Mixed proficiency, at best I had a bad experience with them…read moreregarding an oil change. Long story short, my oil was was low, lower than it should have been for my mileage. (The resulting clacking sound could indicate engine damage.) They tried to blame it on my engine burning too much oil but this has never been the case with my former garage. The person I spoke with was condescending, not believing and not at all interested in the possibility that I could have a valid opinion. Won't go back. I said "mixed proficiency" because I'd gone to them once in the past and it was fine - that wasn't an oil change, however. I'm very glad I was able to go back to my former garage and that I have that experience for comparison. I would say that they are on the defensive about their work, also that they have a greedy mentality, charging for "loaner" cars. Customer value is number 1 and along with that, valuing what your customer has to say about their experience.

Now I'm sure if I called and complained they would probably tell me to bring it in and they would rectify the situation but I don't have the time nor the patience to drive to the other side of town to have my trunk vacuumed. Not a huge issue but when it's a full detail it's unacceptable to forget the trunk, which was emptied out prior to the visit. Besides that they do solid work.

When you take your car here for an oil change, you get an oil change. No whoshotjohn about this cable and that belt needs replacing. There are no games here. The service is trustworthy and reasonable. I've had my Honda and my Audi worked on here and I will continue to come here even though I've moved out of the county. They will accommodate me with an inexpensive rental, which still saves me more money than going to a dealer. I think the only work they don't do is body work, but they can probably hook you up with that too. Cannot say enough good things about J's. Only drawback is that they are not open on Saturdays.

*** DO NOT RECOMMEND! ***…read more I always try to give my business to local/family owned shops. This time it was a mistake! I came to J's Auto Service for a routine state inspection and emissions check. Everything was fine other than a puncture in one of my tires and my brake lights being out. When I picked up my vehicle the odometer was up an additional 5 miles even though their invoice states there was no change in mileage. (Miles in 158,162, actual miles out 158,167 ( see attached photos)). This was odd but I didn't think anything of it since a road test is usually preformed. Fast forward to when I got the tire replaced at their shop/to get my other sticker for inspection. I picked it up after work and was a little surprised it costed $52.86 ($63.11 - $10.25 (state safety sticker)) for ONE tire. I started driving and realized my dashcam was unplugged. I contacted the shop and asked why this happened. I spoke with Christine who told me, "All we did was install your tire and check your brake lights". I go home and review the footage. I come to find out that they did indeed unplug my dash cam. Not cool. I also reviewed the footage from the day of my inspection. Prior to my vehicle ever being inspected, Jamie and Christine used my vehicle to pick up another customers car! They came back, inspected my vehicle and then conducted a road test. I paid for a state inspection/emissions test, not for them to use my car for their business. I will not be giving them my business after this and will not recommend them to anyone.
