Theres a quiet boat and a talking boat and my group tried the hot tubs and pools in both. It's very relaxing and I'm glad we went but I do wish there was an area where taking photos was okay so I could have taken some photos with my friends for memories. All in all I'd go back but do NOT forget flip flops because I went without and it was very very painful walking around on all of the mats between ships and I didn't want to pay $30 for a pair of flip flops. The restaurant could use some more vegan friendly options, but they had a gluten free menu which was nice for our friend that was Celiac. The portions were very small though so I left still hungry.

The fact that this spa is on a boat and half of it was outdoors was the appeal! So we booked just the water circuit (no extras, just saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs) to see if this was even something we'd like. Turns out the December visit was the way to go! It wasn't packed at all, and turns out that sitting in a hot tub while the snow falls on your face is actually a top ten life experience. It was cold as heck out, mind you, but somehow you never feel chilly when you're going in and out of saunas and hot tubs. I did wish some of the relaxation rooms were a bit warmer, or there was an ability to swap out a soaking towel at some point, but I was never uncomfortable. Everything was clean and people around us were respectful. I loved the no phone policy and definitely chilled out to staring into this strangely brutalist bay. David Lynch relaxation vibes. The best was the floor where you could sit in a porthole window -- only wish we had discovered it earlier! I would totally come back here and check out some of their other offerings. Dunno, might even aim for a winter trip again because it was just that nice!

I'm not new to massages, in fact I love them and make a point of going at least 5 time a year usually. I enjoyed my massage here with Simona. She was tough in the areas that needed it and released some of the tension I was feeling. It's a cute, small "spa" in the old port. I wish the entrance space was larger and there was parking included. The hammam part is small and would feel cramped for more than 2 people. They bring you tea at the end which I thought was a cute touch. Enjoyed my experience and would go again!

I was in a desperate need for some self-love and I was treated to a 90 minute Hot Stone Massage and an advanced facial. The combination of the massage and facial was just the perfect treat. The Hot Stone was soothing and relaxing. 60 minutes would have been too short, 90 minutes is just the perfect amount of time for it. During the facial, the aesthetician dedicated good part of the time taking out some of the blackheads on my face. After the facial, my skin felt plump and glowing. Recommend this spa, anyone looking to take 2-3 hours off their day to pamper themselves.

Every corner brings another opportunity to find your ideal zen: lying, sitting or standing. Cold, cool, warm or hot. Fire or water. Quite and calm or full sensory. I was absolutely shocked at the number of areas. Each time I thought I'd found my "ideal," I found another I liked even more. It was very peaceful and, for the most part, other patrons respected the "speak quietly" signs across the spa. I received a massage (it was less than ideal and I'll purchase the day pass instead, next time--hence the one star deduction). To check in for the massage, you simply go to the waiting area and wait for your name to be called. No check in, but make sure to arrive early to complete your health questionnaire! When I finished the massage, I enjoyed lunch in the bistro, reasonably priced, though they weren't particularly friendly at the counter, and then reclaimed my zen on a hammock overlooking the river. By this time it had become significantly busier but there was still plenty of room and seating available. A few tips: --$10 gets you robe and towel rental. You can bring your own and avoid the charge --bring flip flops or slider shoes --showers are available, but you'll want to bring your own shampoo and a rag --you receive a bracelet that opens and locks your locker, so feel free to bring that backpack! --the bistro isn't the only place for food or drink... smaller bites and drinks are available from the food trailer near the River --robes in the bistro are acceptable! Enjoy!

This place was filled with so many saunas and pools and activities, I actually regretted only getting the half day pass. It's definitely worth it to spend the whole day here. Food was very good for spa food and very French focused. The blueberry pastry was a highlight for me! And the soup was absolutely delicious. I do wish the locker room area was as nice as the rest of the facilities but this spa experience was truly one of a kind.

My only regret was at the last minute I forgot to pack my bathing suit, so I had to buy one at their reception. (They provide robes and towels, but it's also Bring Your Own Flip Flops.) Note - The morning ticket is only for 3 hours, so you might consider the full day ticket. About the facilities, Balnea is located at the head of a lake within a nature reserve. Most of the spa experiences direct your view to the placid lake ensconced in surrounding forrest. The exception include certain enclosed spaces intended to cut you off visual from any distractions, like the Grotto sauna, Maroccon Salon with cocoon beds and reading space, nature cinema that can be enjoyed with or without audio, the aquarium room, as well as the eucalyptus steam room and sauna. Most other enclosed spaces, including saunas, have picture windows facing the lake. One unusual view I'd recommend checking out includes the awesome wooden nonagon cone beds facing deep into the forrest. The spaces are divided into whispering spaces and strictly enforced zones of silence. (In a very Big Brother moment, I was reprimanded twice by staff for whispering to my family even when no one else was in earshot.) Given that, considering cameras and phones are not allowed, Balnea has really structured the experience to ensure you focus on relaxing and personal wellness. Note - 3 hours is a good time to cover many of the spaces, like a tasting menu, but you may want to splurge on the nominal extra for a full day not to be rushed. Beyond the wooden cone bed, my favorite experiences there included: + The heated Infinity pool that had jets not only for the back but also feet and legs allowing me to soothe my muscles; + The steam room with eucalyptus; + The sauna by the lake and super hot sauna in the building; + The heated pool with waterfall and whirlpool jets; + The cocoon bed in the Moroccan Salon; + The floating beds on the lake, enabling me to listen to the water lightly splashing; and + The fire pit with (provided) marshmallows for roasting! Balnea calls itself a Nordic Spa. Having lived for years in Finland, there is nothing I experienced like this there although there may be so today. No sauna I was in had windows and we always went naked! That being said, Balnea is a fantastic experience. (My family even attests to enjoying it during the winter.) Recommend you check it out!

It was so soothing & ethereal. I tried out the very cold, plunge pool multiple times since I have read of its ice cold "rejuvenating powers" & it certainly was invigorating. We also spent time in the Moroccan-themed pods, enjoyed the steam room (we skipped the sauna), the waterfall pool &, capped off our Zen evening sitting by the firepit, perusing the night sky for shooting stars. Although we thought that the obligatory tip added to our bill/reservation was a tad high, our evening of pools with their ubiquitous & strong jacuzzi jets, star/mountain & deer gazing & quietude (there is a dedicated "shhh" person who walks around, reminding folks to not talk) was worth the price. You will be supplied with terry robes & showers are available to rinse off as well as lockers, as well as a dining area. Enjoy your time here as we did!

When you pay $70 +tip for a mens haircut at a salon, there is a minimum bar of customer service & attention -- every single time that bar has not been met. If you're available between 11am - 4pm to patiently deal with front desk staff while they figure out how to use their systems, re-repeat your name, phone number, email, schedule and your preferred stylist (and call you repeatedly), and then find no slots for you in the next month.. this place is for you. If you feel that $70 (+tip!) warrants customer service that goes above and beyond and offers flexibility to your 9-5 working schedule **without charging a "no-show" fee after you call to say you're late and get the answering machine** then you might want to look elsewhere. To the management: I recommend a review of front desk staff policies & interactions. The two front desk staff seem more interested in Instagram than customers. PS.
