I'm so thankful to have found Franchesca here in Alpine. I relocated here from Downtown and was hesitant to find all new "people"...I actually continued to drive downtown for years to see someone I knew and trusted for massage. Finally I decided to get practical and try someone local - I'm so glad I did. I have experienced different types of massage therapy, cupping, acupuncture, etc all over the world and Franchesca is as good a practitioner as anywhere I've been, at any price. She is thoughtful, really listens to your concerns, and is just a great person to spend the time with. She has worked wonders with the back and shoulder pain I've picked up working from a non-ergonomic home office and helped with some other chronic issues as well. I noticed there have been comments about scheduling - yes, she is super popular for good reason! But if you're a regular client and you schedule in advance I haven't found it to take any longer than anywhere else. I live in National City, so I drove 30 minutes and 30 miles. SO WORTH IT. She's got a cute and very clean massage studio & I felt relaxed as soon as I walked in. She's super professional and listened to all of my requests. She gently worked out the tightness and knots in my body- I've had a massage before where it did not feel good, so I appreciated that. It was warm, I was relaxed and she worked on pretty much inch of my body. It was perfect. I highly recommend her, especially with her amazing prices! I had a massage by Franchesca at Descanso Wellness. The massage lasted an hour and included cupping. I had never had a massage before nor had I been cupped. That being said, I felt and still feel immensely better than I did before the massage. I took a spill on a run and had hurt my knee. Franchesca cupped my knee and the pain that I was feeling for the past MONTH was COMPLETELY gone! It has not come back to bother me since. Disclaimer: I did not get a massage. This review is soley based on attempting to schedule, and what happened when I went in for my appointment. I contacted Franchesca about getting a massage towards the beginning of the month. She told me she was booked two week out, so if you're a prospective new patient, keep that in mind. She wanted me to text her to set an appointment. I am one of those rare people who choose not to have a cellphone, so I informed her the scheduling needed to be over email. For some reason that caused a delay of three days in scheduling the appointment. Ok, not everyone likes email, but if you have one, and you're a business, seems like the professional thing to do is cater to your customers right? But here's where the one star really comes in. I show up for the appointment, maybe a minute or so early, and find a locked door with a do-not-disturb sign. I wait for a little while, then knock, not too loudly as it's my first time, and not sure what the procedure is. I hear voices inside, but no response. Figure the last appointment just ran over, so I wait. About 15 minutes after the hour I knock again, this time louder. Seems odd to me I never got a response on the first knock, as she knows I'm a new customer. But again, no response, at all. At this point I can only assume she double booked me, and is ignoring me. So I left. This is probably the worst experience I've ever had as a new customer for a business. I can only conclude Franchesca is not very interested in new patients, and does not have much business experience, as she seems to lack even the most common professional courtesies. Unless you're an existing customer, stay away! Sun Massage is practically next door, and won't waste your time like Franchesca does. She was kind and knowledgeable, her place was cozy and clean, and she gave me a customized massage which also incorporated some cupping. I've been seeing Franchesca for massages for three years now. I am so glad she now has her own healing room. It has been such a relief, knowing she is going to be able to work on me.
