Amazing service and experience!!! I booked a 1.5 hour intro massage with Celine. I received several…read morereminders which were much appreciated to be sure I was ready to go for my much-needed massage. META Therapeutix is easily accessed off Rte 3 and Spit Brook Road. There's plenty of parking, and easy access whether you park in front or back of the building.
Taking the lift to the 4th floor, I found a clean, bright bathroom to use before I settled in for my massage. Opening the door to META is a delight for the eyes and senses. The cozy waiting room is tastefully decorated with a warm, curated vibe. There are products for sale - eclectic jewelry, bespoke beauty products - but it's not overwhelming and seems to complement the space rather than feel like pushing add-on sales. There are three treatment rooms including one for the massage and another for esthetic services (Envy Permanent Esthetics is also highly recommended, but that's another post ;) ). Each is a bright, open space, styled with boho textiles, art, and lots of lovely green plants. The whole place just exudes thoughtfulness and care given the attention to stylish details large and small. Celine's room has both flora and fauna in the form of calmly swimming fish and a cute little lizard! I loved how light-filled it was, with a gorgeous view of the tree tops. Such a change from other dark spas I have been in, and the view coupled with the soft ambient sounds she plays make you forget you're right off Daniel Webster Highway.
Before getting started, Celine has you complete a comprehensive survey to be sure she understands what you need, any sensitivities or allergies you may have, and to learn more about your day to day to life so she can best alleviate your aches and pain. You can tell immediately her goal is for each client to feel comfortable, seen and heard, and to be sure your time is well spent and enjoyable. We discussed my areas of focus and also what smells and scents I'd like. From there, Celine left me to get undressed and get cozy under the soft blankets on the warmed massage table. From there, it's hard to describe the blissful relaxation I experienced, but Dear Reader, I will try to call out the highlights I can remember:
- I opted for adding stretching into my massage. Celine gently warmed me up with a light touch and easy stretching that really set the tone for the rest of the body work.
- She started on my front, paying lots of attention to my laptop-addled elbows and wrists. She also did some kind of magic on my shoulders I am still feeling 24 hours later (in the best of ways). My arms felt ready to go for another marathon event of computer work immediately after.
- Celine has some voodoo she should bottle and sell to get your hips and glutes open and and loose. This is an area that is always bothering me, no matter how much I stretch. Other practitioners have helped, but Celine solved the issue through this crazy maneuver where she takes the weight of your legs on to hers and contorts you into some kind of flying move (lol that's what it felt like anyways with my eyes closed). I kid you not, she asked me what my pain was before she started by pressing into my hip/buttocks (an 8/9), and when she finished her signature technique, she tested again, and I couldn't believe she was even pressing on the same spot. Pain level was now a 1/2!!!!! THIS ALONE IS WORTH SEEING CELINE FOR YOUR MASSAGE NEEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!
- She closed the session with her patent-pending "hug" which she aptly describes as creating a cocoon for you (a butterfly) to emerge from after the wonderful experience on her table. That, in a a nutshell, sums up her philosophy and commitment to caring deeply for each client.
I cannot recommend Celine and her massage services at META Therapeutix enough - I will definitely be back, and I hope to see you there, too!!!!
