Mixed proficiency, at best I had a bad experience with them regarding an oil change. Long story short, my oil was was low, lower than it should have been for my mileage. (The resulting clacking sound could indicate engine damage.) They tried to blame it on my engine burning too much oil but this has never been the case with my former garage. The person I spoke with was condescending, not believing and not at all interested in the possibility that I could have a valid opinion. Won't go back. I said "mixed proficiency" because I'd gone to them once in the past and it was fine - that wasn't an oil change, however. I'm very glad I was able to go back to my former garage and that I have that experience for comparison. I would say that they are on the defensive about their work, also that they have a greedy mentality, charging for "loaner" cars. I used copes to get PA inspection on low mileage older car, I left car at copes for over a week they call me with quote of just over $1600 I was called back to approve a smoke test to check admissions because of engine light being on. I gave approval and was call and told that everything would come in under $1700 When I picked up car I was charged $1877 when I questioned this no one could give me an answer as to why it was much higher then I was told I was told person who gave me quote was not in and someone would call next day The next day no one called when I called back I was finally told the extra charge (over $200) was for drive time to reset the engine light. That to me is very excessive and especially when I was never told this was happening I could have drove car myself till light went off and save $200 I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this place and advise get any quotes in writing I was hopeful I found new garage to have cars serviced but instead my search continues for the honest mechanic! read more

A number of years back my friend was having car troubles the day after a bad snowstorm so I went out and I followed him over to the nearest car shop, which was Cope's. I had always driven by Cope's on County Line Road in Souderton but I have never had the opportunity to stop in until then. The staff was friendly and helpful and they took the car and worked on it for pickup the next day, and I know my friend was pleased of the efficient time to fix his car and it seemed like an all around decent experience, so I kept Cope's in mind as an option for any car troubles in the future. read more

I was formerly a customer of Starbrite in Souderton, and went to have my annual inspection and emissions completed, and was given the run-around by a technician there who told me it passed, and when I questioned the noted repairs needing attention, he back-tracked and told me it didn't pass and needed control arms to pass. When I asked to speak to my husband first, he gave me an outrageous number of $1,100 for control arms and said they were cracked and needed to pass inspection, and said he could do them and all brake pads/rotors for $2,277. Something in the way he spoke to me sounded very fishy, so I paid my emissions and oil change. I reached out to Jon Orlik and John Maven at Cope's for a second opinion. Jon Orlik treated me with respect, listened to my concerns, reviewed my inspection notes from Starbrite, and got my vehicle in immediately for service and inspection. Not only were the control arms not necessary, but the price Starbrite had given me was 2x the amount that Cope's quoted me. I ended up getting my bushings replaced, and went ahead to have all brake pads and rotors replaced (even though they were not yet needed) because of Jon and his team's honesty. We will now be Cope's customers for a lifetime!!!! If you're looking for an honest garage who is there to help their customers, especially during a pandemic when we are all financially suffering, Cope's is the place you should be. A terrible experience from start to finish. We were lied to by the "shop manager" and then when we followed up with the owner/boss we were given nothing but excuses...... DO NOT USE COPE"S if at all possible....they must save the good service for friends and family. read more

This is the tail end of a negative review I posted on Statewide Auto Repair. Fortunately, Cope's saved the day, and earned a new customer next time I need service. USAA had already dispatched a great company called Copes Garage. I called Copes and John answered immediately. I told them what had happened with the other company and asked if they could expedite. They had a truck to me in about 10 minutes (20 minutes ahead of the ETA). Great service and very polite. I think I'll start going to Copes for all my auto needs. USAA also said they score the companies based on customer feedback, so yay for Copes and boo for statewide. If you have a similar experience make sure you tell your insurance. read more

NEVER AGAIN. This review is the culmination of two separate visits. At the beginning of the month (May), I had brought in a vehicle that wasn't starting due to a security issue. I had dealt with this issue as recently as January and replaced just about everything there was to replace. Upon the first visit, Cope's did some sort of security relearn procedure which ended up costing upwards of 80$. However, the light went off and all seemed well. In the next week, the light would sporadically turn on and off but the car was starting fine. Fast-forward to yesterday morning (still May) and the car was once again failing to start. I had it towed to Cope's once again and made it implicitly clear that I was to be notified before doing anything costly. The following day I spoke with mechanics/employees on THREE separate occasions and there was no mention of cost or services. In fact, I was told that the vehicle had been starting since being dropped off which would have been nice to be made aware of the previous day. While Cope's could not offer any further explanation or solution for this issue, they seemed to have no issue performing and charging me for the exact same service that had failed a mere TWO WEEKS AGO! I was told again and again that the fees were necessary to pay the mechanics for their time while the invoice clearly states "Performed security relearn procedure". Essentially, I paid for absolutely nothing considering that the issue had internally resolved before the mechanics had even done anything. This could have been avoided if they would have simply asked before performing this service, which I would have declined or by informing me that the car had been starting since its arrival. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. WILL NOT BE RETURNING. read more
