I signed up for the 4X a year Dexa scans and have had two so far. It is quick, very reasonable, and simple to do. If you aren't familiar, a dexa scan tells you your weight, body composition including visceral organ fat, bone density, and lean body mass. It is the most accurate way to measure progress if you are trying to increase lean muscle or bone density. I go to the Irvine mobile spot and they have been on time for one and running 10 minutes behind on my second. They communicated the time they were running behind. BEWARE I found bodyspec online through research and gave it a shot as I'm on a health journey. Finding a find wasn't too challenging but that was where the fun stopped. Upon arrival because they had booked so many back to backs I had to wait outside for a bit. There were no facilities. Luckily because I had time to burn, I walked and happened upon a restroom. When I was able to start my appointment, little to no verification was done to ensure I actually held the appointment. The machine being used was very worn out with cracks and big wear marks on the areas where people were laying. Nothing makes you feel more sterile than laying down on something so worn out you can see what is equivalent to chalk outlines on a dexa scanner. When I asked the last time the machine had been calibrated (out of sheer curiosity) the tech said he didn't know. Sounds good. But by far the worst part about this experience was after I left. I had this scan months ago and I'm still getting spammed constantly with their ads, spam emails and pings. You could be on any online platform just getting bombarded by unwanted ads. YouTube ads, instagram, all over your gmail. I would not be surprised if they are selling all their customers information. BEWARE! The price is good but the punishment is cruel and unusual. This place is no good for that reason. Avoid it at all costs. It's not at all worth it. read more

For those who don't know, a DEXA scan is the gold standard in body composition, using xray technology to detect fat, bone and lean body mass. BodySpec's new physical location in North Orange County is a welcome addition for those of us seeking ways to accurately assess our health and to assist in making improvements. They have several mobile van scanners, but in my opinion, I find consistency in using the same machine that hasn't been transported all over the bumpy roads. I am absolutely THRILLED that this location has not one, but TWO machines! No waiting when you arrive for your appointment and in and out in less than 10 minutes. I know BodySpec has a bigger presence in LA county, and that honestly surprises me, given how health and fitness minded much of OC is. My suggestion would be to target locations in South Orange County, particularly near some of the more upscale gyms such as Equinox, Lifetime, Renaissance Club Sport, etc. It is affordable, and the techs are always friendly. Results show up in my account within 30 minutes and I love how their reports provide some insight into the numbers plus tips on how to improve. I been working out regularly for the last almost 3 years, my body scale at home still has my body fat at obese, and for my height and weight, my bmi is over 28. So I saw an ad for a body scan. Checked yelp and found this place had good reviews, price was not bad. scheduled and paid online. Showed up fifteen minutes early. Technician was polite and friendly, explained the procedures, asked about questions, I might have, did the scan, fast, it only lasts a few minutes. Told me I would have an email with results in a few minutes. Results came quick checked it out, body-fat was actually in the average range. And compared to others in my age range, I am in the lowest 41% of people for body-fat and lean mass is higher then 84% of the people. So it was nice to know I am in better shape then my scale tells me. I am working on diet and a little more muscle work and will be back to check it again in a few months. Just had my first DEXA BodySpec scan here this morning! I did my intake forms prior online and arrived 1 min past my appointment time (sorry!) Despite that, I was immediately taken to the room with the DEXA machine and taught expeditiously how to lay on the machine and the scan started.
