If you want to track osteoperosis or bone density data, just go to any other imaging center like ultrasound or MRI locations, and ask for an out of pocket price. They will be only marginally more expensive than this, yet be medically useful with the doctors. My doctor wasn't able to extrapolate much out of the report generated by BodySpec besides what he can already gather visually and with regular checkup data. I decided to get the membership, which allows for me to get scans for about $35 each, in comparison to the $54+ single scan option. The staff is always super friend, and makes sure to check with you to make sure that you understand the process, regardless of whether it is your first time getting a scan or you're a regular. The scan results are typically emailed to you or are accessible on the website within the hour. They are accurate. It is recommended that you do not workout or eat before getting scanned. I got a dexa scan a couple weeks ago in one of their mobile vans that was parked near where I live in Hollywood. The experience was fine, however, I left my ring in the van when I took off some of my jewelry for the scan. I realized nearly immediately, called the service line, and was told that the van had already moved locations and my ring would be brought back to one of the two main locations. Since I don't have a car, I asked if they could either ship the ring to my house or hand it off to an Uber delivery. I offered to pay for both. After numerous phone calls I was told they couldn't do that due to liability concerns. However, they continued to pressure me to pick it up ASAP since they "aren't liable for anything left at their facilities", meaning they're not liable if it gets misplaced in their offices. BUT they are liable if it gets lost in transit? The entire thing was extremely inconvenient and costly for me since their main locations were super far from me. I spent $60 on Ubers and lost 1hr of my time, when the entire issue could've been solved if they would have just let me pay for shipping or Uber courier services. I'm very irritated and probably won't go back for this reason. read more

This is for the physical location in Culver City. I have not used the mobile van yet. Pros: 1. This is an amazing way to get specific data about your health. Instead of just one number that estimates your percentage of fat or lean muscle, the report gives detailed information and an illustration of where you have more fat or muscle around your skeleton, including visceral vs subcutaneous fat. 2. The scan and report also provide your resting metabolic rate (RMR) so that you know your calorie target for losing weight. I thought I'd have to pay for a separate scan elsewhere to get this, and was pleasantly surprised to receive this bonus data. 3. The scan is quick (~7 minutes) and much easier than other types of scans I've had (e.g. MRI, CT, etc.). 4. The overall process was pretty quick to get in and out... not much paperwork and no sales pressure while I was there. 5. So far the people I've spoken to are friendly. Cons: 1. It's hard for me to get out West to Culver City. I see different mobile locations but there are few dates/times and they are months into the future. I've been trying to do this for months and finally just had to go to Culver City. 2. I had a mobile appointment that was canceled last minute, which was frustrating by itself, but on top of that, then there were no more appointments so I had to wait another 2 months to find a slot. 3. The subscription is frustrating. I bought the monthly plan and it said I won't get my next credit until next month. However, many of the locations have no availability for 3-6 months out so by next month it will be even further. The only way to actually get a reservation each month is to book them now, but then it wants me to "renew early" and pay for it now; I don't mind that part, but after booking and paying for the next 6 sessions/months, it still says it will charge me automatically next month (and give me another scan credit I don't need that month). It should know that I renewed early and/or the availability issue needs to be solved. I'm hoping this is just growing pains and I hope this improves as they scale up, but it's currently a pain point. read more
