang GOOD. The prices are completely affordable too! Since changing hands, Boeshreen has been compressed, still somewhat existing as a sub-menu of Sami's Deli but with many of their fantastic offerings gone. The first few weeks after they re-opened it was shakey; I didn't like eating on disposable plates. Ceramic has returned. The lunch special is still there. Gyros are still there. There are new things on the menu, but they are typical deli items that I don't really care about ordering from what used to be the most fantastic Mediterranean restaurant in town. Fresh, minty tabbouli. Smoky, tahini-laced baba ghanoush. Dense little nuggets of parsley seasoned falafel; crisp on the outside and moist inside, which is rare to encounter. Perfectly balanced samosas. Already obsessed after one visit. It's a vegetarian's paradise, although many of the dishes are meat (which I'm told is halal). Might be the best food I've had in the midlands. Doesn't look like much from the outside (nor inside), but clean inside and friendly service. The baklava wasn't the best I've had, but was still very good and not too sweet like they can often be. Got a takeout menu, which says they do catering too. I had the lunch special which came with either beef or chicken cooked with onions and peppers over rice, a salad, soup and a drink for $8.99. It also included some pita bread. This meal could definitely feed 2-3 people! I had the chicken which was tasty and spiced nicely. The rice was on point. For my soup, I had s choice between lentil or Libyan and chose the Libyan. Amazing place. I believe it is family owned? The owners and workers here are so kind. The food is amazing, and very good value. I used to come ever nearly every week after school with friends. The atmosphere is very family friendly and open, with families and couples and friends openly chatting and kids running around, enjoying themselves. Okay, this spot has a lot of great potential and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for it to stick around, so I'm going to be detailed in our joint opinions and suggestions. Coffee and bakery area have a wonderful vibe going on. We were very warmly greeted by the young man at the bakery counter who could tell we were new. My PSL was excellent. Mildly spiced, perfectly sweet, with a fantastic creamy foam. Their bakery selections looked delicious. We stopped in for lunch, and there were a few people in the coffee area. My husband got the burger combo and I got the gyro combo. I'm not sure why they have American food on the menu, because if the burger he had was standard for them, then they need a lot of work or to just get rid of the American basics. It was tiny and greasy. The menu referred to the burger as "big and juicy". Um...no. It might have been 2 ounces of greasy beef. The fries were hot, and cooked and seasoned well, but again, just basic frozen crinkle cut. Meh. However, my lamb gyro was delicious. The meat was preformed gyro style, hot, generously sized with a reasonable amount of fresh sauce and some veggies and feta. I'd love to see more onion, tomatoes, lettuce and some kalamatas on it, but as it was, it was very good. The wrap was soft, hot, pillowy, and fresh. I suspect their Mediterranean dishes are outstanding, and their American staples just exist to fill a void that they imagine they have (they don't). They don't need the American stuff...focus on the real food. Some additional small notes that may help them stick around: Have real brewed tea (not the Nestea stuff I had at lunch) and real glasses (we ate lunch...maybe they have non-disposable adult size cups at dinner?). Heck, maybe even some wonderful fresh brewed tea with mint over ice would be fantastic and keep with the Mediterranean food menu. Make sure to bring drinks and silverware to the table quickly, rather than after the meal is served. Also, there was some kind of music or radio blaring but it wasn't coming from the speaker system, and it was not pleasant. It wasn't loud...it was almost like it was coming from the kitchen. Also, pick one decorative style, preferably the one that is in the coffee/bakery area. That area is rich, warm, Mediterranean, woodsy and welcoming. Keep it going over to the deli/restaurant section, which currently has an amusement park feel to it. So, if they can get their act down pat and smooth out some rough edges, they will quickly become a favorite stop! read more

This is my FAVORITE place in Columbia to go for Gyros. Delicious and affordable. Coming from the DC area where there is a lot of international cuisine, this is the most authentic tasting meal I have had in awhile. I find myself coming back here again and again. I deducted one star for their interior layout which I found to be confusing when I first started eating here. Having a slightly more formal, sit-down dining area could benefit them in my personal opinion. read more
